Is Feeney in trouble?

From CQ: Though Republican strategists knew they would face problems holding their ground in the House this year after their big setbacks in 2006, Republican Rep. Tom Feeney ’s re-election bid in Florida’s 24th Congressional District wasn’t initially in their top tier of trouble races. But signs of increasing competition — which have prompted CQ Politics to change its rating on the race — have added the central Florida seat to the GOP’s list of worries.

CQ Politics now rates the race Leans Republican, a change from the less competitive Republican Favored category. The change reflects the strong and well-funded challenge that Feeney, bidding for a fourth House term, is receiving from Democrat Suzanne Kosmas, a former state representative, and a persistent cloud over the incumbent caused by a past link to since-convicted Washington influence peddler Jack Abramoff. the tide hasn't quite changed. if in a few quarters big biz is hedging its bets by investing in both candidates we'll actually have a shift.

news like this helps push it that way though

This is one republican that is happy to see Feeney and the Diaz-Balart's on their way to getting shellacked. It's a shame we need democrats to do for us what we can't do ourselves: throw out the garbage!

yawn...another "wish" put in print to hope people will think it's so. Feeney isn't going anywhere except back to D.C.

Charles

Who cares?

The Republican Party has abandoned the middle class, come November they will know how it feels to be abandoned.

This is the same story repeated from weeks ago trying to get traction where none exists. Kosmas is a lightweight. Feeny is fine , this is more garbage propaganda from the DNC. A bunch of bull hockey - typically what the D's dish up!

Republican = Conservative.... what is so conservative about aquiring a 4 trillion dollar deficit in 8 years when the Clinton administartation had this economy in a surplus?

To put this in perspective- the first 42 presidents put this country 6 trillion dollars in debt. The Republicans, George Bush and McCain are responsible for 40% of this country's debt

Say No to Republicans in Nov. For the sake of America!

People like Tom Feeney are why I left the Republican party. Throw them out, and I might actually come back.

Today, Phil Gramm, one of McCain's top economic advisors, said not only that Americans are a bunch of whiners but that the country's current economic situation is really just a "mental recession."

McCain, who is a self-proclaimed novice on economic issues is taking advice from Gramm? That's rich.

Anyways, to those who may be wondering, you are not really paying $4.20 for a gallon of gas, wages are not stagnant, job creation is not stagnant, job cuts are not rising, and the real estate market is not tanking.

Life is good and you have to be a moron to vote for McCain.

The way your ignorant mind works Flagophile
You would think we are standing in soup lines and starving.
If you think this is bad wait till the "messiah" takes over and raises taxes to pay for welfare and free health care

Umm... 5:58,

Do you know what the word "ignorant" means?

Don't google it, though.

BTW,

Stop with the "Messiah/Hussein" thing.

First, I don't believe Obama is a super-natural figure. I don't believe in messiahs, gods, fairies, or unicorns. I don't use those words or think in those terms.

Also, as I mentioned in another post, only stupid people (I mean literally stupid people as in people with low IQ's and little education) would allow their vote to be influenced by someone's middle-name.

You are one of them. You should not be allowed to vote or, in my estimation, even opine.

Vote for McCain, you voted for Bush and you will continue to make these uninformed decisions because, sadly, your mind is incapable of anything more.

It's not your fault and I don't blame you for it. Luck of the draw, I guess.

Obama is a momentary "blip" on the radar screed of history.....nothing more and nothing less.
charles

Ahhh the true liberal roars her head.
You are so left you are a True Communist. Banning people from voting, hmmmm do they do that in China?

Also, you would be better off to believe in a pixie then your new found lord and savior Barack "keep the muslim women out of the camera frame behind me" Hussein Obama.

If you think its bad now honey wait till he is elected.
You should of stuck with Hilary...

And I won't vote for a Muslim who went to a terrorist training school and has a father who is in the Kenyan Govt.

Flag-0-phile:

I don't think people who have not served in the military should be able to vote. If you are not willing to pay the price, you should not be able to enjoy the benefits, IMHO.

If you don't like or respect the symbol of our freedom and liberty (the flag; for those of you voting for Obama), then the answer is simple: Leave. We freedom loving Americans don't want you here, believe me!

I don't like McCain. I would have voted for Ron Paul, or maybe even Fred Thompson. Americans like you need to wake up and realize this is a Republic and a capitalist state. Not a totalitarian communist state or even a socialist state.

Go read and study some history and economics, and then show me a socialist state--such as Obama wants--that has been able to survive in the real world. Ain't too many left, and those are dropping like flies.

Twisting Churchill's words a bit, McCain is not the best candidate in the current election; except for every other candidate!

Luckily, I don't have to vote for Feeney; I have Jim King to vote for (District 5). Hopefully, there are still enough intelligent Americans left in Florida, and we can get rid of Ginny Brown-(dead)Waite. (For you ObamaHeads: this is a play on words: deadweight means: "a heavy or oppressive burden").

Flagpole, you do know that Phil Gramm holds a PhD. in economics don't you?

7:04 that is regardless of the facts.

You do know that Flagophile and her communist tree hugging friends are liberal arts majors who sat under a tree and smoked blunts while discussing the trendy theories of Marx, as they marched and burned flags and chanted "change, change, change, we need a mesiah who will make alliances with terrorist regimes and destroy Israel forever"

Neither Flagophile, nor Mencken Jr, nor surfdog, know crap. They are keyboards without brains.

Steve,
If you believe everything you just stated you should fall on your knees and BEG to vote for Feeney! He is the last bastion of true conservatism...and he articulates it beautifully. Why do you think the libs want to take him out?
Charles.

obama is my generation's kennedy, bush is my generation's nixon.

JFK is one of the worst presidents ever elected.
He was a drug user, a womanizer, botched Cuba.
I guess Obama will be just like JFK.

Or will he be like RFK, like Hilary suggested.

arles,

Feeney is an Enterpriser on the liberty index. (next best thing to being a libertarian-Republican) http://www.republicanliberty.org/libdex/libergraph.htm, so if I was in his district, I would probably vote for him.

I was not intending to disparage him in any way. My beef is with our closet, anti-american commie, Flag-ZERO-phile.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I take exception to internet-warriors who disparage a person's intellect simply because they express a different opinion.

Normally, they would not do so in a face to face confrontation.

So I gave a little back ;-).

By the way, if you feel that strongly about Feeney, you might want to check out the Republican Liberty Caucus of Florida, sounds like you would fit right in.

Constantine for Congress in 2010.

Constantine for Congress in 2010.

7:04 - Yes, Phil Gramm holds a Ph.D. in economics. That's why it's so surprising that he has such a poor grasp of the subject matter.

Constantine is a whimp!

%:32 Right on! the guy is a crook. "stand your ground, and don't back down" Kick the bum out.

Was trying to type in 5:32 for the last post. My BAD

Where are the blog posts or articles about the fact that Obama says we have to learn other languages?

So, now we HAVE to stop driving SUVs, we HAVE to get out let him change our soul, and we HAVE to do things in our community, we HAVE to learn other languages....

All because Mr. Obama goes to Paris and is embarassed that he doesn't know French.

Of course, what was I thinking?

This IS the vaunted (and liberal) St. Pete Times. They're ALWAYS Fair and Balanced.

That's the problem with you guys, you don't have any critical thinking skills.

Some moron above suggested that Gramm's Ph.D in economics somehow makes him infallible on economic issues. Simpleton. Gramm's Ph.D also led him to support a gas-tax holiday that every reputable economist thought was a bad idea.

Also, I've never suggested that your job or any other characteristic, besides knowledge of the issues, should qualify you to vote. What I suggested was that ignorance of the issues (i.e., if you get your information from comedians Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh) is a problem for democracy because democracy assumes knowledge of the issues.

Lastly, I assure you that I, along with most of the D's on this blog, are for more educated and well-informed than you all. It is not only evident from the posts but also consistent with Karl Rove's analysis ("As people do better, they start voting like Republicans - unless they have too much education and vote Democratic, which proves there can be too much of a good thing.").

If you want to debate the issues, let's dance. I can only glean from your empty, ignorant, and, frankly, childish posts, that you are unable.

Flag-

Thank goodness we are not a democracy.

republican/representative democracy, we can quibble over semantics.

Has Constantine had his third dui yet?

9:12 You are the unquestioned ruler of your own Toadocracy - in your case, your Mom's basement.

8:46, does anyone really like, let alone respect Constantine?

you liberal d-bags are still going to lose, you backed the wrong bus losers..
Next up WAR IN IRAN

Instead af allies with Iran and you terrorist messiah HUSSEIN we will take over the middle east
It is our "toady" destiny

Phil Gramm has a grasp on the subject matter...the fact is...the economy is primarily driven by consumer confidence...which is driven in large part by the media...if you recall..it was the media who kept saying the "bubble is going to bust" over and over until it finally happended...and it is the media (and that idiot Rubio) that have continued to say we are in a recession (even though our economy is still growing which defies the definition of "recession") until consumer confidence is shot. The point Gramm was making is the economy in many respect is what we make it...yes, gas prices are high...but here in Florida housing is more affordable that it has been in years...property taxes are down...businesses are moving to Florida every day....this in fact is a time of tremendous opportunity for those that have the foresight to act.
