Florida Senate bans 'truck nutz' | Main | A court victory for Hometown Democracy »

Senate evolution bill passes

By a 21-17 vote with five Republicans (Jim King, Paula Dockery, Dennis Jones, Evelyn Lynn, Mike Bennett) voting no, Brandon Sen. Ronda Storms' controversial evolution bill just passed the chamber.

But Storms' bill is markedly different from the House version sponsored by Rep. Alan Hays, leaving its future in doubt. She tried to change the bill to match Hays, which simply adds a line to required classroom construction requiring “a thorough presentation and critical analysis of the scientific theory of evolution.”

But her proposal died on a voice vote. Hays, who sat in the Senate during the vote, said afterward that he now must "strategize" to figure out his next step. His bill will be on the House floor this week, but if it passes as is it would have to come back to the Senate. And he's not sure if they'll take it.

He said his "simple sentence" bill is less likely than Storms' to be challenged in court.

ronda you are a fool. it's crap like this that makes me think the florida tag in fark is justified.

Corporate Welfare (CSX)… 700-million tax dollars

Pandering to crackhead parents… 8-million tax dollars

False imprisonment… 1.25-million tax dollars

Insurance Industry pass… 12-million in campaign donations

Teaching kids their daddy was a frog... amazingly foolish

Baggy Pants… freaking ridiculous

Gun-to-Work… useless

Truck Nuts... good Lord!

Pandering Apology… meaningless

Bestiality ban… a bummer for several Legislators

Florida’s housing market… through the floor

Florida’s economy… crashing, and fast

Florida’s Governor… taking a photo somewhere

Voting every one of these useless, self-serving, corporate puppets out of office on our first available chance… abso-freaking-lutly priceless.

Ronda Storms = Whack Job!

if it aint apparent to you folks by now, what will it take?

REPIGLICANS WANT YOU AND YOUR KIDS TO BE IGNORANT SO THEY CAN TELL YOU & THEM ANY AND ALL SORTS OF KRAP IN ORDER TO BE ELECTED!!

"why, yes, timmie, the sun does revolve around the sun...it sez so in our sacred scriptures!"

"yes, mary, the kosmos is carried on the back of a giant turtle. our sacred scriptures tell us so."

"yes, marjorie, colored people are inferior to white. our sacred scriptures sez so!"

"indeed, alex, men are better than wimmens. our sacred scriptures sez so!"

HOW DARE YOU QUESTION OUR SACRED SCRIPTURES!!

WHY DO YOU HATE GOD AND AMEIRIKA SO MUCH??

you people damnable idiots for electing such morons and then re-electing and re-electing them!!

im almost 64 and will be long gone by the time this society collapses from the damage done to it by these fools and you, their able enablers!!

you deserve each other!!!!!!

Similar flat earth idiots used to insist the photos of earth from space were a fake.

I guess some people just INSIST on remaining ignorant.

When they start trying to force us to pretend that I.D. is a must teach, it will cost Florida a fortune to lose in court. To get their sheep's clothing creationism in school, they will also have to teach Pastafarian concepts of the Flying Spaghetti Monster god. Let school out for "talk like a pirate day."

Didn't they learn when even KANSAS didn't fall prey to their attempts to "establish" their religious views at tax expense?

Timmy: “Mr. Wizard?”

Mr. Wizard: “Yes Timmy?”

Timmy: “My teacher says we evolved from monkeys, is that true?”

Mr. Wizard: “Why yes Timmy; it is.”

Timmy: “But we went to the zoo yesterday on a school field trip and saw monkey’s in a cage. Why didn’t they evolve like us, Mr. Wizard?”

Mr. Wizard: “Well Timmy, you see… first, instead of electing people who actually care about education run our school system, we let politicians run our school system. Then came the FCAT and outsourcing the grading to illegal immigrants, then…”

Timmy: “It’s getting pretty weird around here, huh Mr. Wizard?”

Mr. Wizard: “Yes Timmy it is. Now go play outside before the law finds out you ate a fish sandwich for lunch and arrests you for cannibalism.”

Timmy: “Can I climb in the tree?”

Mr. Wizard: “Yes Timmy, you can… but be careful not to trip on your tail!”

mr wizzard: "timmie?"

timmie: 'yes mr. wizzard?"

mr wizzard: "if you were any stupider and sober, youd be president of the u.s.!"

Mr. Wizzard: Timmy

Timmy: Yes, Mr. Wizard.

Mr Wizzard: Timmy, I really like those shorts your mom bought you. They make your butt look cute. Wanna come over and play?

Timmy: ummmmm....ummm

"Mr Wizzard: Timmy, I really like those shorts your mom bought you. They make your butt look cute. Wanna come over and play?"

Looks like Mr. Wizard is a Republican!

all these idiots here that cling to science are so afraid of others who wish to challenge certain scientific findings - well guess what - that's the whole point of science, to challenge what we know and find out what we don't

if you are so scared of people challenging cross-species evolution and other "facts" like man-made global warming then you don't know the first thing about science - have fun in YOUR ignorance

4.04:

"that's the whole point of science, to challenge what we know and find out what we don't"

CHALLENGE through the METHODS OF SCIENCE, not thru mythology!!

jackass!!

evolution can be challenged through science

jackass!!

Hey, there's ny uncle; the jackass!

god bless you folks struggling so valiantly against the "evils of teaching evolution".

god bless you because you are so woefully uninformed in theology, the history of the holy scriptures and their development and christian scriptures, that YOU ACTUALLY BELIEVE THE KRAP you spout off!!

please, please, for god and jesus' sake, instead of wasting your time here, sharing your ignorance with all of us, go out and do what jesus asked of john: "feed my sheep!"

go find the sick, the needy, the powerless and use this energy caring for them as our lord requested.

STOP WASTING YOUR LIMITED INTELLECTS ON THESE MATTERS...YOU ARENT EQUIPPED FOR THEM!!!!

5:01, I'll pray for your lost, black soul!

I love you, and so does God.

got a problem with feeding god's sheep, 5:04?

clearly you arent up to dealing with the issues intellectually, are you?

How about the theory of deevolution? Why are there politicians unless this was a fact?

6:03, I prayed for your lost, black soul! And I will again.

I love you, and so does God.

5:01 - hey clue-in - if you're responding to my post then you are the one injecting religion into the mix - i did not say one word about religion - my post was about portions of evolution being debunked by science - so why don't you and your ig'nant a** try to think for once instead of knee-jerking off because someone disagrees with you
