Sam Gibbons backs Bilirakis
Former U.S. Rep. Sam Gibbons, D-Tampa, is throwing his support behind Gus Bilirakis' re-election campaign. ""His good work and his demonstrated abilities make him as one who should be reelected," said Gibbons in an open letter to voters in District 9. "I feel that my 34 years in Congress representing a good part of Congressman Bilirakis' current district, qualifies me to make this endorsement. I am pleased to support the reelection of Congressman Bilirakis."

A great day for Congressman Bilirakis!
Those of us who live in the 9th Congressional District are proud to have him representing us in Washington :)

And now tha twe have heard from Aunt Elise Bilirakis.....I don't know if this matters all that much. John Dicks has a drawl and a gun rack. He is trouble for Gus Bilirakis. It is bad enough to have a insignificant rep but that is doubly bad when it is of the minority party.

You better hope Evelyn doesn't see that.

3:50,
I'm not an Aunt, or relative at all for that matter. Just a proud constituent :)

Don’t sweat it Gussy boy… Thurman cut the deal for you last time… and she’ll do it again. Just keep the monthly payments and free chardonnay a’comin.

Ha! This will tick off the kossacks and the moonbats, an old style Democrat, one with a long history in Congress, and one for whom the federal bldg in downtown Tampa is named in honor of, endorsing BILIRAKIS! Gene Smith must be pissing vinegar over this and Susan Smith must have her panties in a wad, or vice versa.

Cong. Bilirakis has been completely ineffective and will lose his seat.
Posted by: | June 05, 2008 at 06:46 PM
Because of "his good work and his demonstrated abilities," and Sam Gibbons' endorsement, Bilirakis will retain his seat in Congress.

I just love the Democrats!

Yeah, you never what clever and funny tricks they will do next!

What accomplishments can he point to? None. His constituents know he has done nothing for two years and that he "inherited" the seat from his Dad.
He will lose in November!

Bilirakis is the poster boy for a "do nothing" Congress!!!!!

Sam should take his medication and go back to sleep. As soon as Gus got to the house he voted for a tax break for the oil companies. He voted to continue contracting out of IRS collection efforts which has been demonstrated to be less effective than doing it in house and with the subsequent revenue loss is the same as a tax increase. Gus sits on the House Veterans Affairs Committee. What did Gus do to alleviate the plight of returning vets who are homeless. Nothing. What did Gus do to insure that unlicenced psychiatrists are not conducting compensation and pension exams? Nothing. What did Gus do when it was revealed that a VA psychiatrist suggested in violation of medical ethics that a diagnosis of adjustment disorder be given instead of PTSD on compensation exams to save VA money? Did Gus demand her resignation? No. Gus is an empty suit who is ranked number 438 or dead last even behind non voting representatives of DC and Puerto Rico by Congreswatch. Bill Mitchell will beat him in the fall so Gus can back to his law practice.
Go back to sleep Sam.

Interestingly enough, Bilirakis has been rated as the 429th representative and the 25th from Florida (out of 25) in terms of effectiveness. That's behind a couple non-voting delegates and slightly ahead of incapacitated and indicted representatives.

Gibbons can't afford to rock the boat with one of the three incumbents he's on a first name basis with as a paid lobbyist.

Sam Gibbons,
Shame on you. I've known you for decades. I am not pleased.
