A slow, nasty day in the presidential race

Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama have talked about waging a more respectful, positive campaign for the presidency. We’re still waiting.  Even on a slow day in the typically slow Fourth of July week, the first real quiet period in this marathon campaign, on a day when the presumptive Republican nominee wasn’t even on the campaign trail, the campaign war rooms work overtime.

Dozens of dirt diggers and professional “message” shapers from both campaigns, plus countless other political groups, wage an endless battle to score points in the 24/7 news cycle, while also trying to rev up supporters and shake money loose from donors. Consider a sampling of messages from a single, slow day, Wednesday, July 2.

See HERE.

Comments

The McSame HQ has to work 24/7 just to keep track of where their boy stands on any given issue on any given day.

"I’m very strong on the economy. I understand it."

Too late, McFlop.

Abandon Obama, he has embraced religion and government. He wants to keep troops in Iraq indefinitely. He keeps CHANGING his core philosophy.

VOTE GREEN in '08! GREEN doesn't CHANGE!

While NOBAMA will tell you what you want to hear:http://hennessysview.com/2008/03/01/so-obama-lies/

Of course, Nobama is going to win - he's got the Chicago political machine behind him! You know Chicago - where the Democrats vote early and ofen - even when dead!

It is forgone conclusion that non-registered, dead, and illegal votes will be counted in this election and, if they don't win that way, the race riot that occurs afterwards will make sure there is nothing left of value to govern.

Not that it would matter to an Nobama supporter, but I wonder who this guy would have voted for in November?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,376243,00.html

Im not voting for either one of them. We need resl change. That starts with getting rid of the Democrats and the Republicans.

Obama is hunkering down for 100 years of troops in Iraq:

He said that when he (Obama) talked earlier about refining his policy after talking with commanders in Iraq, he was referring not to his 16-month timeline, but to how many troops may need to remain in Iraq to train the local army and police and what troop presence might be needed "`to be sure al-Qaida doesn't re-establish a foothold there."

He's getting troops out but REPLACING them with more troops and maintaining a presence indefinitely!

Obama is CHANGING his core plans each day moving closer to November.

Skipped the last 5 comments when I saw they were more lies and spin from the McCain Toad.

Hey 11:05. If you're looking for something to contemplate, why don't you take a look at this! Just another reason why Barry is no good for the US citizens. He's an elitist and could care less about the common man. Try to walk into a bank and do this:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/01/AR2008070103008.html?hpid=topnews

Theres a credit crisis for everybody but the elite!

That one is a quote directly from the St Pete Times today! Obama is going to keep troops in Iraq indefinitely.

Change Change Change...

Just like the song!

Donald please explain. I know plenty of folks with a 2005 mortgage interest rate less than that. No evidence of anything wrong there. Does having good credit make him an elitist? If I invest heavily with a bank, they will give me better terms as well. Now, on the other hand, in 2008 it would be very difficult to get a rate like that, thanks to unregulated banks giving out subprime loans. Hopefully Presidnet Obama will take action to see that they are regulated heavily in the future, while my kids are paying for their government bailout. As for being an elitist, get off the crack - Presidential candidates go, he's strictly upper middle class. On second thought, don't explain - I'm sick of conservatives and their desperate attempts to make somethng out of nothing.

Obama should change his campaign slogan to "Yes We CON!"

11:25 Do you suppose that anyone but wingnuts will ever accept your lies at face value, especially given your past reputation, McToady?

CHANGE, CHANGE, CHANGE...

"This isn't the Iraq I know."

Barack HUSSEIN Obama: UNTRIED, UNAMERICAN, UNFIT.

Almost anybody is better than John McCain, better known as George W Bush's Mini-Me.

John McCain = 894 out of 899 in his naval academy class... lucky for him daddy and grandpa were admirals hence he was able to crash 4 US Air planes.... and you want him to be president? 894 of 899 LOL!!! you idiots

GO JOHN MCCAIN!!

DEFEAT BIG BROWN!

I'm voting for Nader. Obama has let me down.

To show your support for Obama and encourage him on his run for
President of the United States in 2008, please add your name to the rapidly growing
list below:

1. Michelle Obama
2. Oprah
3. Jane Fonda
4. MSM
5. HAMAS (Islamic Resistance Movement)
8.Chinese Military
9. Mahmud AHMADI-NEJAD
10. George Soros
11. Rev Wright, Sharpton, Faracan…
12. DNC
13. Hill and Bill Clinton
14. Bill Ayers

15. ADOLPH HILTER (I’m not dead)

Obama is John Kerry on flip-flop steroids!!!

Barack H. Obama the baby killer.

Part of the Black Theology Creed is to “kill all the white babies”.
The reasoning....another way of eliminating the white race.

Now you know why Obama supports abortion.

9:08 - Interesting that you try and focus on him leaving the abortion decision between the woman and her doctor (and minister or priest). No mention of which presidential candidate is still married to his first wife and the mother of his kids, versus which candidate left his sick wife to marry a trophy wife and heiress to a beer distribution fortune? Between the two of them, Obama has a *lot* more character than McCain does. Maybe McCain *used* to have character, but he sold most of if off a long time ago for campaign contributions and he's peddling the rest of it as fast as he can to get endorsements and votes.

Hmmmm ... I recall another candidate who came home from the war, divorced his wife and married a rich widow, heir to a catsup fortune. The libs didn't seem to have a problem with him.

Senator Vacuous Ambitious from the Great State of Illinois, where politicians often are read their Miranda simultaneous with the oath of office, has more character than McCain? Yeah, sure. And you are to Mencken as a toad is to Godzilla.

9:52 PM

The Dems have many killers and liars. Obama, Kennedy, Kerry, Dean, Clinton, Carter....and the list goes on and on and on........

I'll take the character of McCain any day of the week.

Obama: We will now be in Iraq for 100 years. I will say anything to get elected. I now agree with my friends George Bush and John McCain. This will help get me the votes I need and I could care less about satisfying the Democrats who supported me on the war issue. I am the Messiah and the Presidency is mine.

I'll next cave in to the anti-abortion folks and God knows what else I will have to do to get elected--possibly sell my wife Michelle. I'll do whatever it takes, I have no integrity when it comes to becoming the next Prez!!!

McCain: Yeah, I know I flirted with sanity after getting beat in 2000 by Bush's campaign spread rumors about me in South Carolina, but I want to be President bad enough to suck up to him *and* the right-wing Christian nut-jobs even though I don't respect them at all... I wonder if they know how little respect I have for them?

I don't know anything about the economy, so I thought I'd take advice from Phil Gramm. Oh, he was the architect of deregulation that let Enron and Global Crossing happen? Jeez, I hope nobody notices! Guess that means I need to give more free drinks to the press on my plane and keep encouraging their man-crushes on me so they don't report how clueless I really am.

Mencken Jr. Now that's some "Straight Talk." very refreshing after the previous 20 odd posts all from the lying McCain Toad.

11:30 PM: Now that's some "Straight Talk." very refreshing after the previous 20 odd posts all from the lying Obama Toad.

Poor lonely McCain Toad. Staffing the Republican echo chamber is a sad, desperate occupation these days.

Just keep sputtering, Mini-Mencken. You and the other cicadas are only fooling yourselves.

The last major remnant of Saddam Hussein's nuclear program - a huge stockpile of concentrated natural uranium - reached a Canadian port Saturday to complete a secret U.S. operation that included a two-week airlift from Baghdad and a ship voyage crossing two oceans.

The removal of 550 metric tons of "yellowcake" - the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment - was a significant step toward closing the books on Saddam's nuclear legacy. It also brought relief to U.S. and Iraqi authorities who had worried the cache would reach insurgents or smugglers crossing to Iran to aid its nuclear ambitions.

the repiggie slime machine is certainly active on this blog.
facts never get in their way. they just distort or lie to their convenience. mcbush is just as out of touch as that nasty bush clan.

the obamacan slime machine is certainly active on this blog.
facts never get in their way. they just distort or lie to their convenience. obama is just as out of touch as that nasty carter clan and the wright religious clan.

I work at a hospital where I started at 200K a year. But right after my husband secured a million dollar earmark for the hospital I got a 100K raise. Nothing to see here, move along. It was all just a cowinkadink.

I love America now.

This is how I really feel:

"It is this world, a world where cruise ships throw away more food in a day than most residents of Port-au-Prince see in a year, where white folks' greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere…That's the world! On which hope sits!"--B.Obama--Dreams of the guy who left me to be raised by someone else but I'll just toss them under the bus like, well, you know like all the rest of them.

The singular Obama and McCain Toads who post on here without any thought or creativity should have been attending church this morning. Don't the two of your know that there is an Obama/Bush Faith-Based effort to make the world better.

You should be ashamed of yourselves to be posting the same old, same old to this blog instead of attending AM church services. There is still time for you to go to an evening service. Please do. The Messiah and King George will be proud of you two fools!

Obama the Republican! I can't believe this guy changing his stripes to pander to the far right of the Republican Party. It won't work and it's down right a liar's mentality to take the position he has. Lost my vote. I'll go with Ralph Nader.

Barack Obama, September 2007

"There is no military solution in Iraq, and there never was. The best way to protect our security and to pressure Iraq's leaders to resolve their civil war is to immediately begin to remove our combat troops. Not in six months or one year, but now."

Oh really? So, which of your press conferences should we believe in the span of a couple of hours?

Obama = Surrender now, Cut and Run

Obama = Same 'ole same POLITICIAN

Obama>Carter for setting Back the Nation

Poor lonely McCain Toad. Staffing the Republican echo chamber is developing into a full time hobby for you. Do you do this because it makes you feel like a true partisan heavyweight? I wonder how you masters view your effort? You're probably too insignificant to rate a glance from them, but I'd be willing to bet they'd be of the opinion that your outrageous lies only make your party look more ridiculous.

Obama Toady: Would you please STOP cutting and pasting your comments. We have all seen the same old stuff on other threads. Your lies are starting to make you look as ignorant as your Party!

I agree with 7:54 - how about some originality? This is getting dull.

Good 235rter2rwer23r
