McCain congratulates Crist

Sen. John McCain is among the well-wishers who've called Gov. Charlie Crist to congratulate him on his engagement to businesswoman and socialite Carole Rome. "He called to congratulate me on getting engaged," Crist told reporters in Fort Lauderdale. A reporter asked Crist how he knows Rome is the one? "Because I'm in love with her. I mean, how do you ever know? She's beautiful and brilliant and sweet, and I'm a blessed man."

In Tallahassee Monday, Crist was asked if it troubles him that there's so much public speculation about his sexuality. "Being governor of Florida, that's inevitable. I don't really focus on it. I'm just damn glad to have found such a wonderful lady," Crist said.

He said he's "sure" that Rome's two daughters will spend time in Tallahassee and the governor's mansion will be more crowded. "Certainly more than it is now," Crist said.

Being Governor of Florida inevitably invites speculation about your homosexuality? Does that apply to all the states, or just us and New Jersey?

Remember all those "Lawton Chiles is Gay" rumors?

Agree! What a dumb question! The press pushes this discrimination in our country!

It's as bad as all those "Jason Straight isn't" rumors.

I'm glad Bush asked McSame to congratulate Chuck. The Prez would have been smirking his azz off trying to keep a straight face. Best of luck assembling your new nucular family in time for the VP slot.

Is Jason---Straight????

9:07 I don't know - you guys are the ones with all the men's rooms staked out. Or ask Dr_Dug to research for you - he's got every GOP assclown on speed dial. They should know the answer and it won't even cost you $20.

How much is THIS going to cost the taxpayers??? What "special" state contracts will be awarded to her company OR has Jeb cornered the market on all the State contracts?

Remember in November.

It will be interesting to see how long this engagement goes on for. Certainly no marriage before the announcement for the Republican vice presidential candidate? If no such luck for Charlie being VP, will the engagement stick? Gossip to come, Floridians.

I hear Tom Lee cruises craigs list for "home calls". They actually had his name on there warning people about him. Where do we find these people.

Maybe McCain really called Charlie to find out if the engagement was for real - as in McCain couldn't believe it

On, and Jim, good job keeping Charlie Crist in the news. Is that ALL RPOF does these days?

"the mansion will be more crowded"?

yeah, I'm sure Ms. Rome and her brats will have a grand time but where will Charlie be?

He doesn't spend two days a week in Tallahassee as it is.

would love to be one of those kids in their new private school class in Tally.
Can you imagine the amount of crap those two will get!

I wonder if Cristi will get part-ownership in Mrs. Rome's business:
