House bumps autism bill

The Florida House unanimously passed an autism bill by 117-0 that differs from the Senate's bill (SB 2654), which mandates insurers cover medical treatment for autism.

The House version is far more complicated but gives companies a year to figure out and negotiate what kind of coverage they'd provide, waiting before any mandates go into effect. It also opens up Healthy Kids insurance to treat autism and other disabilities.

Can I opt out of the coverage and save on premiums?

Can you opt out of autism and learn how to comunicate with other humans?

I can guarantee that I will not need this coverage in my health insurance policy.

Another smoke and mirrors!

Sounds like some more health care based redistribution.

The free market has failed hasn't it?

Now it is best to go ahead and socialize medicine altogether so the issue will come to a head. The cost of health care is going to continue expanding until the citizenry is spending nearly all of its resources on it and subsequently realize they have to demand that government stop mandating health care costs when it can no longer provide other basic services due to running out of money and no one will loan them anymore.

I won't tell you what to do with your body and you don't make me pay for what you do with it.

Of course the pro-abortion crowd is also the same bunch most rabid about having government control health care. Go figure.

Of course the anti-abortion crowd is also the same bunch most rabid about having government send our children to dies in Iraq. Go figure.

3:43, the government needs to tell YOU what YOU shouldn't do with YOUR body... and you'd better stop quick cause you'll go blind doing that.

3:43 is Mr. Meoff... I think his first name is Jack.

not 3:43 here but it is interesting that he/she put forth some ideas and the three repsonses afterwards that attack the post are no doubt of the liberal ilk and have no reasonable arguments against the position, just name calling

it's clear by these examples and many others on this blog that the educated and self-thinkers become conservatives and the uneducated and group-thinkers become liberals

not 3:43 here either, but it is interesting that he/she put forth some moronic rants and the three repsonses afterwards that exposed the post are no doubt of the reality ilk and have no time for unreasonable arguments in favor of the position.

it's clear by these examples and many others on this blog that the educated and self-thinkers become American who get it, and the uneducated and group-thinkers become Republicon hypocrits who frequent public bathrooms.

My child is a little short but nonetheless loves basketball. What government office do I need to request funds from in order to have them take your (yea you) money in the form of taxes to pay for his growth hormone treatment?

Oh and my roof now seems to be leaking. Which of you worked extra hours today or make a high wage? I need to know so that, ah nevermind, the government will know who to get the taxes from to pay for the work I want done.

Problem solved each according to their wants.

Stop mandating vaccines and autism will cease to exist..

Tom, is it vaccines that the mother had or the babies themselves? Please share more info. Of course we must accept that if your solution does not create an additional bureaucracy or cost the average taxpayer a boatload of cash the health care socialists will not be satisfied.

Doesn't sound like anyone who has commented here has had to take on at-least another mortgage payment every month and quit their job to access the therapeutic services (Pt, ABA, OT, Speech, just to start) that their autistic child needs after they turn 3 in the state of Florida. Thank goodness. We did and are glad for a little bit of help - remember, if we take care of these children now, perhaps they will do right by us when it is their turn to take care of us one day.

thank you, dm, for bringing a voice of reason to the conversation. those of us who have sacrificed for our children simply want a little assistance from the insurance companies WE PAY PREMIUMS to. our private insurer covers pt/ot/st in the event one of the above commentors was injured in an accident. they will not cover any of this for my disabled child - although i pay them every month. now, they are obligated to provide my child with the same coverage the idiots above have access to. i don't wish the autism train on anyone, but if those aforesaid idiots spent a day in my son's brain, they'd be begging for services. nothing socialistic about it; just humane treatment.
