Ambler to run for Florida Senate in 2010

State Rep. Kevin Ambler, R-Lutz, wants to win re-election this year, but he also filed today to run for state Senate seat of Victor Crist, R-Tampa. Ambler said he wanted to clear anybody's doubts about his future political ambitions by being the first to file for the 2010 race. Crist is term-limited out in 2010 for the district that includes parts of Hillsborough and Pasco counties.

"We expect our legislators to plan for the budgets of the future. ... Why shouldn't I be upfront and forward about showing that I have an intent in continuing in public service?" asked Ambler, whose only 2008 challenger so far is Adam Phinney of Citrus Park, who has no party affiliation.

Why doesn't he just file for 2012 President to while he is at it.

Now his constituents will know why he is voting the way he is, I want to stay elected.

Who is the county comission guy who is actually going to win this seat?

Crist thinks a Congressional seat gets created for him in the 2010 Census.

Jim Norman gets Sports COmmisison.

John Grant gets H47.

Hopefully it goes all to plan...

What other GOP House members could run?

Good thing we took care of that pesky "Resign to Run" law... aye boys!

Good riddance Victor Crist.

"Who is the county commissioner" is exactly why Ambler wins.

Yes, I'm sure the business community will support the trial lawyer Ambler.

The only thing bigger than his ego is his ever going waist line.

Go Ambler! He would make a great Senator.

Who is Kevin Ambler?

Next thing you know Ambler will plop $300K in the race... then nothing else will matter.

Jim Norman is the county commish and "close friend" of Ambler who planned on running for this seat WAY before Ambler. Might not be friends for long. By the way, what about Traviesa? He might want to run...not like this is his district but that hasn't stopped him since he ran for the house and doesn't live in that district he represents either!

What the heck? How can a person run for two offices at the same time? Ambler barely won the elections he ran for to begin with.

Can anyone tell me what he has done since he's been elected? I Can't!

This looks like another election loop hole that needs to be fixed.

I have to agree. This sounds unethical and cheap. I'm not aware anything that Mr. Ambler has done or accomplished. Shouldn't you actually do something while your in office? Well, at least he eats well!

This was an April Fools joke....right? He would run as a Democrat.....right? Running as a Dem would match his voting record, that is when he doesn't disappear and walk on important votes. Kevin Ambler thinks he is going to be the next Florida Senator? What a joke. He's been a nobody ever since Bill Bunkley clipped his wings. Leadership put him out to pasture after that race. To bad the Bunkley chap didn't come back and finish business the next time Ambler was up. But back to the question of where is the beef? Check his committee leadership record in the House since he got there.....Nada. Check his accomplishments sponsoring legislation on any important issues.... Nada. If it were not for him using high school students to get recognition to pass a bill he would have a big goose egg in legislative accomplishments. He is the most dislike person of house republicans. Don't take my word for it, do the research yourself. It is all there.......ah should I say it is all not there…..the big void. Mr. Ambler should do what he does best and that is go back to chasing ambulances full time for a living. And maybe since he is reminding us of his ego centric ambitions, could somebody step up and take this guy out of his house seat now and speed up the process?

Ambler should focus on lowering property taxes and insurance rates instead of worrying about a race that is years away.

Problem Solved!

Norman wants to be the ED of the Tampa Sports Authority. He probably agreed to Kevin's run in exchange for help in getting that job.

Fred and Martha - Ambler passed the Florida Uniformed Servicemmebrs Protection Act to protect members of the military who are about to deploy to get out of apartment leases, cell phone contracts, car insurance policies, etc. without paying penalties for breaking them.

saves them a lot of money when money is the last thing they need to worry about before they deploy.

And what about soaring property taxes in Hillsborough County?

Will Cynthia Henderson be his campaign manager?

John Grant for House Dist. 47, are you serious?
