Obama coming to Tampa Bay

Details to come, but Barack Obama is set to do some kind of public campaign event in Tampa Bay on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 21.

Coming the day after he's likely to win a majority of elected delegates in Oregon and Kentucky (and a potentially logical day for Hillary Clinton to exit), Obama's Tampa Bay stop is is part of a three-day campaign swing through Florida. It's the first time since August that the Illinois senator has been willing do campaign in Florida outside of private fundraisers.

Obama’s major weakness to be taken advantage of by the Republicans is his absolutely retrograde economic policies.

Raising taxes in the midst of an economic slowdown and abandoning the U.S. commitment to a system of more open trade (a system of which the U.S. has been the number one beneficiary for the past 50 years) would be an absolute disaster for the future growth and job creation opportunities of the U.S. economy.

McCain should make advocacy of low tax rates, free trade and economic growth and Obama’s opposition to all three the centerpiece of a winning campaign. McCain does not need Rev. Wright et al to defeat Obama. Obama’s socialist and archaic approach to our economy is enough to give McCain the edge....at least with me and several other conservative Democrats.

Agreed on most of your points. However, much of the economic slowdown has been caused by massive debts that have in turn weaked the US dollar. If McCain is truly committed to economic recovery via tax cuts, he must also pledge to rein in government spending as well. Treasury announced today that the federal government is at it's largest number...ever.

Since McCain is committed to war spending, committeed to tax cuts - where is it he plans to cut? Or will he cut at all?

Also - what is his view on Bernanke's job, success/failure? Would McCain be open to a Fed Chair who has the guts to raise interest rates, which is what helped stabilize us in the 80's.

Since 1916, no Democrat has ever been elected President without winning West Virginia. Tonight, Hillary Clinton has destroyed Barak Obama there! If the Dems want to win the Presidency, we must nominate Clinton. Obama is just not electable. She is the only Democrat who can beat John McCain.

It will be a blowout for John McCane if Obama gets the nomination. He can't wing the swing states.

Do you believe everything you see posted by random strangers on the internet? His Bush tax figures appear accurate enough (except you don't pay taxes on what you "make"...you pay taxes on your "taxable income," and we all receive at least a personal deduction.) His Obama figures, however, are pulled from thin air. Instead of making such a momentous decision based on a post by a stranger on a message board, why don't you research it yourself? This is a perfect example of the reason we're in this mess today...that's where blind faith in every negative, fear-mongering, sound-bite we hear gets us...
