Crist's Florida speech gets a national tweak
“We live in a place called America, and America is a special dream, the most successful experiment on the face of the earth,” Gov. Charlie Crist said during his keynote speech at a Republican Party of Florida fundraiser Thursday night. "Some people, years ago, got together and decided that they were going to make this special place called America. And have this democracy that gives us the opportunity to choose our leaders. It is precious and it is to be cherished."
Sound familiar? Gov. Crist often talks about Florida in the same way. RPOF raised $1.5 million and touted that more than 700 people attended their Republican Victory Dinner. (AP photo)
Buzz had heard that Crist might talk about the new Republican coalition in Florida and about the way he governs and how that Florida formula could help Republicans win elections nationally. But that didn't happen.
His 10-minute speech was signature Crist, packed with thank yous, shout-outs, enthusiasm and platitudes.
He did talk about the importance of working hard and raising money to get Republicans elected in November.
"The world is on an axis, and things can go either way, and if we don't understand that nobody will," Crist said. He used himself as an example of how hard Republicans need to work, pointing out that he planned to spend his birthday, July 24th, at a fundraiser to re-elect Sen. Jeff Atwater.

Oh Governor Crist - Republican chickens coming home to roost calling!
Have you noticed that you and your Republican cohorts have cut education? Have you noticed that ordinary people are being forced out of their homes because their property taxes and property insurance are too high?
Has occurred to you that while you and your buddies eat cake the ordinary people are suffering?
Oh dear - reality has been knocking on the door for a while and now will be biting you on the behind this November.

Has Gov.Crist even made mention of the five thousand employees of Albertsons in Florida that are going to be out of a job within the next 60 days.
Publix bought Albertsons.
However, A huge number of those former Albertsons employees will not be rehired.

In about 3 years we can all look back and note that this speech and the national tour that followed marked the beginning of the Crist for President campaign.

7:54 God Forbid!!! If John McCain is elected president, we will look back on 2008 as the year we abandoned all reason and became a third world totalitarian state instead of a leader of world democracy.

Crist won't be in the VP house or the President's house. He'll be lucky if he makes it the rest of his four years in his governor's mansion.

Charlie broke off his engagement he ran off with the best man.

People who are around Charlie a lot get tired of hearing the same thing over and over. But the vast majority of voters don't get that repetition, and they love what he says.

Crist, quit wasting oxygen and your frequent flyer miles. Pawlenty, Jindal or Palin are going to get the VEEP nod.

Global Warming (the temperature has not risen since 1998) and "Cap and Trade" is NOT a part of "Republicanism" no matter how many times he says it or the St Pete Times prints this nonsense.
Why don't liberals cap and trade this hot air agenda and advance common sense conservatism like DRILLING for oil?
Global Warming Socialism

Pete DuPont has one of the best, though most disturbing, analysis of the recent global warming debate in the Wall Street Journal. Here's the ending:
The core of the Boxer-Lieberman-Warner legislation is that an expanded government, not the market economy, must control our society. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has produced a chart--click here to see it--showing that the bill "contains over 300 regulations and mandates," each of which must go through a federal regulatory process.
The bill does focus on some global warming objectives--although it is an America-only program estimated to lower global CO2 emissions only by about 1.4%--but it is less about that and more a step towards traditional socialism. The government would take control of our economy and regulate everything from electricity, oil and gas to imported shoes, our food, how high we may set our thermostats, and what kinds of light bulbs we may use. The EPA and the Energy Information Agency predict such controls would reduce GDP by "as much as seven percent (over $2.8 trillion) by 2050 and reduce U.S. manufacturing output by almost 10 percent by 2030."
Add to that the fact that Barack Obama and John McCain both support the bill, and that the next Congress is likely to have bigger Democratic majorities, and one can see in the next administration where a very collectivist America will be headed.
The only good news is that it seems that a growing number of people are questioning the science and the logic of such massive government action. Will it be in time? We can only hope.

In about three years the majority of Floridians will know nothing of the speech given yesterday, just like they know nothing of the speech today. However, people will still remember Charlie Crist as the closeted gay governor who ran our state into the ground.

The problems facing Florida are a microcosm of the problems facing our nation, and the cause is the same in both cases - too many years of control by the Republicans.

One day we're going to see an article describing Charlie actually occupying his chair at his desk in his corner office. We will collectively gasp. Then we read how his day was spend making travel plans. We will collectively roll our eyes and sigh.

Hey Greer, how come you haven't put out Charlie's approval ratngs lately?
