Where in the world is Charlie Crist?
The chair is back.
During the 2006 election, Republicans assailed U.S. Rep Jim Davis for missing votes in DC as he campaigned for governor. In the latter days of the race, hecklers showed up at Davis events with an empty chair.
Now, it's payback. The Florida Democratic Party has launched a site mocking Gov. Charlie Crist for missing work to campaign with John McCain.
"I'm sick and tired of the constant Republican hypocrisy. It's time to hit back - hard," FDP chairwoman Karen Thurman says in a statement announcing the site.

The emperor has no clothes, but a Hollywood tan.
My favorite Cristism of the past few weeks:
Campaign to cut property taxes, then promise with a straight face to increase education funding, by raising property taxes.

The democrats should talk.
Look at how many votes Obama & Hillary have missed in the US Congress.
SHAMEFUL!

ouch!

Karen either (a) has never read the admonition that people living in glass houses should not throw stones, or (b, more likely, read it but failed to grasp its meaning.

I missing days at work too, thanks to Charlie.

Boy, you can tell the bosses are back in town. The dearth of bloggers is very telling.

Karen Thurman will be eating her words. She eats about everything else . . .

What good comes to the Democrats if they tick Charlie off?
Posted by: | March 03, 2008 at 07:19 PM
5:42 - to say nothing of how many days McCain has missed from his job while traveling with our governor!
Posted by: | March 03, 2008 at 07:20 PM
Empty chair in Tallahassee - empty suit in Tallahassee.
Posted by: | March 03, 2008 at 07:21 PM
When he is at work he increases the exposure of taxpayers to bail out the state if (God forbid) a hurricane hits by increasing the role of Citizens. He fails to cut property taxes in any meaningful way. Finally he dips into state reserves for a "smoke and mirrors" budget. It actually might not be a bad thing for him to remain out of state.

Charlie is in Key West with his Bff Enjoying spring break!!!
Posted by: Jason Straight | March 03, 2008 at 07:29 PM
7:19 it doesn't matter. Rubio and Pruitt wear the pants. Crist is an empty suit.
Posted by: | March 03, 2008 at 07:41 PM
Most of the days that say he was "off" he was actually campaigning to cut my property taxes.
Thank you Charlie Crist

Tasting that bitter medicine of your own...LOVE IT

5:42,
Last time I checked they are both running for President. What is Chuck running for (or from)?
Posted by: | March 03, 2008 at 09:16 PM
Karen get to the denist stat. Lay off the booze and tell Chairmen Al you need a raise.
Posted by: | March 03, 2008 at 09:34 PM
It really is disgusting how obvious it is when a staffer posts i.e. 8:08.
I think Im going to puke.

Democrats hold only two statewide offices in Florida and it's not hard to figure out why.
Posted by: | March 03, 2008 at 09:56 PM
"Where in the world is Charlie Crist?"
Forget "where", lets start with "who in the world is Chuck?"
Good Lord, I forgot we even had the position of Governor.
RECALL "THE PEOPLE'S MISTAKE"
Love,
Florida

Jim Queer and Karen Thurmadrunk! Two of the hardest-working Republicans in Tallytown!

Our Governor is doing exactly what he SHOULD be doing...traveling around the state, country and even the world representing Florida. He was not elected County Commissioner..he was elected Governor of the nation's 4th largest state, and the world's 14th largest economy. Believe it or not, Tallahassee is not the center of the universe. The worst thing any Governor could do is spend all of their time in Tallahasse....
Posted by: | March 03, 2008 at 10:43 PM
He's failed on insurance.
He's failed on property taxes.
He's caused the loss of firefighter jobs.
He promised no education cuts - now he calls the cuts in the proposed budget "unfortunate".
He cut a questionable deal on gambling.
He's at war with the University presidents.
Maybe he should spend a little more time actually improving Florida, instead of playing "I wanna be VP" with McCain.

10:43 - Delmar, i guess the Whataburger closed early (oh, wait, i don't think there are any whataburger's in Orlando). I think Jim can get you a decent steak at Crystal Cabaret.
Are you kidding me, I loved our County Commissioner Jeb Bush. Yep, while he was working weekends at the mansion and in the office at 7:30, all he did was focus on little local issues. Yeah, he certainly didn't do much.
I'm really disappointed in you Delmar. Don't you remember getting to work in Tallahassee as the sun rose? Truth is, Jeb got more work done in one round of golf on a Sunday than this Tanned Marshmallow has done in 14 months.
I'm ready to start the Top 10 Excuses for Why It's Not Charlie's fault when the 08 hurricane season smashes Florida:

Will Charlie be paying income tax in each of those states in which he is "working," as professional athletes must?
If not, isn't that tax evasion?
Posted by: | March 04, 2008 at 12:41 AM
9:16PM,
If you are running for President and cannot fulfill your duty as a US Senator, then you should resigned.
Check how many Senatorial votes Obama has missed in Congress. While you are at it, check how many bills he chickened out on taking a position on instead choosing a PRESENT vote during his time in the Illinois legislature.
It just shows Obama's lack experience and courage to be the President of the United States.
Posted by: | March 04, 2008 at 12:55 AM
I just hope McCain sees through his sycophancy and shoots him down as his choice for VP.
That tax cut was a clear suck up to the Realtor Action Committee.
John McCain for president (sans Crist)

It was just a matter of time before the Democrats turned on their "friend."
Posted by: ItFigures | March 04, 2008 at 06:33 AM
In an effort to conceal the fact that the governor is never in his office anymore, Erin has stopped posting his schedule online.
Posted by: | March 04, 2008 at 08:29 AM
I didn’t even know Chuck had an office. I thought he lived on McAmnesy’s bus.
Posted by: | March 04, 2008 at 08:48 AM
There's still a democrat party here in Florida? Their votes do not count for their nominee and neither does their BS press releases. Fla Dems so last century.
Posted by: | March 04, 2008 at 09:00 AM
Since he is a public employee does he get paid when he takes all those personal days? Or does he use accrued vacation days? Or can I too just take off days to campaign for others or for amendments and get get my state salary paid in full?? Huh??
Posted by: | March 04, 2008 at 09:22 AM
Republican or Democrat - it really doesn't matter. This pathetic excuse for a 'governor' is enjoying a salary for a job that he is rarely at. And when he is there he isn't too effective at it anyway.
Posted by: | March 04, 2008 at 09:55 AM
Do the people posting on this site believe that John McCain is making every Senate vote? I am a McCain supporter, but this missing votes stuff is crap.
It was crap when Charlie did it to Jim. It is crap when Karen does it to Charlie. It is crap with Hillary, Obama and John. The thing here is that Charlie won the Governor's office largely on the "empty chair" ads. He probably deserves to be mocked on this issue just a little bit. It would be like President George HW Bush pardoning Willie Horton.
Posted by: | March 04, 2008 at 09:57 AM
Jim Davis gets hammered because he doesn't show up to vote for naming post offices. You Crist people are getting what you deserve. Live with it and stop whining.
Posted by: | March 04, 2008 at 12:36 PM
the empty suit has never owned a place to live, never been married. just what perspective does he bring, as he was neither a business man either. Where is the chick from the hamptons? the "fiance"???????
charlie's livin it up, on our dime.
Posted by: | March 04, 2008 at 04:10 PM
Um, a lot of those days the Governor was campaigning for Amendment 1. He had to take those days off. Sorry, this just doesn't hold water.
Posted by: | March 04, 2008 at 05:10 PM
Neither do Charlies half-baked policies.
