Speaker Marco Rubio has a bright future in politics. We'll be hearing a lot from him in Florida politics.

Nevermind Marco, how about we start celebrating a bigger departure. Its the Second of May, Bucher's last day...

Yep, you have much to cheer about - he gave almost a BILLION for corporate welfare while "reducing" spending on abused children, adoption programs, chronically and severely ill children, the elderly, the severely mentally and physically handicapped and nursing home inspections (the staffing standards are just "suggestions" if there aren't inspections and enforcement actions).
Yep, he kept taxes down for the Rich - everyone else is paying dramatically higher FEES (another word for taxes) - but hey - those who purchase skyboxes, superbowl tickets and other highend items thank you!
He certainly made sure that state employees continue to fall behind (lowest paid in nation) while he got his friends jobs at $10,000 a month and $265 million contracts - AT THE SAME TIME he and the other PART-TIMERS receive FREE HEALTH INSURNCE (family plan), FREE DENTAL INSURANCE (family plan), double the per diem rate, and over $4,000 additional spending money for "having" to come to Tallahassee and fly home each weekend (at $700 a pop). Oh yea.
Remember this November.

Thank God it's over! Good riddance Rubio. Don't let the door hit ya...
Can't wait for the next weasel Rivera to drop. That chamber is going to need a good cleaning to get rid of the slime left by those two.

Does this mean the portrait of the dude with the ZZ Topp beard is gone?
Posted by: | May 02, 2008 at 07:35 AM
nah, it will be displayed in the Old Capitol!

Again- if you consider these folks part time you are sadly mistaken. AND they get the state per diem except for the 60 days when they are forced to MOVE and leave their family and homes and other jobs and then they get Federal Per Diem to pay for that extra HOUSE they have to rent. And would you stop slamming the Legislature for providing health insurance when that's all you want for everyone else?
Posted by: | May 02, 2008 at 09:08 AM
They didn't get the federal rate until the gift ban, which made it impossible to live on that rate.
Posted by: | May 02, 2008 at 09:10 AM
6:12 - right on!
Posted by: | May 02, 2008 at 09:28 AM
6:12 - AMEN!!
Posted by: | May 02, 2008 at 09:37 AM
Humm, but that's the rate regular state employees have to "live on" when they travel on state business! AND, these PART-TIME members receive FREE HEALTH INSURANCE (family plan), FREE DENTAL INSURANCE (family plan and a plan that regular state employees ARE NOT ALLOWED to purchase), and over $4,000 additional money for their 60 days of "work" AND they fly home Friday afternoons and return Monday afternoon for their 3-day work week (except for the last couple of weeks of session).
Yep, they feel our pain as they oink their way to the trough!

9:42 you are freaking idiot!

Making room for Marco means making room for his inflated head. Better bump Dumbo from the Disney wall of fame.

Is the State of Florida Per Diem still $3 dollars for breakfast before 7:00 am on the day of commencement of travel?
Posted by: | May 02, 2008 at 10:30 AM
rubio = next kitty harris
Posted by: | May 02, 2008 at 05:11 PM
5:11 - $3... on top of what someone would have paid for breakfast, be it eaten in their kitchen, at a drive-thru, or some place you can sit down...
People like you make it seem like you don't eat at home and are forced to eat while travelling on business...

As of today (or yesterday), he became a "has been". His political future, unless in Miami-Dade County, is over.

Whatever happened to Katherine Harris?
And her "tell all" book she promised us?
