Shift on immigration could cost McCain in FL
MIAMI - The issue of illegal immigration used to set Sen. John McCain apart.
While many in his party called for taller fences and harsher penalties, McCain wanted to give undocumented workers a path to citizenship. When his Republican rivals for the presidential nomination called him soft on border security, McCain flew to Miami last June to say they were "pandering for votes."
Now McCain is the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, and he's still running as a party maverick on fighting global warming and cutting federal spending. But not immigration.
The harder edge he now espouses may have satisfied the conservative base and saved McCain's campaign, but it has created a potential pitfall in the must-win Sunshine State. (story here)

McCain reminds me of Play-Do.

Too much tap-dancing at his age could give him an anuerysm. It's hard to smile in the midst of such a national catastrope, but I must admit, I'm enjoying the show. The GOP coalition of the diametrically opposite is coming apart at the seams. All that GOP campaign money being tossed at an obvious turkey. Since it's all corporate profits and almost no grassroots contributions from my fellow voters, I'm sincerely glad to see it going to waste. Hope coming in January (or sooner?)

McCain has a much better policy than Obama.
Obama wants to give illegals free reign. He is going to get hammered in debates.
Latest poll has McCain up 8 point in Florida

Sorry, my poll results have been flip- flopping faster than McCain's policy positions. It's now Big Brown in an easy win over McSame in Florida!

Polls said Hillary was inevitable. Are you just a follower of what the establishment tells you to think?
The propaganda is sickening.
Even the Republicans bosses want McCain to lose. When their crooked house of profiteering Iraq cards come tumbling down -- they want fools to blame it on the Democrat in office.
Who needs another arrogant hard drinking showoff jet jockey that nearly flunked his free college - trying to be pres?
He isn't the only POW or longest held POW. He had the best press, since daddy was bigshot Admiral in charge. He's made a career of feeding at public trough. Noun, verb, POW.
The REST of the guys ----- Johnnie boy doesn't think they need all those vet benefits, so he votes against them.

Immigrants are not the economic problem that is afflicting America.
It is the Corporatists, it is the financial institutions of this country that lent us past the real world debt ceiling that can be repaid.
This country is 53 trillion dollars in debt including intra-govermental debt, you could easily make the case that this is at least 10 trillion over the real word debt ceiling that can in reality actually be paid back by American income earners...
Also, my prediction is if Europe raises interest rates enough and China starts investing more in its own people, as opposed to throwing capital at us, the Republican induced meltdown will occur.
The FED will not be able to maneuver when no one buys their paper. Indeed, Bush is just praying his tax refunds gets him through November.

McCain tried his brand of immigration reform -- and got hammered on all sides, but especially for the path to citizenship. He learned his lesson, and said so. So now its border security first.
So you think Obama will win votes on immigration with his driver licenses for illegals? Hah!

Where does Obama stand on immigration?

5:28 Why waste words? I could have summarized McCain's position on immigration in two words:
Flip Flop.

The immigration debate is not going away but Senator McAmnesty has already lost it with conservatives like myself who will not be supporting him this fall. There is no way I can trust Senator Kennedy's top legislative aid anymore.
Let the Republican Party develop some backbone and fillibuster away or else it is their big money backers and corporate handlers who will be paying the real price tag for the illegal subsidized labor they have enjoyed. Once these illegal aliens obtain a path to citizenship they will be suing left and right for back wages and benefits not to mention that they will no longer be willing to work on the cheap. What short sighted non-sense.
Unfortunately, without education and advanced skill sets these people cannot pay for or contribute enough to earn their keep in a society that demands cradle to the grave education, health care and social welfare.
How many more MS-13 episodes and the like does McAmnesty have to become aware of before he gets it; illegal aliens are not our friends and immigrants who are want to be greeted at the front door.
At least with Obama you know for sure he is a socialist and that he aims to remake The United States into some version of a United Nations puppet state so those Americans who stand behind the Constitution can fight him every inch of the way. This McAmnesty fellow on the other hand is nothing more than a modern day Bendict Arnold.

Dear No Spin Zone,
If you try one policy and it fails to get the votes, then you go to Plan B. That's not a flip-flop, its called a reality check. Otherwise you are an ideologue who won't compromise for a bipartisan solution. Sorta like a cetain liberal Senator from the South Side of Chicago. Now what has he done that's been bipartisan? Actually, what has he done at all?
