Crist: Fewer vetoes this year

Crist again hinted that he planned to veto a lot less than he did last year, acknowledging that state spending can help fuel a faltering economy.

"That might be one reason why you see less vetoes this week than you saw last year," Crist said. "The Legislature did tremendous work. To reduce the state budget by almost $6 billion dollars, they've already worked extremely hard....Out of respect for their good work and out of a need of to have some of these local projects to continue to come along, particularly as it relates to water issues and roads, things that really touch the people."

Good Lord, this freak is a walking cliché. God help us all.

Let's be honest with ourselves. The budget crisis is the result of irresponsible tax cuts. Tax Watch and other ideologues tricked us into cutting our own throats. Now we're going to have to find other ways to obtain the necessities of civilization that we've needed all along.

Vote "NO" on all irresponsible, GOP-backed tax cuts. Especially the deceptive Amendment 5, which gives developers, flippers, and big business a huge tax cap, while shifting the burden to sales taxes which will never materialize.

How about the turkeys the legislators took home? Fasano took five million and we dont really know what it is for? Theres much more. Veto those and put the money back in the places that are a much higher priority.

"acknowledging that state spending can help fuel a faltering economy."

well if people didn't pay so much in taxes there would not be a faltering eceonomy - the people would have more of their own money to spend on vacations and what not with their families during the summer - the state cannot spend us out of a slow economy, that's ridiculous - the state taxed us into this slow economy

I'm so sick of hearing about this. Hey bozos - at both the state and local level. What did you go with all the money you collected when things were riding high and property values were skyrocketing??? Hello????? Maybe if any of you had a little bit of foresight and weren't there for your lobbyists and special interests, we wouldn't be hearing so much crying now. Get over it. Times are tough for all of us right now. And I WILL vote yes for Amendment 5. Chicken Little screaming about the sky falling is crap.

When do I get my Amendment One tax cut? Drop like a rock? Urgh. I can't even buy a tank of gas with what they promised.

Governor Crist should veto the $5.25 tax increase Lee County residents will have to pay when the DMV closes the profitable office in North Ft. Myers.
