Crist's plane forced back to Fla
Gov. Charlie Crist and several staffers were headed to Washington Tuesday afternoon when a series of malfunctions on a state plane forced them to turn around and land in Tallahassee.
Spokeswoman Erin Isaac said pilots of the the twin engine Cessna Citation reported three minor equipment malfunctions dealing with the plane's tail, autopilot and steering. Crist "kept talking to the rest of us to keep us preoccupied," Isaac said.
She estimated the plane was over the middle of Georgia when the decision was made to turn around. The plane landed safely in Tallahassee at about 5:15 p.m. Crist was flying with three staffers and an FDLE agent along with two pilots.
He was headed to Washington for meetings Wednesday with U.S. Sen Mel Martinez and other and other officials on Florida issues and that he would make the trip on another plane in the morning.

poetic justice.
Too bad "sun tan" Charlie's uumpteenth trip to DC to audition for VP on the Florida taxpayer dime was short circuited.
I hope upon his return to TLH airport, Chuck was able to find his way back to his office in the Capital building.
Things happen for a reason Charlie. Try staying in state and doing the job you were elected to once in awhile!

Didn't midflight airplane problems happen once during the gub campaign too?
Posted by: | May 06, 2008 at 06:33 PM
Was it forced back so he can work on FL problems?

The Gov's airline budget was "reduced" this year as well.

You guys have this all wrong. Sun tan Charlie got a call just after take off. It was Idaho Senator Larry Craig. He was waiting for Charles in charge in the bathroom back at the airport in Tallahassee. Chaz demanded the plane turn around immediately.

Was Carol on board as well? Can't imagine her missing out ona trip to DC too.

Maybe he should try picking up the phone or use videoconferencing and save the taxpayers some money. Maybe then our universities wouldn't have to make such deep budget cuts.

7:59 (Mrs. Crist)
It's time to give Chuck his cookies and milk and tuck him in for the night.
And don't forget to wake him up early so he doesn't miss his lap swimming in the Gov's mansion pool with those fancy solar panel thingies!
You must not have taught young Chuck the lesson about "a day's work for a day's pay" did you?

The headline should read:
Crist sighted in Tallahassee!!!

not all politicians get airplaines. only charlie. federal legislators travel commercial.
Posted by: | May 06, 2008 at 10:27 PM
C'mon guys, give Charlie a break. He's umpteen times better than JEB... It ain't Charlie's fault that the National economy is in the tank. JEB deserves much credit for Florida's problems today. JEB was simply interested in funding the private sector. He could've cared less about State employees...and stated as much.

Whatever it takes to keep him in Florida to do his job.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt? He's killing Florida and it's people!!

Where's Katherine Harris when you need her?!

Typical Crist, there's a crisis and all he can do is run his big fat mouth like nothing's the matter whatsoever.

The plane went on its own and went on strike to leave the state of FLorida - out of principal. The plane was tired of Crist campaigning for his VP spot and not doing his job, so it turne around to bring him back to his office.

Why DOES he have a plane anyway? With all the cuts that are being made and we're picking up the tab for a special flight for this idiot?
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 08:53 AM
I can't believe that equipment malfunctions have been able to do what the citizens of Florida can't - keep Cristi in the state.
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 09:08 AM
Crist kept talking, telling others on plane malfunctioning steering is no big deal, while the other passengers were holding onto their seats with white knuckles praying a mile a minute.
Kinda sounds like Crist telling Floridians Florida's economy is strong.

I wonder what party affiliation most of the Crist bashers are?
Democrat?
Republican?
Libertarian?
National Socialist, meaning Nazi?
Communist?
