Florida Senate bans 'truck nutz'
The bill that makes hanging "truck nutz" from your car a moving violation passed the Senate by 37-2 with Republican Sen. Bill Posey and Democrat Sen. Frederica Wilson voting against it.
Click here to read our January 2005 story about the, um ... truck "taters" phenomenon.

I do not like looking at them but this law makes me want to go out, buy them and put them on my truck just to take it to court and to challenge this law that tramples on all our rights. Pretty soon it will against the law to fart outside!!!!

Tom, since a fart releases carbon dioxide, Charlie may just do that... kinda like second-hand carbon scenario

Why is it offensive to hang truck nuts on your trailer hitch… but a boatload of homertesticles and lesbotarians sucking face and grabbing crotch and a*s… in a parade in broad daylight… is just hunky-freaking-dory?
No wonder we’re a freaking mess.

If you believe this was a wise and intelligent issue for the state Senate to debate, you are part of the problem.
What the heck is wrong with you? Grow up and quit trying to ban everything in the world that makes you feel uncomfortable to discuss with your 10-year-old.
The world is not child-proof. It's not supposed to be. The world is for adults. Sad you're still such children that you get upset about what other people think is funny, and want laws against it.
Bad human beings are behind stuff like this. They want the world to look just the way THEY want it to look, freedom be damned. Bad people. They are the enemy of free and intelligent human beings.

Lookin' through my pocket copy o' the Constitution here . . . lookin' for that amendment which states we have "the inaliable right to not be offended". Can't seem to find it. My copy must not be complete.

We cannot pass a ban on people showing there butt cracks but can for this. This only passed do mostly white people per take in this act. The butt crack situation involves blacks and whites therefore it is not politically correct to talk about. You would then be a racist but it is ok to say redneck and hillbilly. Go home yanks!

What if I find those silly fish offensive (how DARE you wave your religion in my face!). Going to ban those too?

A sign that we are a civial society. Such a rarity.

A good point was made that the people who support these idiotic things are associated to NASCAR. I'm sure they can also tell you that the slightest wrong move in a race can be the difference between losing and winning. The same holds true for this small issue with the fake male reproductive glands displayed on cars. It may be a small issue but stamping it out does make a difference. It shows that our society has some level of DECENCY. And decency and respect for those around you is the main point in this ridiculous situation.

Jb has issues.

This bill should be amended to include "any items that may cause dsitraction and offense to driving regardless of the promotion of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientaiton."
Since public offensiveness has clearly become the #1 critical issue for Florida residents, we cannot waste time in ensuring ALL Florida motorists avoid being offended in any way while driving on our roads.

I mean let's get real some people were offended by them, well in that case let me see I'm offended by the various religious groups who deem it necessary to stop at my house on Saturday afternoon to let me know that I'm going to hell unless I buy into their particular religion.
In the end we can all put on our Burka's, grow beards and blow up the buildings of anyone who dare to offends us. Oh yeah that's right we already have a group that does that, and our military is out there fighting to help maintain the freedom and rights of these radicals. My question did anyone check and make sure we weren't offending anyone before we sent the troops overseas? If not you had better get the ban started on that one before someone says something or heaven forbid is “offended”.

§ [Scott asked]"Where did people ever get the idea that the 1st Amendment states that we can do whatever we want no matter how annoying and disgusting it is to anyone else?"
-answer: We get that idea from the strict construction and original intent of the First Amendment. If you can find where the Founders made any constitutional exceptions please cite it.

I suppose a daring sort could get three spray cans of dayglo spraypaint in different shades and sneak up on them in parking lots and spray horizontal stripes across them.
Get the picture?

CC will veto it. He's into that kind of thing.

Not to sound too sarcastic, but I truly believe a good parent needs to put their child in the back seat of the car with blinders or a bag over their head so they don't have to explain why that man is sleeping on the street, why that woman only has one leg, why Michelangelo's David is naked. Someone earlier said that the world is an adult world and it is. So many children in other countries understand the pain of hunger, thirst and death. It's great to keep innocence as long as you can, but they do have to grow up. And if you are a good parent you will know what to say when your 10 y/o asks what is that hanging from that truck. "Hunny, it's someones idea of a joke. I don't think its funny do you? But they should be allowed to express their opinion. That's why we live in the United States."
