$92 million vanishes from state coffers
State economists today reported that state revenue collections in April fell $91.7-million short of the estimate, adding to an already horrible budget. Of that, sales tax collections were down nearly $50-million.

As Florida sinks into obscurity in education.

Time for another tax cut! Let's have a gas tax holiday! Where's my economic stimulous package?

Yep, rather than work on TAX REFORM the REPUBLICAN LEAD LEGISLATURE wasted time on baggy pants, truck nutzzz, state songs, and corporate welfare.
Remember in November.

Missing money? Did anybody check CSX? I bet it went there.

Alex . . . How much was really lost? It isn't how much was missing in March and April . . . How much does this missed estimate (about the sixth estimate that has overestimated actual collections in a row) actually mean that the next estimate will go down for the next budget year? The answer is probably another billion dollars or more. These Republicans need to explain why all of their tax breaks haven't worked to "fix" the economy. Why hasn't it worked? They have passed the two largest tax cuts in succession over the past 12 months and the economy is worse now that it was 12 or 18 months ago. Is it possible that their models are wrong? IT IS MORE THAN JUST POSSIBLE!

Unrine trickles down. Common bread dough rises.
Republicans keep selling voodoo economics and too many voters keep buying it.
Taxes are the price of living in civilization.

1:41 - yes taxes may be the price, but taxes are not generated without economic activity - so that's why when tax rates are reduced then overall tax revenue rises, because people generate economic activity with more of their own money in their pocket - why is that so hard for ignorant liberals to get

9:23 I guess we don't "get it" because you've been using it as an excuse since Reagan - and it hasn't worked yet. At least you could invent a new flavor, if you want people to keep on drinking.

Hows that $240 bucks working out for ya?
Posted by: | May 22, 2008 at 12:29 PM
12:18 - yes it has worked - tax revenue grew exponentially during the 80's, slowed a little after the clinton tax increase in the 90's, and then picked up again after the bush tax cuts
the rise in tax revenue is always overshadowed by an even larger rise in spending - so get that
