Wexler's on the impeachment train
WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, a leading Florida supporter of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, has signed on to a measure that would require impeachment hearings against President Bush, citing “unprecedented abuse of executive power.”
Wexler, a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee from Boca Raton, said he signed onto the measure because the Bush administration used a “massive propaganda campaign to sell the war in Iraq to the American people,” and for the president’s support for spying on U.S. citizens without obtaining warrants, among other things.
The Articles of Impeachment are being sponsored by Rep. Dennnis Kucinich of Ohio, a former candidate for the Democratic nomination for president and one of Congress’ most colorful liberals.
“A decision by Congress to pursue impeachment is not an option, it is a sworn duty,” Wexler said in a statement. “It is time for Congress to stand up and defend the Constitution against the blatant violations and illegalities of this administration.”
The House Judiciary Committee will vote today, but House leaders don't have much interest in holding impeachment hearings.
--Wes Allison

Wexler you are a jerk!

Let us stroll down memory lane when at a Republican convention, our governor called Wexler, my friend.

“A decision by Congress to pursue impeachment is not an option, it is a sworn duty,” Wexler said in a statement. “It is time for Congress to stand up and defend the Constitution against the blatant violations and illegalities of this administration.”
Can’t say as I expect this thing to move anywhere, or whether I think it’s worth a crap to even try… but you simply can’t argue the principle behind the statements by Wexler.

Is the Do-Nothing Democratic Congress trying to do-something again?

You’ve just got to love the conflicts in the minds of these Republicons… You pinheads spent over 40-million tax dollars to prove Clinton got a hummer… and have no problem with your boy absolutely screwing our Constitution. You want to find the greatest threat to this Great Nation and our Democracy… try looking in the freaking mirror.

raymond - welcome to the BUZZ. The regulars here are all too familiar with the Obtuse Norquista and his feeble and circular arguments, such as the one about the Democratic Congress not having fixed Bush's screwups.
With a veto happy criminal in the WH itching to supress any meaningful change, and a GOP minority still acting as obstructionist as they can, it's not a bad strategy to wait for Obama to take office, rather than spin their wheels right now.
I do share your frustration that they have not yet impeached the traitor Bush for all the US soldiers he's killed for profit, and for his horrible failure to hunt down the real terrorist threat to America. Let's support Wexler and hope he and the other right-minded House members are successful. I think it would send the right message to the rest of the world, many of whom probably think all Americans are as evil as G. Bush.
Posted by: | June 11, 2008 at 01:11 PM
Democrat liberals are so wrong. They blame Bush for all problems. I blame liberal democrats and republicans for high gas prices. Since 1973 what have they done.Stopped nuke plants, no new refineries, no oil drilling in the US. These congressmen should be impeached, for destroying our country.
Posted by: Steve | June 11, 2008 at 01:12 PM
Boy, I am glad to know that there are no other pressing problems in our country so these boys can spend time/$ on impeachment!
Posted by: Bob | June 11, 2008 at 01:13 PM
Our most pressing problem - name is BUSH!
Posted by: | June 11, 2008 at 01:17 PM
The "No new refineries" argument just doesn't hold water. I grew up in the Philadelphia area where there were lots of refineries until the 1980's - almost all are now closed - too "inefficient" said the big oil companies. They just wanted to outsource the refinery jobs.
Congrats to Congressman Wexler for standing up to the tyrants - Bush and Cheney. Both should be impeached, removed, tried, and hung out like Saddam for war profiteering and war crimes against humanity.
Posted by: Ray | June 11, 2008 at 01:18 PM
1:11 WoW very well spoken, you should be proud of your ablilty to speak to the point. Steve I agree with you that both are to blame, but more one sided than the other . I want you to really think,if we build more nukes where are we going to put the deadliest substance known to man? they are trying to build nukes knowing they have no place to put the spent fuel. think about that for a minute. I think nuke would be ok, but like Obama let make sure we know were where going to put this stuff, and get our ducks in a row first.

12:39 PM, the dems have been the majority for 1 year, 4.5 months. It's going to take far longer than Obama's two terms, Hillary's two terms and Chelsea's two terms to clean up the mess following the 8 year-long frat party your boys have been throwing themselves.
Little georgie VETOS EVERY piece of legislation the dems put in front of him unless it creates gobs of wealth for him and his merry band of drunken frat boys. Add to that his thug minions in the house & senate who throw a monkeywrench into anything the dems try to do, and you've got the gridlock we've been seeing for the past 1 year, 4.5 months.

Impeachment proceedings, whether brought to fruition or not, seems to be in order. Considering "signing statements" and admittedly breaking "up to 35 Federal laws" to build the Mexico/US fence, this administration has snubbed its nose at the constitution and laws they are sworn to uphold.
Impeachment is too good for this crook.

YEA!! It's about damn time! The guy is TOTALLY and COMPLETELY responsible for the state of the union today! Give me a break all of you hide-your-heads-in-the-sand Republicans. Thousands of men and women are now taking dirt naps because of the BUSH ADMINISTRATION and you all know it too! Weapons of mass destruction MY FOOT! IMPEACH him!!

I whole heartily support these fine members of congress doing what they are sworn to do; uphold and protect the constitution of this once great nation. To restore the integrity and dignity of this nation is paramount to our continued existence in this world. Like the Roman Empire before us who failed to recognize that a corrupt republic cannot and will not last forever.

"House leaders don't have much interest in holding impeachment hearings..."
We did not elect them to think...we elecetd them to represent "the people". Methinks that most Americans (at least the ones that have been paying attention) would support not only the impeachment of George W. Bush, but also the impeachment of Dick Cheney and the prosecution of Donald Rumsfeld and Karl Rove...

In 2001, how many Democrats voted for the Patriot Act?
In 2003, how many voted to go to war?
You're quick to label it a R-D issue, but you forget many of your own are complicit.

Dear kitty,
Care to explain the Farm Bill?
Posted by: Omega83 | June 11, 2008 at 01:43 PM
republicans, answer me this since you know everything. I'm sure you seen the artical the other day that said that Mcsame said he did not pass the bill to help the everglades becouse it was full of pork? well three weeks ago I watched a dem. put a bill on the floor that basiclly tried to eliminate porks, but if they presented a pork bill in enough time to read over it they would allow it to be put in. The Rep. went nuts, there was no way they would allow it. So I ask If Mcsame ( who had already locked up his nomination ) felt so strongly about pork why wasnt he there to vote it in? let me answer before you Rep say it. Yes, he can call in a vote, and yes he gets an agenda of what will be on the floor.

Omega83 - please explain the Farm Bill!
Posted by: | June 11, 2008 at 01:47 PM
It's a bit late now, but Bush needs to be impeached, and his former supporters need to be tarred and feathered, and run out of decent society for being such suckers and complete fools.
Every single American who supported G.W. Bush owes the rest of humanity a serious apology. You're lucky we smart people haven't put you up against the wall for supporting that lying traitor.
And you jerks even had the nerve to call us REAL Americans unpatriotic, while you believed ever idiotic lie coming from his mouth.
Your grandchildren will be ashamed of you. The rest of America already is.
Posted by: Dave | June 11, 2008 at 01:47 PM
Legally speaking, 0 grounds for impeachment exist.
Posted by: | June 11, 2008 at 01:50 PM
He IS a war criminal. He lied about why we were going into Iraq, it's been proven. So doesn't that constitute some sort of falsity? I'm not sure I understand why things have been so different for him and his administration other than an invisible line of protection for some unknown reason. I'm sure it all boils down to politics and money. But I'd like for someone to point out to me what is the difference between someone who lies about something in order to gain some type of wealth and in doing so hundreds of thousands of people are killed (referring to not only our servicemen and women but also the Iraqui civilians who were killed) and someone like Sadam Hussein who orders the killings of thousands of people for his advancement purposes. Each of them profit in some way or another.
Am I right or wrong? If I'm wrong please explain how. And please no double talk or euphanisms, they are stupid and worthless when talking about serious subjects such as these.

omega83 well you act like your so smart, ever heard of alfa and omega. its from the bible you idiot. go back to high school and try again, maybe you'll be able to pass the fcat in a couple of years

raymond,
I am fully aware of Alpha and Omega's biblical refernce. I am also fully aware of why I chose it as my handle and why it has nothing to do with the biblical reference.
If you were in any way college educated yourself, you might also deduce where it came from.
But I see your stupidity is clearly evident in your grammactical as well as cognitive reasoning skills, so I will no longer waste oxygen on retards like yourself.
Posted by: Omega83 | June 11, 2008 at 01:57 PM
The Repub.'s can start packing their bags because there is NO WAY that the American people, with all that is known now and all that has been revealed, will vote for another Republican, ESPECIALLY one like John McCain. Did you all see his face during that speech he made right after Obama made his speech when he nailed the nomination? He looked like he had just been EMBALMED! Fake and phony as can be. There aren't enough spin doctors on this planet who can fix the Republican ticket! Karl Rove, and that disgusting, horrid excuse of a human being, Rush Limbaugh, don't have anough words in their vocabularies!
There is absolutely no way I'd ever vote for him or any other Republican ever again!
I do beleive that we gonna see our first black american president ya'll! Better get ready.
Posted by: Get Ready America! | June 11, 2008 at 02:02 PM
Dear Omega83, being obtuse really doesn't become you. The bill received far more than the two-thirds vote needed to override President Bush’s expected veto.
Posted by: kitty | June 11, 2008 at 02:03 PM
WOW WHAT BIG WORDS IM PROUD OF YOU . IM AM SO SORRY THAT I OFFENDED YOU I DID NOT REALIZE YOU WERE IN A BUBBLE WASTING OXYGEN. I THOUGHT YOU REALIZED YOU WHERE TYPING, NOT FLAPPING YOU FISHLIPS. YOU ARE RIGHT YOU ARE SO MUCH SMARTER THAT ME. NOW I KNOW I CAN NEVER BE REPUPBLICAN.
Posted by: raymond | June 11, 2008 at 02:03 PM
J. Epkath: You rant sounds like move.org soundbites. It has NEVER been proven that the President lied about the intelligence before invading Iraq. If you have the facts to differ, please produce them. By repeating the phrase, "Bush lied, people died" does not magically make it the truth.
kitty: please do the world a favor and do NOT reproduce. The President has only vetoed 9 bills, the fewest of any President. Your childish rants are nothing more than babble.
Posted by: Disgusted Republican | June 11, 2008 at 02:04 PM
The Farm Bill creates gobs of wealth for many AMericans already quite well off.
Bush vetoed it.
The D controlled Congress overrode that veto.
Unfortunately, the Farm Bill is historically pork laden, and both parties have pig blood on their hands. The point is, the Democrats had an opportunity to show real CHANGE - and balked.
Posted by: Omega83 | June 11, 2008 at 02:08 PM
OMEGA REAL CHANGE? THEN WHY THE ENTIRE REP PARTY VOTE DOWN A BILL MY THE DEM. THREE WEEKS AGO TO GET RID OF PORKING? SEEMS TO ME THAT YOUR PARTY HAD THE CHANCE AND BALKED.
