Why Obama can win FL

MEMO TO: Sen. Barack Obama

Re: Blowing off 27 electoral votes

Thanks for coming by next week for a three-day campaign swing, senator.

There has been lots of chatter about you ceding Florida to Sen. John McCain, given the way you've ignored the state for eight months and dismissed the 1.75-million Democrats who voted in our disputed Democratic primary. We're trying not to take it personally when you keep talking about the old electoral map — i.e. Pennsylvania, Ohio and US! — being so 2000/2004.

But here's something you and your advisers might be missing: Florida is turning bluer by the day.

The trend is easy to miss when you see the popularity of our Republican governor, Charlie Crist. Add John Kerry's five-point loss here in 2004 and Jeb Bush's 2002 landslide re-election as the DNC's top target, and nobody could blame you for thinking Florida is solidly Republican red.

Take a closer look, though, because Florida's political landscape is shifting dramatically. More here.

BUSH, I believe that's the reason.

BUSH, McBUSH, McSAME!

4 MORE YEARS!

I feel ill.

Obama will not be President because he is not yet ready to be the leader of the free world...

George Bush was not ready to be leader of the free world, so he tried to take away our freedom with something called the Patriot Act. Obama will be a good President, if the GOP gives him a chance.

Who said this world was free?

The trendlines are undeniable. The math is moving in favor of the Democrats, who arguably also have all the momentum these days.

Was Adam Smith listening to "when you wish upon a star" when he penned this little piece of democratic spin?

Obama will not win FL, in fact he will lose it by a larger margin than it was lost in 2000/2004

Adam, good job. This repub agrees with you and I am frightened by the fact that my fellow repubs can't see what is happening.

Obama is an anti-semite

4:04 yawn...

I use to be an "anti-semite"... then I bought a Kenworth and now I just love 'em!

McSame is the most creative name for McCain. You guys should be so proud and pat yourselves on the back for coming up with that one. Its the bees knees!

I tried to reach over my shoulder and pat myself on the back once... I ended up hitting Alberto on the chin!

bottom line, america is not ready for a felame or a black president. you don't have to like it, but that is how it is.

Adam:

Your article assumes, without analysis, that Obama is in a position to advantage himself of the changing demographics in Florida that you identify as favoring the Dems. I disagree.

Obama is a candidate, whose campaign is imploding, even as he staggers toward the nomination, bleeding from Wright inflicted and self inflicted wounds. Rev. Wright, the man whom Obama stated he could no more disavow than his own mother, has proven to be an ignorant, virulent racist, who, for starters, believes that whites introduced the AIDS epidemic into Africa. It has gotten so bad in Obamaland that polls taken in the recent Vest Virginia primary show that 50% of the Dem primary voters identify Obama with Wright's views. It goes along way towards explaining why Obama lost the primary by more than 30 points against a candidate, who stands almost no chance of securing the nomination.

And that was BEFORE the "sweetie" remark, but AFTER the remark that working Americans in their ignorance and desperation turn to guns and religion. And what about Obama's willingness to meet without precondition with leaders of terrorist states, a stance that understandably has not played well with jewish voters?

I could go on, but hopefully the point is made that Obama currently is not well positioned to appeal to key Dem constituencies in Florida, such as the conservative Dem voters in north Florida etc.

Do we want Jeremiah Wright or his cohorts to ever have the chance to stay in the Lincoln bedroom in the White House?"
Just say No to Obama & Wright!

I'm a typical white person, and I approve this message.

It would be disgusting just to think about Barack Obama or Jeremiah Wright setting foot inside the White House.

NO FRIGGIN WAY I WILL EVER, EVER VOTE FOR OBAMA!

My vote goes to McCain. If he wins, Hillary likely would re-run in 2012.

zenator- Obama's imploding campaign? Stop parroting Sean Hannity. You are smarter than that.

5:51 don't you have a klan meeting to go to? or are you too busy beating your wife?

Forget the "Messiah" crap for a second and ask yourself why the rest of the world is going conservative, yet the U.S. of A. is becoming more liberal. Italy, France, U.K., Greece and Germany elected conservatives during the latest ballot after years of liberal leadership. Why would this be?
Spain and Australia decided to go with a liberal candidate during this time, but Spain was train bombed into it 3 days before the election and Australia is just a strait away from Indonesia which is a hub for Islamic Terrorists in SE Asia. It seems that the latter countries want to placate the terrorists, but there is no placating zealots who want to cut your throat. So do you think the "Messiah" will protect us? Afterall, that IS his most important duty.

Barack Obama has low support from democrat white blue collar working Americans. You can't win without them.

He is not electable. Vote John McCain in November, then Hillary can re-run in 2012.

From Washighton Times:

Poll: Nearly one-third of Dems would back Clinton indy bid

http://video1.washingtontimes.com/bellantoni/2008/05/poll_nearly_onethird_of_dems_w.html

This stuff about Clinton voters supporting Obama is complete bunk. We are in the middle of a heated primary---of course they are going to say that. But when the primary comes in for a landing, Democrats will unite because the goal of beating George Bush ERRR John McCain is more important.

The McCain supporters on this wall should worry about the tens of thousands of voters in swing Florida counties switching to the Democratic party over the last two years and the 25-30% of Republican primary voters who are STILL voting for someone other than McCain in the primaries, not to mention that Democratic turnout continues to exceed Republican turnout by ridiculous ratios.

Save the free world. Vote Barack Obama.

Create a socialistic/communistic America--vote for Osama Obama!!!

He The Man!

7:18

I invite you to review the cross-tabs on polls from swing states, such as Ohio, study the national trends among key Dem voting groups over the past 30 days, and examine the voter demographics reflected in West Virginia and NC primaries.

Ask yourself why, despite his insurmountable delegate lead and his enormous financial advantage, isn't Obama closing the deal with the Dem primary voters?

7:54

Right now the Rs have a 3 month lead advantage of coming together to unite. By the time the Ds have a presumptive nominee the Rs will have a 4 month advantage. All McCain has done during this time is sit back and takes notes of every single comment made by Obama or Clinton to then use it to his advantage during the last 5 months of campaigning.

The GOP spin team is out in force, trying to talk up every issue but the main one. Unfortunately for McSame, it's the one that going to cost the GOP the whole show.

9:44- If the GOP has had three months to gel, how come 25-30% of GOP voters are still voting for someone else?

I give up. All you righties convinced me to go with McCain so he can raise/cut taxes, and grant amnesty/put up a wall for illegals, and stay in Iraq for another 5/50/100 years, along with more campaign finance reform/manipulation.

But what I really want is a guy who will say "My friend..." over and over and over for the next 2/3/4 years.

Oh my God!
Black.
Can't Bowl.
Don't know nuthin' bout no guns.
How is this old honkey man ever going to manage to vote for HIM?
Golly gee! What a dilemma I'm facing here.

How is the GOP spin team going to lower the price of Gas that I have been paying? How are they going to explain why 80% of Americans have less disposable income than they did in 2000? How are they going to spin that national debt? How are they going to convince me that social security is better off? What is the magic trick they are going to perform to create the illusion that the border is secure and illegal aliens are not overcrowding our hospitals and schools? Spin that HUGE PIECE OF PORK FARM BILL the GOP got sloppy with when the lights were dim. I can't wait for McAmnesty to spin how his stance against a Constitutional Marriage Amendment is acceptable in light of the California Supreme Court ruling.

As a lifelong conservative Republican all I can say now is the GOP only has spin left to offer and that is not going to get it this fall.

Mr.Obama thinks women are sweeties and not too smart. So, if he wants to win he needs to stop acting like he thinks he is superior to women. O, he pats the shoulders but he doesn't think we are likable enough..and that Bill Richardson should have shut up because he made Latinos seem like traitors.Loyalty is a virtue.
Also, too many old rich loser men dote on Obama...Dodd,
Kennedy,Edwards,Kerry.
Obama needs some people from the rest of the USA not those tiresome old guys..their losses will rub off on Obama.

I'll be at the Forum on Wednesday to hear live the next President of the United States - Senator Barack Obama

Attended Obama's Vote for Change last weekend in Tampa, and have to say, for an old political junkie, I was very impressed with the number of folks who came out (more than 60), got trained on how to properly help citizens become Registered Voters and then we hit the ground running .... more than 80 new registrations in Hillsborough County, and another almost 30 registering Vote by Mail.

And it took the "skinny black guy with the funny name" to inspired and empower people to become part of the change.

See you at the Forum Adam - I'll be the balding white man in the Obama t-shirt.

McBush!!McBush!!McBush!!

from TPM:

HERES JOHNNIE MCAINUS ON HAMMAS TWO YEARS AGO, FREAKINGLYINGBASTARD!!:

STILL LIKE'IM, JACKASSES??

"McCain, meanwhile, is guilty of hypocrisy. I am a supporter of Hillary Clinton and believe that she was right to say, about McCain's statement on Hamas, "I don't think that anybody should take that seriously." Unfortunately, the Republicans know that some people will. That's why they say such things.

But given his own position on Hamas, McCain is the last politician who should be attacking Obama. Two years ago, just after Hamas won the Palestinian parliamentary elections, I interviewed McCain for the British network Sky News's "World News Tonight" program. Here is the crucial part of our exchange:

I asked: "Do you think that American diplomats should be operating the way they have in the past, working with the Palestinian government if Hamas is now in charge?"

McCain answered: "They're the government; sooner or later we are going to have to deal with them, one way or another, and I understand why this administration and previous administrations had such antipathy towards Hamas because of their dedication to violence and the things that they not only espouse but practice, so . . . but it's a new reality in the Middle East. I think the lesson is people want security and a decent life and decent future, that they want democracy. Fatah was not giving them that."

Iran was nothing until Bush got into office. If McCain gets elected, I wonder which country he will bring to the forefront.

Read about the two queerish "pretty boys" Edwards and Obama, from a females standpoint. Oh, I bet these two just make the chills go up the thighs of some of their male supporters on this blog! Tells you a lot about why the working class guy won't vote for Obama!

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/16/AR2008051603275.html

As Arnie says: "Girlie Men"!

10:02 & 10:18

When last I looked, the thread topic did not concern McCain. It was addressed to Obama's chances of winning Florida in the general election.

10:02 & 10:19:

Hugs and kisses to you! Bet you are one of those girlie men!! Have you tried the foot tapping in the public johns that Republicans are noted for? Maybe that would satisfy some of the frustrations you exhibit in your comments about McCain. Man, you have a big problem! There is counseling available and some Churches have said they can convert girlie men back to "normal". Of course, it looks like you are too far along with your "affection" for Obama.

Good points. I was beginning to wonder about this anti-McCain, Obama lover. You called it.

ClydeCracker---that's a hoot!!!

Obama's just flat a... wrong about Iran in his foreign policy position. Unfortunately for him, Bush brought him up short and put him on the defensive---which is where he will be thoughout the general election. Bye, bye Obama.

BROUGHT UP SHORT BY A PATHOLOGICALLYLYINGDRUNK...

jackasses too stupid to even comprehend what is going on in the world around them!!!!

Stay Vigilant… Security Level Red… Buy Duct Tape… Attack is Imminent… Vote Republicon or we’ll All Die… Vote McSame or we won’t be rich –errr- I mean safe…

Love,

Tired Corporate Controlled Rhetoric!

Now Girly Man, don't overreact! Sweetie, things will get better for you come November after McCain creams your lover.

obama will lose....

that was the plan from the beginning and the sheeple took the bait!

Discovered on Greta Wire Blog that the Obama people are paying folks to come on the blogs and support Obama.

Be careful of what you read on the Internet. Obama trolls are in full force mode. For example, below is an Obama supporter faking as a Hillary supporter:

"I’m a big Hillary supporter and I do think she should continue her campaign to June 3. But I realize that Obama will be the nominee and I will vote for him. Voting for John McCain never even crossed my mind. That would be insane! He’s a Bush clone. The last thing we need is more wars and more failed economy. I’m sad Hillary lost. But Obama will be a good president. Much better than George W Bush or John McCain!"

You may also read things like...Let's unite the party to save America from 8 years of Republicans.

Obama campaign team has thousands of trolls (most especially college students) on mainstream media and major blog sites posting comments trying to change the dynamics of this election.

Be careful what you read. You will find these trolls on major sites like: CNN, Washington Post, Huffington Post, DailyKos, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, NYTimes, WSJ, MoveOn.Org and more.

Save America from Marxist in Liberal clothing!! Question the source of the pro-Obama posts on this and all blogs.

Obama, the worst candidate for our country. Find out why:

http://www.humanevents.com/offers/offer.php?id=bho101

Polls says most white blue-collered middle Americans will not vote for Obama.

Turn out the lights if he gets the nomination over Hillary.

interesting piece this a.m. on "sunday edition", on npr:

nonpartisan pollsters have found rural voters in 13 states at about 50/50 mcAiNUS/hillary, mcAiNUS about 9 points ahead of obama.

sound good?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

history shows mcAiNUS needs far more than a 9 point lead coming out of the land of the mouthbreathingracists to overcome the educatedurban/suburban vote obama will get.

given that a notable portion of hillary voters will get on board with obama, mcAiNUS is in a world of hurt ALREADY and it will get worse and worse as the public realizes what an empty suit mcAiNUS is and how he isnt even as "bright" and "creative" as the current drunk!!!!

in fact, the only things he seems good at is LYING and GETTING THE FACTS WRONG, even when he is corrected and knows better!! he just keeps rattling and babbling on, LYING and MISTATING!!!

add to that, lets consider the QUARTER OF A BILLION DOLLARS obama has raised...hee-hee!!!!

from TPM:

"ABC News Sunlen Miller reports: Sen. Barack Obama went one step further today in his pushback against presumptive GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain and President Bush on appeasement, suggesting that both Republicans have a problem with presidents past who have engaged in direct diplomacy.

"If George Bush and John McCain have a problem with direct diplomacy, led by the president of the United States, then they can explain why they have a problem with John F. Kennedy because that's what he did with [Soviet leader Nikita] Khrushchev, or Ronald Reagan, 'cause that's what he did with [Soviet leader Mikhail] Gorbachev, or Richard Nixon 'cause that's what they did with [Chinese leader Mao Tse-tung]," Obama said in Roseburg, Ore. "That’s exactly the kind of diplomacy we need to keep us safe.""

mcAiNUS is aiming at the stupid and historically ignorant vote!!

Now, now Girly Man don't get so excited about Obama so early on Sunday morning. We have several months for him to implode FURTHER than he has. By the way, are you one of those paid Obama blog trolls we are hearing much about or are you just funny for the guy?

Zenator is, as usual, right. You don't hear much talk about it from the national pundits, who are probably too fearful of "racism" charges to face it.
But you can tell they're dancing around the way so many conservatives simply will not vote for Obama because of his skin color.
They won't admit it to a pollster or the media, but the election results are right there for anyone to see.
So many Dems think they can't lose this one, but I wouldn't plan on any big celebrations from them the day after the election.

2:39- that is quite a commentary about America and the right. God hope that isn't true.

Whatever happened to equal under God?

VOTE FOR JOHN MCCAIN IN 2008!!

As long as Obama loses, Hillary can re-run in 2012.

(Remember Hillary cannot come out & say this after June 6th, BUT WE KNOW WHO TO VOTE FOR IN NOVEMBER.)

Lots of pure disdain for Obama is NOT because he is black, it is because he is a democratic elitist that looks down on parts of America.

We don't need a person like Obama to divide the nation.

We don't need him & his racist clan like Jeremiah Wright & the Black Panthers roaming the White House.

We are not bitter Americans clinging to guns & religion.
WE JUST DON'T LIKE YOU BARACK OBAMA.

Why vote for a divider like Barack Obama, when there is a great patriotic war hero that has always loved his country on the ballot.

I will never vote for Obama if he is the last democrat on this planet.

My whole family will be voting for John McCain this November. I know a lot of democrats doing the same.

AMEN TO THAT!!!!

Maybe local Democratic politicians can ignore the fact that the man says their neighbors votes shouldn't count because HE decided not to campaign for them. Maybe local Democratic leaders can bask in HIS reflected glory even as HE continues to say that Florida's votes can only count if HE gets to say how they were cast--HE calls it "an acceptable formula."

Maybe some voters will be mollified when the Democratic Party "allows" Florida's votes after the candidate is selected and the votes won't matter.

If all of these people who thinks counting votes is an optional aspect of our democracy are right, the Obama will win here----and shame on us!

Obama the Messiah will TELL Florida voters what they can or can't do. Too bad many are willing to just go along with whatever he TELLS them. What eve happened to independent minds? I guess promises of socialism have taken over the brains of too many voters.

Obama getting killed in Kentucky just like West Virginia.

He has low support from white blue collar workers. Why is the question?

Could it be his relationship with a bigot pastor for 20 years?

Could it be because of his elitism and his looking down on middle Americans?

Could it be his lack of experience or his coddling of terrorist nations?

opinions needed before democrats settle on a nominee
