Crist opposes raiding Citizens money
Gov. Charlie Crist told the St. Petersburg Times editorial board on Friday that he is no fan of measures in both chambers to "borrow" $250 million from Citizens Property Insurance Corp. premiums to fund a program that gives low-interest loans to young start-up insurers.
When asked if he'd veto such a measure, Crist said he'd wait to see if the measure even gets to his desk.

Same ole story, I'll wait til it gets to my desk. Well Gov the problem is you're never at your desk so who is guarding the hen house? Are they e-mailing you these bills?

This is fantastic news. Is this a sign that Charlie may actually be "getting it?" That the state cannot keep borrowing against our kids' furture? Let's hope so.

11:21 Your name gives the lie to your mantra. Your pal and his family have more damage to our kid's future than we can presently imagine. I'm sure he's feathered his own family nest though.

Don't worry about Jeb and his family - they're doing just fine. After all he is on the boards of many of the companies that were awarded privatization contracts under his administration!!!!

Didn't we do this already with those "takeout" insurers -- paid them to take over Citizens policies, then they re-paid us by going bust, leaving us holding a very heavy bag of liabliities?
Isn't this the very definition of insanity, doing the same thing and expecting different results?

Don Mott speaks the truth. Between the 'I'll wait until it gets to my desk' and the 'I don't knows', we should be sooo proud!
And no, we shouldn't be giving loans to start up insurance companies. We're all on the hook for Citizens anyway once the storms start hitting because of the mess we're in. Let's not make it any worse.

agreed 4:15. Isn't the state suing the former mayor of Tampa and his family for pulling hundreds of millions out of his small insurance company before going bankrupt leaving the taxpayers to pay for the mess?
