Florida sues Poe insurance

Former Tampa Mayor Bill Poe Sr. and 19 others, including his wife and five children, have been sued by Florida regulators for engaging in what the state alleges was an elaborate scheme to divert more than $140-million from three property insurance companies even as the companies hurtled toward bankruptcy. Read about it here.

See, and everybody wonders why the insurance crisis can't be fixed. We have these politician/criminals looting the system. All his assets should be seized and he should be put in jail.

If a "local smalltimer" from Tampa can pull something like this with insurance money, can anyone imagine how the big national insurance companies are screwing Floridians?

Former DEMOCRAT Tampa Mayor Bill Poe Sr. and 19 others.....

There, fixed it for you.

11:30 - amazing how the SPT left that out...

This was the jerkface that almost lost the bay area the Bucs, and got a 'courage" award for his self-agrandizing efforts. Hope he and his family is ruined and he is jail for the rest of his miserable life

Touchy, aren't we, 11:30 and 11:44? It is telling that a Democrat, Alex Sink, is after Poe to recoup the additional funds to reduce the assessments. My insurance tripled from 2006 to 2007, so I'd be happy to get some of that back.

Arent these Tom Gallaghers crooked contributing friends. Lets all thank God TG is no longer in statewide office.

The Democrat part is definitely telling, but no big surprise there. And no big surprise that it was left out either.

And what is Alex Sink suppose to do, ignore it? Besides, he's under orders. After all it would only put the Democratic Party in an even bigger bind in Florida if it tried to protect Poe.

I don't care what party he bolongs to. I'm tired of paying the bills for crooked rich businessmen. Meanwhile the REPUBLICANS rag on welfare moms. I guess they would rather bail out savings and loans, mortgage brokers, Enron, large investment corporations and toe tapping senators than feed a mom and her baby.

None of you know anything about Bill Poe; he is the most AMAZING man. In case you haven't noticed over his lifetime he has deticated not just money but also time to so many social services including Hillsborough County Education, Underpriviledged, Higher level education, Civil Rights, Foster Children, City Improvements, and countless others. If you do not know Bill Poe then I feel sorry for you. He is the most kind, caring, humble, honest man I have ever met. This case is purely a need for bad press to help the state in their counter suit against him. If the state had never steped in and ceased claims operation at Poe Financial then those waiting on compensation would have been paid a long time ago, so ask the state where the money is not Poe
