Business groups try to block 'guns-to-work'
Having already filed a lawsuit challenging the new "guns-to-work" law, two top business groups today asked for a court injunction to prevent it from going into effect July 1.
“This law is unnecessary and a violation of the private property rights provided by the Constitution,” said Mark Wilson, president and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. “We are taking this action to restore what 80 percent of Florida voters believe to be true—that a business owner should be able to decide if employees can or cannot bring guns on their property.”
Though hopeful a court will act soon, the Chamber warned business owners to prepare for the law going into effect "since the timing and outcome of the court’s ruling cannot be certain."
The legislation allows employees with concealed weapons permits to bring firearms with them and keep them locked in their vehicles. Businesses with policies against that would face penalties.

This isn't about private property rights.

That, and the fact that the trial lawyers have the republicans by the balls.

The Chamber and Retailers should move to France with all the other gun banners.

And take your dirty campaign contributions with you. We have the trial bar to take care of us.

Funny how the NRA banned all weapons during parts of its convention???
Even pocket knives were banned???
But, we taxpayer citizens must, under any condition allow guns on our private property. Hmmmm Hypocrites!

I'm looking forward to reading how the courts are going untangle this legislative mess.

Listen up, both sides. The GOP only cares about winning elections and they will lie to you and then toss you aside when they've got what they want. The GOP is all about making the top 1% of this country even more rich and buddy if you ain't one of them now you never will be. They make promises to both sides and then leave you hanging out to dry. As you're finding out right now.

Your car is also private property. This bill should have been referred to as "Guns in your car bill," but its just not as sexy as "guns at work." Employers can still ban employees from bringing guns into their building, this just allows someone to have a firearm in their car. As a citizen with a CCW, I can carry a firearm into any business and keep a gun in my car everywhere except when prohibited by Florida law. Why shouldn't an employee at least be allowed to keep their gun in their car to protect them to and from work?
6:48 And who is the NRA selling out? Isn't their whole point of existence to protect gun rights?
10:26 Listen up everybody, 10:26 is an idiot and can't debate a point without spitting out the typical talking points about the top 1%.

stop quoting your ridiculous push poll mark. 80% of Floridians don't give a crap.

NRA didn't ban weapons at their convention- the secret service protecting McCain demanded that measure.

9:45... Why Pocket Knives? Unless they were concerned about the general population of those in attendence.
Many people that went to that particular portion of the convention said they thought it was totally nuts, to ban guns, but especially Pocket Knives.
All the people in attendence had been vetted, had tickets and name tags.
Many of NRA members left the convention in disgust. And blew off the entire weekend of events.

Ask the Secret Service, not NRA. NRA has never had such a policy at any of its past conventions so clearly it is not their policy. By the way- NRA does not prohibit its employees from bringing firearms to work (not just locked in their cars) which is the real issue here.
