Gov says he's blessed to have Carole

Buzz noticed that Gov. Charlie Crist gave a very public nod to his girlfriend Carole Rome, which might just be a first for the governor, at least in a public speech.

"Lt. Gov. (Jeff) Kottkamp and I are lucky guys. You're blessed with Cindy and I'm blessed with Carole, and that's a special thing," Crist said during his speech at a Republican Party of Florida fundraiser on Thursday night.

And we are all so blessed that property taxes have fallen like a rock and that property insurance premiums are so reasonably priced and that we are given the opportunity to to subsidize the property insurance of owners of beach-front vacation homes and that our Governor can spend $70,000 on a fuel cell so he can keep the Governor's mansion at 70 degrees and that his office is kept at 70 degrees and that he can fly all over the state and country for photo opportunties while he and the Republican Legislature cut funding for child abuse investigators, foster care workers, nursing home inspectors, restaurant inspectors, prosecutors, judges, agency attorneys, and education.

Yes, as long as the Governor is happy and never inconvenienced and the pork and turkey in the budget is secure all is right in the world!

McGreevey, Part II. Wait until the blessed Carole sues the hell out of Charlie for marrying her for political gain. Do you think she is going to be happy in his St. Pete condo? Do you think she would have gone anywhere near him when he was punching the clock at DPR? I think Charlie is the gold digger. I think she is the one with the money. This story is so predictible it isn't even interesting. They get married, have a 3 page spread in People (his interest in the Hollywood-type of press coverage) and in 3-4 years, major blow out with boyfriend selling out to the Inquirer and a nasty divorce. Books written by both parties.

Getting married at this point would absolutely no political gain; it would just raise more questions.

Will Carole be blessed to have him when someone other than Cristi is standing next to McCain on the dais in Minneapolis? If CC doesn't get the VEEP spot, Mrs. Rome will be dropping him like a rock.

Unless you are like Charlie and can afford to run your air conditioner, we are still rolling in our sweat soaked mattress at 4:21 a.m. It starts to cool off at about 3:30AM, and we can get a few hours sleep. With insurance, taxes, and $4 per gallon gasoline - unless you are rich, or a living off the dole like Crist, you are up at 4:00 AM as well.

No. 4:21 got up early, took the dogs for a walk, went to work out at the gym and then went to work. 4:21 is exhausted. But since the positions have been cut at 4:21's agency, if 4:21 and the others don't come in early, work through lunch, take work home, and work on the weekends the work won't be done and people, people who need our services, will be injured.

4:21 is tired, sad, and feeling hopeless. Child investigators are going to be laid off. Foster care workers are going to be laid off. Nursing home inspectors are going to be laid off. Restaurant inspectors are going to be laid off. Parole officers are going to be laid off. School teachers are going to be laid off. Prosecutors, public defenders, agency attorneys and suport staff are going to be laid off.

But all is fine - the Governor's office is 70 degrees; Fasano/Rubio/Pruitt all managed to get plenty of pork and turkeys for their districts; the Governor flies "home" almost every weekend; the Legislature isn't going to lay off any of their unnecessary district staff and Agency Senior Management staff will simply trade positions so "rate" from replacing experienced peons with inexperience peons (because you can't hire experienced peons at beginning peon rate) can be added to their new position. [Sorry for the run-ons, I'm tired and have to work this weekend too - again for no pay and no comp. time.]

All while the rest of us, you know, the peons who actually do the work, are forced to put in numerous hours without pay, in buildings where the ac is set at 80 degrees during the week and turned off in the evenings and weekends even though we are still required to work. Our salaries are the lowest in the nation, the buildings we work in are health hazards, and we too have to pay for gas, utlities, property taxes, property insurance and co-pays on health insurance. I'm tired and am I too poor to relocate.

Like many others, I will most certainly remember in November.
