Top Crist advisor on disabled resigns

Janejohnson Gov. Charlie Crist's top advisor for the developmentally disabled, Jane Johnson, resigned Friday. She will leave her post as secretary of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities at the end of the month. APD spokeswoman Melanie Etters said Friday: "She said she has been working so hard, and she's just ready to do something different." Johnson faced a $153-million deficit in the agency a year ago, but Etters said the decific has shrunk to about $9-million.

Is this the beginning of the exodus?

Jane was such a committed advocate for the disabled, she must have gone insane working for a state government that wants to cut her services. Blast them Jane, you know you want too!

The members of the Legislature couldn't care less about the diabled - because most of them don't vote and don't have a ton of money to give to their campaigns!!!

... that's a loss

5:59 You got that right!

An exceptional woman who inherited a mess and was asked to do a great deal with very little resources. They should appoint one of the legislators who screamed the loudest but did nothing to fund the needs of the agency.

She may have been good, but she was served poorly by the staff below her. It's tough to lead any agency if you don't take immediatel clean the place of dead weght. A mistake way too many people make when stepping into a job they didn't simply move up into.

Unfortunately, probably one of those dead weights will now be in charge.

sounds like an opportunity for Murman or Bowen or Pickens or Bean. my pick would be put Holly there and move Murman in to AHCA.

Murman? doesn't she live in Tampa and isn't she a lobbyist?

Bowen would be a real asset for the Governor and I think she lives in Tallahassee.

Bowen gets agriculture commissioner

Bronson still has two years

Bowen would be awsome at the agency for persons with disabilities. She is an exceptional woman.

Bowen deserves a bigger appointment then that. She will be sorely missed in the legislature. She was a class act.

Where was Jane before? Wasn't she a lobbyist? Murman could do it. Bring back the institutional knowledge Charlie.

Is she also resigning from the Autism Task Force? I hope so, she was against the autism bill. Not much of an advocate.
