Knocking down Crist for VP

Looks like the next National Review will have a cover piece urging John McCain not to pick as his running mate Charlie Crist, Joe Lieberman, Mike Huckabee or Tom Ridge. See here.

Comments

Yes...pick any of those and my vote goes to Bob Barr.

You are on thin ice Senator McCain.

The only reason i may vote for you right now is that you are not Barack Obama.

1:24..a vote for Barr is a vote for Obama...do you really want to explain that to your children and grandchildren. They should just run the headline "If you don't want to win don't pick any of these four"...This looks like another desperate effort by the Romneyites...when will they learn that putting Romney on the ticket GUARANTEES defeat. Do the math! Without Florida McCain is done. If he can get Florida (the State Crist governs) and Pennsylvania (Crist's birth state) McCain is President.

I love Grover Norquist

1:33

Explain that to your childern? Do you not know that the Youth vote goes to Obama.Ohhh uninformed and uneducated voters at its best aka GOP voters

Bobby Jindal for VP.

national review matters.....why?

the only ting it is good for besides spreading lies is picking up after ones cat or dog!!

The Youth vote never shows yup.

Remember rock the vote in 2000 and 2004.

Nonexistant

yeah those yutes sure Rocked the Vote!

yutes don't matter 'cause yutes don't vote.

Ummm... pinhead!... the yutes didn't vote because the yutes had no one to vote for... This time, the yutes have a reason to vote...

It's called "Vote Obama or you'll be sent to Iraq to die for corporate profit and daddy's revenge!"

...dem yutes be gettin some learnin this cycle!

I love 1:33's Mormon conspiracy theory. What a scoop: Mormons secretly control the National Review. Guess they got bored just hanging out on the grassy knoll.

Hey Pinhead,

Puff Daddy tried that crap with his "Vote or Die" crap. Did it work?

Yes. They died.

We've all had ample time to read/hear about the "list". Luckily, most of those names are falling by the wayside.

Here's the real list as I see it:

Romney
Jindal
Barbour
Portman
Pawlenty

The Crist/Huckabee/Lieberman/Giuliani/Bloomberg type of list has been vetted unsuccessfully and discarded by now.

Interesting will be to watch when and who is chosen in both parties. It'll be July this time next week. The choices should be announced in the next few weeks; an indicator of how fast this year is flying by.

the state of your wallet is psychological

and to all that think the youth wont come out to vote this time? Dont worry the youth and the educated voters are coming out in record numbers and down with GOP they will say!

I've always been proud of my country....

A vote for Bob Barr is not a vote for Barry! It's a vote for Bob Barr. If the Repubs and Dems want to run tainted, damaged goods for Pres, that's their business. But everybody should vote for who would do best for them and not vote against somebody. Look at 2:01. He plans to vote for Barry because he doesn't want to go to Iraq(even though nobody is forcing him to go) instead of voting for somebody who will make his life better here by allowing him to hold on to his money. But idiots do what idiots do because they're idiots.

Donald Lance,

McCain said he may bring the draft back "if there is a WWIII" mmmm can we say Iraq & Iran....?

2:18. If, if, if.... If you crapped in one hand and if you wished in the other, which one would fill up first?
WWBD (what would Barry Do) if WWIII broke out? Have coffee with the enemy and roll over?

Donald Lance, vote however you choose, but a vote for Barr elects Obama. It's really that simple.

2:18 -

We don't need a draft.

The Marines are doing just fine with Iraq. They would also do just fine with Iran.

You probably don't know any Marines, though. I feel sorry for you.

"Some people live their entire lives wondering if they have made a difference...the Marines don't have that problem."----Ronald Reagan

Rock, I've never voted for a Dem or Repub in my life (going back to Reagan) and don't plan to this year either. My principles will not allow me to pull the switch for Barry and McCain hasn't done anything in his career as a politician for me to say, "He is a difference-maker. Campaign finance? Immigration? Lower taxes? I don't see it. I'll continue to vote for somebody instead of voting against somebody.

2:26

I served four years in the air force, i know plenty of marines. Im also from the great liberal state of maryland where the US Naval acadamy is. Typical republican that assumes. When you ASSume you make an AS out of yourself. And while applaude our man in woman for the job that they have done over there they are overstreched many of my air force friend hav seen more of Iraq then their own houses in the past 6years

Would the managers of this site tolerate the bashing of Muslims as they tolerate the bashing of Mormans? Or attacks against McCains's age, as they would bashing of Obama for being black? Political correctness is just another form of poisoning the wells to promote the left wing agenda.

2:34, I can tell you didn't go to the acadamy in Maryland.

That's fine, Lance. Vote as you choose, speak as you choose, act as you choose.

I'd rather see McCain POTUS for 4 years than Obama. Obama generates a lot of enthusiastic support, McCain doesn't. But I suspect in Nov McCain will eke out a majority of unenthusiastic voters.

Of course he will. There are some 70 million people in this country that are the silent majority come voting time. But to me, Dems and Repubs are all the same. If anybody wants real change, change we can believe in, then vote 3rd party. Nothing changes with both parties in power. That's fine if you want status quo. But what kind of a message would the people be sending if nobody voted for a Dem or Repub? You'd see change the day of the swear in.

Donald Lance, Im a veteran of the United States Air Force. I never claimed to be a former cadet of the Naval Acadamy. I currently am getting my degree at USF in management information systems. I dont know what you were trying to infer with a the comment "i can tell you were not a cadet at the naval acadamy" but is a poor attempt to undermine my intellegence. I am sure i have done more for this country in the 4 years i served in the AF than you have your whole life. In addition, my degree from USF is probably something you could only wish to achieve.

2:41. Build yourself up however you want but you should use a spell checker. Read your comment above and you will see my inference. I hope you do well at Jihad U. (USF). Again, you make the same accusations of me that somebody accused you of. Typical Democrat assumes...

If you want change you can believe in vote for the party of Jackson,FDR, JFK and Clinton

and not for the party of

Hoover, Nixon and Bush

2:41 I hope you finish that degree before McSame takes your ed benefits away!

Donald Lance,

I didnt know spelling on a blog marks ones intellegence? Obviously you have no credentials like ie college degree or military experience...so sit down and vote for Barr or McCain... since republicans have done such great things for this country. pssshh

If this is going to turn into a credentials battle, tell me what credentials Barry is bringing to the table?

2:50 the degree will be finished in May 09... thanks for the support. I cant believe a former military member McCain doesnt support the GI Bill shows how much he cares about our men and women in uniform

Obama is the first African American president of the harvard law review. With that credential he could gone to any multi-million dollar law firm in the country. However, he decided to go to the south side of chicago and help the poor out. He served on the Ill. State senate in working to rebuild poor communities. He would later be elected US State Senator of this great country and pass a ground breaking ethics bill to change the way washington does business. His youth is like JFK and JFK was one of our great presidents.

Umm... Let's see...

1) He is a lawyer who graduated number 1 in his class from the first or second best law school in the world.

2) He forewent a cush, Big Firm job to become a community organizer in some of the most down-trodden neighborhoods in Chicago.

3) He was a state senator in the Illinois Senate.

4) He is a United States senator.

5) He defeated the Clintons to become the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party.

And all this before reaching the age of 47.

Seems pretty accomplished to me.

I wasn't feeling that. Mother Theresa helped the poor too but she didn't run for Pres. You tell me he passed ONE bill so that qualifies him to be Pres? Take a look at the global poverty act he co-sponsored if you'd like to know what else he did as a disservice to this country. JFK? You're not even close. I WANT CREDENTIALS - not a bibliography.

Why don't you all put MCain's accomplishments/credentials on one side of the paper and Barry's on the other side and tell me who has the best credentials.

Those things mean nothing.

I want to know why he supports using the police power of the government to steal money from those who earned it and give it those who didn't.

BTW Flag, Barry was NOT first in his class! Just keeping it accurate.

McCain has great accomplishments. But accomplishments are only half what is important. It is also the integibles. His judgment is better than McCain. If it was up to Obama we would not be spending millions of dollars in Iraq fighting a fight that has no end in sight... and for what? why are we in iraq? no republican can give you that answer. All those trillians of dollars lost and men and women lost in Iraq are valuable to this country and we will never see those people nore that money again.

Okay Donald answer me this the majority of the military is composed of people that make less than the median income than the avg american. So the poor are now support our government through higher taxes than the rich and be the majority of the military? What do rich people do for this country? Drive V-12 Ferrari's around? Also, why is that Warren Buffet and Bill Gate #1 and #2 in the world interms of being rich backing obama add in Steve Jobs CEO of Apple and the richest woman in the world Oprah all voting Obama? its because they understand that a 10% increase in taxes wont effect them... and that they can help this country out by doing so.

...[T]he government of the United States is a definite government, confined to specified objects. It is not like the state governments, whose powers are more general. Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the government."
--James Madison

"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents."
-- James Madison

James Madison elaborated upon this limitation in a letter to James Robertson:
With respect to the two words "general welfare," I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators. If the words obtained so readily a place in the "Articles of Confederation," and received so little notice in their admission into the present Constitution, and retained for so long a time a silent place in both, the fairest explanation is, that the words, in the alternative of meaning nothing or meaning everything, had the former meaning taken for granted.

I'd rather have a pres that can hang his hat on accomplishments instead of integibles. Integibles are debatable, but accomplishments are etched in stone. I'd debate you on his judgement (I think you know where I'm heading with this) but that's tiring. I just want to hold on to my money and reduce the size and scope of govt and that will never happen with Barry in office.

"What do rich people do for this country?"

1. Provide jobs
2. Give to charity
3. Take on the risks of business to bring you products that you want
4. Invest their capital (which in turn helps #1 above)

There's a few that didn't take too long.

What do the poor do for this country?

3:19. Rewrite your sentence. I have no idea what you are asking! But the rich in this country pay more taxes than the poor - by far! You mentioned the super-rich, and those people are an entirely different walk of life. People join the military to start their life. There is never the guise of becoming rich while in the military. They offer you something other than wealth.

All the current economic and political problems we have this country were caused by conservative Republicans. John McCain, instead of offering us change, has chosen to jump on the same old bandwagon. No conservative deserves to lead our country after the last seven years. All other arguments are superficial. End of story.

Typical lib. Open-minded and tolerant as long as you agree 100 percent with him. Otherwise your arguments are invalid and you are some sort of subspecies and have no right to speak.

4:10 you are incorrect. Either you don't understand the facts, or you choose to ignore them.

4:10. You are probably old enough to be voting for the second time in your life, so get boned up on politics past.

4:10 -

Right, because it was conservative Republicans who brought us the boondoggles of Social Security and Medicare. It was the conservative Republicans who expanded the size and scope of the Federal government far beyond any rational explanation, such as creating a Federal Dept of Education. It was the conservative Republicans who decided to take more of your hard-earned money and give it to someone who did not earn it.

My god you liberals are idiots.

But I HATE rethugs and CONservatives and McAinus and Chimpy and all the FACTS prove I'm ABSOLUTELY INCONTROVERTIBBLY CORRECT in what I feel!!!

Donny! Get back in the damn basement and finish your 12-pac of PBR!

Love,

Donny's "Vary Sad" mother

He was editor of the law review.

Typically, that post is reserved for the brightest law student.

That aside, your question is silly because it is completely contingent upon what you mean by "credentials."

For instance, I think that he is far smarter than McCain, Barr and any other candidate running. I also believe that he has better judgment.

To me, those are "credentials." Whether you agree with them or not is a different story.

Really Flag?

You have evidence of his IQ vs McCain's or Barr's IQ?

Did he exercise "good judgement" when he sought help and advice from an admitted terrorist?

Did he exercise "good judgement" when he sat and listened for 20 years to his mentor spout outright racism from his pulpit?

Smoking is a tax on stupidity...Obama paid that tax on a regular basis. Is this good judgement?

He admits that raising the capital gains tax will be a killer to our economy, but wants to raise it out of "fairness", to hell with the economic consequences?

Good judgement?...no, no i don't think so.

Donald I love your posts. I don't always agree with all of your viewpoints, but you sure know how to frame a debate. Thanks for some of the links you've posted on other "comments" sections-- one of your previous posts included a link that described the Global Poverty Tax that Barry O sponsored and it made me shudder; I sent it to everyone in my family. In all seriousness, thank you for the enlightenment. And I'm being sincere!

Thank you 7:16.

My wallet can't stand Obama's $1.50 gas tax. I'm voting for McCain.

Did you hear Charlie has changed his position on drilling? He's marrying a woman.

When Romney is selected as the VP he will knock the Obama camp for a drive equal to Tiger Woods recent winning performance.

McCain-Romney = White House,
no question.

If Romney is selected as VP, the GOP will lose half their base. The evangelicals will not vote for a cultist who believes that Mormon elders are prophets and who wears the magic underpants every Sunday.

9:02 you are delussional...please seek professional help.
