Fox News punks Robert Wexler
Fox News' gotcha got Robert Wexler.
A week after a report showing the Florida Congressman was living in Maryland while claiming official residence as being his mother-in-law's house at a retirement community in Delray Beach, comes this statement:
"My wife, Laurie, and I have decided to lease a residence of our own in Palm Beach County. Although I am confident that I have represented my district as well anybody possibly could, I have heard the concerns of some of my constituents and do not want this issue to distract from my advocacy of the important issues facing our community and country."
The fact that Wexler has a home near D.C. is not illegal or unusual; most politicians do that for obvious convenience and family considerations. But Wexler got stung because the home in Florida was not his and his family could not even live there because it in a community for people 55 and older.

These pinheads skirt laws all the time! It’s a prefect example of the manipulation of “the letter” of the law versus “the spirit” of the law.
Bottom line; a Representative should own, pay taxes on, and reside in a home within the district he/she represents… period!
Screw my tax dollars going toward “subsidizing” homes for these ¼ of a million tax dollars a-year crooks. Build a freaking Congressional Dorm modeled after a standard college dorm, and let them live there during session.
They are supposed to be “public servants” … not “public serve-us”.

Crist doesn't live in Florida. He's a citizen of the world, like Obama.

Members of Congress are not required to live in their district, but they are required to list a permanent residence in their home state. From 1993 to about 1995 John Mica and Bill McCollum lived in each other's districts after the 1992 redistricting. Bill may never have moved into his new district, but I know Mica eventually moved into his. Wexler did not violate any rules. He had a permanent residence listed at his mother-in-laws home. Nothing says that he is required to own his permanent residence. If the was a Property ownership law Charlie would be SOL!!!!

...And the children came to play. Though Wexler should own his own home in W Palm, there are slightly more important things to ponder. For instance, who stood the Air Force down on 9-11? Who ran the demolition rigging? Who told Guiliani WTC 7 was going to "come down"?
Whoever they are, I hope they live in their home districts.

Who cares, politicans are rat bast#$d scum sucking hack-in-the-boxes...

Wexler is a Democrat.
The rules do NOT apply to Democrats.
Posted by: | July 29, 2008 at 06:39 PM
True, Congressmen do not have to live in their district, just in the state, but it still has to be their RESIDENCE! Having a part-time room at the in-laws is not a permanent residence.
Wexler should be bounced from office for abandoning his Florida residency. Unfortunately, the House is the sole judge of who is qualified to be a Congressman. And Speaker Pelosi will hold hearings for Wexler's disqualification right after she holds hearings on Bush's impeachment.

So whats new???? Politicians have been doing this all along. Even on the state level it happens all the time. Senator Diaz Di La Portilla has not lived in his distrct for years. All the media know it, many candidates that run don't live in the district. So why is this a sudden story?

Gee how big of him to rent a place in the district he supposedly represents. He didn't say he's actually going to live there and I'll bet he doesn't. He'll just pay rent though so that will pacify his rented "constituents." Does he spend any time in his district office at all?
Posted by: | July 30, 2008 at 10:05 AM
Wexler's a punk. He should be impeached!
the Palm Beach county district he represents must be the biggest bunch of liberal losers ever assembled in one place.
yeah, aren't they the same guys who screwed their buddy Al Gore in 2000?

You mean to tell me that Wexler lived at Century Village AND was a Congressman?! Wasn't that a story-line on Seinfeld?
Posted by: | July 30, 2008 at 02:18 PM
I thought you had to be a senior citizen to live at Century Village.
Posted by: | July 30, 2008 at 02:18 PM
Wexler is a L-O-S-E-R
Posted by: | July 30, 2008 at 08:13 PM
Palm Beach county, hear this.
If you vote back Robert Wexler in November you get what you deserve.
A fraud for a Representative who now has been forced to lease an apt so he can still sucker you into his shell residency scheme.
he hasnt lived in Fla for 11 years, how can he represent you and the needs of palm beach county.
VOTE WEXLER out in November.!!!!!
