Why not count FL votes, Obama?
Rules are rules and all that. But Barack Obama has all but clinched the
nomination, Hillary Clinton can't catch up in delegates or popular vote even if Michigan and Florida are suddenly counted 100%. So why doesn't the presumptive nominee take the issue off the table, make nice with the Sunshine state, and join Sen. Bill Nelson's call to fully seat Florida's delegation based on Jan. 29 but only give delegates half a vote? More specifically, cut that half so she nets 19 delegates rather than a measly 6 that would keep her campaign complaining about disenfranchisement.
Obama campaign manager David Plouffe: "Obviously there's a lot of discussion about remedies in Florida and we've expressed openness to those. I think the Clinton campaign has been less willing to consider anything other than full seating of the delegates and so we're hopeful that dialogue will continue. And again I don't think the results of Florida and Michigan are going to be used in any way to overturn the outcome of this election. ...
"Florida is the one state where we probably suffer the most from lack of campaign activity compared to the rest of the country and yet (a Quinnipiac poll last week showed) a dead heat with us and John McCain. We believe Florida is going to be an enormously competitive state in the fall, and we're anxious once we get this nomination behind us to build a winning campaign in the state of FL."

What do you think he is...stupid? Obama played by the rules. If you want to call someone on the carpet to make nice, send the Florida party leaders up to Dean with their hats in hand. Ya'll blew it and you know it.

Hey Buzzard, How did Obama play by the rules and Hillary did not????? Obama is the only candidate that ran media ads in the state. Neither campaigned here (will Obama did one week prior to signing the pledge.)
So how did Hillary violate the pledge (as Obama did)???

meant to type...
"well" not "will" Obama did. Those nasty spelling nazi's will jump all over the i instead of e thing.
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 03:19 PM
Oh and another thing. Neither candidate will reach 2,025 delegates. Especially, since Hillary is 30 - 40 points ahead of Obama in both West Virginia and Kentucky, and is kicking butt in Puerto Rico. It will come down to the Super Delegates and they can choose to vote for who they believe will be the best candidate in the General Election.

Count Florida’s votes as votes, split Florida’s Delegates 50/50, discount Michigan’s inequitable Primary completely, split Michigan’s Delegates 50/50, fire Howeird Dunce, kick the Republican consultant (Thurmadrunk) to the curb while you’re at it, and vote every incumbent our of office at our first available chance.
Problem Solved!
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 03:23 PM
Count the votes from Jan. 29th Hillary won FL by 17%! Obama choose to take his name off of the ballot in MI.
DNC rules state that "NO State can be striped of more than 1/2 of their delegates. So, Hillary will get the majority of votes in FL and MI. As she should!

buzzard how did Obama play by the rules? better yet how did hillary not?
waiting on your explanation.
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 03:29 PM
Hillary’s arrogance will not allow her to see reality. She will push it and push it until the voters, delegates, and super delegates push her out. Some Dems will brute for a week or two, FOX, CNN, and Rush Limpdick will have fun proclaiming that the Dems are so split and dysfunctional that McSame is a shoe-in… then… the first McSame/Obama debate will happen, McSame will go off on a tangent about the under-cooked fish he had at Morrison’s… reality will return, Obama will win in November, and we will have a chance to return this great Nation to the power and respect position it once held.

The last desperate cries of a desperate campaign. Perhaps its time to pull the plug for good.
I saw a poll suggesting the less educated one is, the more likely they were to vote for Hillary.
That should tell you all you need to know.
Posted by: Omega83 | May 07, 2008 at 03:32 PM
That is true Omega.
And Obama garners the votes college kids who think they have all the world's problems figured out at age 21.
Obama has the naive and Clinton has the uneducated.
God help us.
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 03:39 PM
Omega, where did you see that poll? I happen to be a pollster and research every poll taken to date that has any relevence to this primary. I can't for the life of me find that one. Care to share where you saw it?
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 03:44 PM
I tried to "be a pollster" once... a really big bouncer threw me out of the club and Redner was pissed.

Very insightful. you must be an absolute genius. so much so you that you absolutely must have voted for hillary.

Education and life experience are two entirerly different things. The under 30 yr. olds that support Obama are in college because everyone today must have a college education to get a job anywhere. Whereas, the older Hillary supporters that have life experience (which I value their opinion more than the under 30's)I would not call them less educated. Their education is from the school of hard knocks.
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 04:06 PM
And educated, older and wiser folks vote Republican.
If you're not a liberal at age 20 you have no heart. If you're not a conservative at age 40, you have no brains.
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 04:19 PM
Hey, I'm not knocking Morrison's meatloaf, it damn good... you should try the creamed corn with it. But make sure you have a fresh pair of depends on... cause you be a dribbling all the way out the door... kind of like McSame at a debate!
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 04:21 PM
If another country had decided not to count the votes in two of its provinces or regions, we'd be raising holy hell.
Posted by: Crist will not be VP | May 07, 2008 at 04:25 PM
The under 30s support Obama because George Bush is saddling them with a future of debt and sending their friends off to die in a war for corporate gain.
The older middle class crowd support Hilary becasue George Bush has destroyed labor unions, subsidized corporate welfare while sending jobs overseas, and is trying to privatize their Social Security.
Now watch how easily they unite in November against their common enemy, the heir to the BUSH legacy. Democrats are divided in their reasons for voting DEM, but I seriously doubt that's going to get many crossover votes for McSame.

"And educated, older and wiser folks vote Republican."
Ummmm... Buahahahahahahahaaaaa... Oh, that's a fera.. Hahahahahaa... I can't help myself... Hahahahahahaaaaaa... educated, older and wiser folks vote Republican... Hahahahahahahaaaa... that's freaking rich... hahahahahahaaa... oh yeah, you freaking wizbangs gave us Dybya and Dicky... twice!.. Hahahahahahahaaaa... whooooooooo... that's a hoot... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA...

So when "school of hard knocks" voters support the gas tax holiday and "educated" voters do not - whose judgement should we trust?
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 04:30 PM
Someone please explain how George W. Bush "sent jobs overseas." Did he suddenly join the Board of a Fortune 5 company, or was he named CEO? Firms ultimately make their personnel and labor decisions independent of government. Sure government policies have an impact on that decision, but ultimately its the final call of the firm.
If you don't like companies that do that - simply buy American - just don't complain about the price if you do.
PS. The reason Toyota outsells GM is more the fault of the UAW than anything else.

Omega... ummmm. let's see, where to start, where to start... wow... ummm... oh for God's sake it ain't worth it...
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 04:42 PM
George Bush didn't send any young people overseas either! What, did he suddenly turn up to pilot a troop transport? Sure, the fact that he lied about the WMD may have had something to do with it, but ultimately, the kids just sprouted wings and flew themselves over to Iraq. What do you think he was, President for 8 years or something?

There is no doubt that Dubya and Dickey will go down in the history books as the greatest POTUS and VPOTUS this world has ever seen.
… of course there will only be a two-book printing, and each of them will get one.
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 04:57 PM
Omega,
How about tax breaks to companies for shipping jobs overseas? Does that qualify?
Run a quick Google search before posting idiotic responses.
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 04:57 PM
BANG-O-RANG, 4:57!
Posted by: | May 07, 2008 at 05:00 PM
Did the government encourage the deployment? Yes.
Did it actually make the decision to do it? No
Do you think that repealing those tax breaks will bring jobs back or keep more from leaving? You would be naiive
How about actually reading and comprehending my posts before making idiotic comments. Your ignorance and lack of reasoning skills is quite appalling. You must support Hillary Clinton.
Posted by: Omega83 | May 07, 2008 at 05:32 PM
Omega,
Yes, I do think that it would help if we eliminate taxes for companies that ship jobs overseas and give those same tax breaks to help defray the increased costs to companies that create jobs here.
If you don't think that would help, please explain?
And to the bloggers above who suggested that Republicans are more educated, I think your guru, Karl Rove said it best:
"As people do better, they start voting like Republicans - unless they have too much education and vote Democratic, which proves there can be too much of a good thing."
Posted by: Flagophile | May 08, 2008 at 09:29 AM
*Rove,
Posted by: Flagophile | May 08, 2008 at 09:30 AM
Flagophile,
As long as other nations compete for the price of labor, American companies will look overseas if the bottom-line cost to do business is less.
If the defrayed costs to businesses keeping jobs here equates to less cost, then it will work. Otherwise, companies will ALWAYS seek the lowest cost possible...and that will continue to quite often be overseas labor.
Would you pay an autoworker $60 an hour to do the same job in Detroit that one in Juarez could do for $10?
How do you think that affects to the final price of the Ford?

Bill Nelson is an idiot! Why people continue to vote for this guy is totally beyond me. For he to say anything relevant and intelligent would be the first time it ever happened.
