Troutman proposes on House floor

Tally_flpc206 Buzz wonders what Rep. Baxter Troutman would have done had she said "no" and whether cousin and sometimes opponent Sen. J.D. Alexander will be invited to the wedding. But oh, the theater!

From the Associated Press:

Rep. Baxter Troutman surprised his girlfriend, Rebecca Carney, with a marriage proposal on the floor of the House on Wednesday. Carney, clearly caught off guard, said yes in front of the entire House and a gallery of onlookers.

But this being the Legislature, it wasn't official just because Carney agreed. A broader consensus had to be forged before the final proposal could forward.

A resolution was read on the floor proclaiming the proposal, and then House Speaker Marco Rubio, R-West Miami, called for a vote.

"All those in favor of the marriage proposal, signify by saying yea," Rubio said. When the voice vote was in question, lawmakers voted using the chamber's electronic board 106-0 in favor of Troutman, R-Winter Haven, getting hitched.

"Congratulations, you're engaged," the speaker said after the vote.

Aw well I just hope Amendment 2 protects that sweet little Tallahasse-blessed marriage from harm.

At least she followed yesterday's Fox News fluff piece detailing the key for a woman to have a happy marriage is to marry a man less attractive than you are.

Wow. She has really big hair.

One thing she is going to have after the wedding is a really big bank account!

she bears a striking resemblence to the less talked about cousin, Katie

Please clarify, does he now go on either the foot-tapper or hooker watch list?

11:56 -

He is a republican so that would make him go under the foot tapper label.

Let me get this straight!

We voters of Florida overwhelmingly demanded that our Legislature address the insurance problem that is causing (in part) record numbers of foreclosures – even though the voters knew that the insurance industry contributed 12-million dollars to help put these pinheads in office to begin with. As a result, our Legislature has absolutely and unequivocally FALIED to respond to the will of “The People” on this issue.

On the other hand…

We voters of Florida DID NOT demand IN ANY WAY that our Legislature apologize on our behalf for something we had ABSOLUTLY NOTHING to do with. As a result, our Legislature has spent our time, our resources, and our money to apologize for something we had ABSOLUTLY NOTHING to do with.

... and toss in a marriage proposal to boot.

I will GLADLY contribute my $240 joke, known as our “tax relief”, to any group that organizes a drive to RECALL every last member of the “waste of carbon” known as The Florida Legislature… so long as they through in “The People’s Mistake”, known as Chuck.

If we voters of Florida allow this charade, known as “representation” to continue… may God, and our children, forgive every last one of us.

That's sweet. Congratulations and best wishes.

Cogratulations Baxter! You're a good man and deserve to be happy!

9:42 - opposites attract!

Look at him and hen look at her... does anyone else see something wrong with this?

Look at him and then look at her... does anyone else see something wrong with this?

I wonder how many extra special sessions it would take for the house of representatives lawmakers to put together a marriage contract for Baxter and Rebecca?

Plastics attrack!
