Here we go again. The St. Pete Times and the never ending attempt to unseat and humiliate a man who has watched over this county probably longer than most of these reporters have been alive. If you have lived in Pinellas County for several years or more, You probably have been "in touch" with Mr. Young in one way or the other. If it wasn't a VA problem, a social security problem, a visa problem, a medical problem, a military problem a housing problem or many other problems people encounter in their lifetime, he has been there for the people of Pinellas County and the USA. Now some of us might not have gotten the results we hoped for, but at least Mr. Young and his well established and knowledgeable staff gave it a damn good try.
Just because this is supposed to be the year of the democrat doesn't mean we should "oust" a good thing when we see it. My understanding is Youngs family is very diverse in their political parties which shows Young is here to just "do the job".
How sad a newspaper, who knows well what MR. Young has done for this county and country and I am sure has helped many employees at the Times as well with personal issues would do what they are trying to do.
I am democrat, always have been, and have always been a financial supporter of Mr. Young.
The Times needs to focus on the "do nothing" members of Congress and let Mr. Young and his staff do their job instead of wasting our time fighting off the Times campaign. There are plenty of Democrats and Republicans who only give face time, but you won't see the Times going after a Democrat for that.

Hackworth doesn't know politics very well and it was stupid and rude of him as a sitting office holder to jump parties and try to unseat a fellow office holder to just get a better job. Shame on you Hackworth. You have lost the support of fellow Republicans in Pinellas and you will never get the support of the democrats because of your stupid little stunt. So, is Hackworth now embracing abortion on demand, increased taxation, more social programs (read welfare)now?

Well, come to think of it he has been pushing "workforce housing" agendas a lot in the last few years. Evidently he has been working up a socialist head of steam so he could head out on a new track.

Of course he will claim he presided over cutting taxes. Nonsense, he wrote at least one editorial disagreeing with the role the State Legislature played in doing what those like him on the city commission couldn't muster up the courage to do.

Now he and his sister want the tooth fairy to pay millions of dollars for a piece of waterfront property so it can be taken off the tax roll and never developed so that the burden can be lessened on other taxpayers.

The more I think about it Hackworth really needed to have a coming out party. Good thing he can now be who he really is politcally.

When I saw the headline "Meet Bill Young's challengers" in the St Pete Times, I was looking forward to learning more about the three Democratic candidates.

Instead, the article was about the opinions of one person, so-called Proferssor Darryl Paulson.

False advertising indeed.

We've all heard the saying, "Those who can, do. Those who can’t do, teach."

Like the academia elite, Paulson clearly had a thesis: that Dems are using 2008 to set up for 2010 in District 10.

If you ask the three Democratic candidates, they are all running to win. Now.

Too bad the St Pete Times did a disservice to its readers by not objectively reporting on the three candidates (although each candidate was interviewed at length).
