Fact-checking McCain's Spanish radio ad
From FactCheck.org: "McCain's new radio ad, in Spanish, aims to show Florida would benefit from the Colombia Free Trade Agreement, which he supports. But every number in the ad is wrong, except one, a prediction of job gains taken from a group favoring the trade deal. And even that number is rounded upward so generously as to flunk third-grade arithmetic." More here.

Wow. That's just fantastic. Can I tell you how much confidence I have in McCain now.
I guess that new staff shake up is really working.
Also, it is incredibly patronizing of the campaign to either a) assume that people won't fact check something obivously wrong, just because it's in Spanish or b) do such a lazy job on their Spanish language materials.

Why don't you guys at the St Pete Times check the Anenberg's groups statements, before blasting them on your website? The reason why the figures ARE correct and the Anenberg folks are showing their liberal bias has to do with the fact that the US Dept of Commerce and Labor have a old-fashioned way of keeping trade data that is better suited for manufacturing and industry-oriented trade, rather than to Florida's service and value added economy. Dr. Villamil's figures are correct because they account for this, even if it makes some DC bureaucrats unconfortable.

Well of course it is wrong, Arlene put it together, when McCain loses in Nov, shes done in politics, Crist won't have her back, Jeb is done with her, Maybe Greer will help her, but after all the backstabing and no return phone calls except when she needs you, Say bye to Arlene in Florida politics!!, how did Arlene ever get the McCain Job ?

someone must have checked this stuff out before they went on air with it. It is required by TV stations-- isnt it?

I remember hearing McCain say he didn't really understand economics very well; maybe he'll extend that to not understanding arithmetic either.

mccain doesn't understand economics nor the meaning of the word pyrrhic.

if this fta with colombia is so bad how come the mayors of miami, chicago, new york, doral, laredo, and albequerque have indicated strong support of and have asked congress to pass it?
colombia and uribe saved the lives of 3 american patriots and you silly libs still wanna stick it our best friend in latin america. juan zapata was right... a vote against the fta is a vote to support hugo chavez and the marxist terrorists.
right now american goods are taxed like crazy entering colombia...

if only people understood economics. then i suppose we wouldn't have the republican party or this type of blog

If people understood economics they would realize you can't tax your way out of a recession.

McCain is simply is too old to understand these details and become president. The reason they screw up and contradict themselves over the Columbia ranking is because McCain had nothing to do with the writing of the editorial which bears his name. Some eager aide wrote and McCain who says he can't even use a computer probably didnt have his reading glasses on to read the darn thing.

Does anybody have any knowledge of Barry being an expert at economics? I's wager to say that a Socialist stance is just about as bad a policy as one could conceive! I'd take somebody who has a willingness to learn vs. somebody that will not move off their socialist stance.
