Today the Bush Administration is addressing the state of the economy.
Under the Bush Administration:
We racked up 4 trillion dollars of debt...the first 43 presidents racked up 6 trillion dollars of debt
Inflation is at its highest in 20 plus years
The dollar is at its lowest in 27 years
We have a housing melt-down.
Food Oil is rising at a rediculous rate
and Unemployment is at its highest in 20 years.
It is time to unite this country and lift each other off the ground to work to better this great country of ours
Take back America

"restore" America's leadership in the world.
Contrary to the shrill opinions of liberals and Europeans - America never stopped being the world leader.
Though our economy is in a rough spot, it's still the largest in the world. As is our military. As is our job market.
When the Bashir's, and Kim's and other despots of the world carry on - who does the world consistently ask for assistance? Which nation remains the single largest contributor of foreign aid? In what city does the UN itself get free rent?
America has its problems in leadership, in economy, but do not for a second think we have slipped from lead dog on the world stage.

Obama loves to say that we have to withdraw from Iraq "responsibly." There's nothing responsible about his plan. According to U.S. commanders on the ground, it may not even be logistically possible. Does Obama even care? He says that when he's elected he'd give the military a new mission -- to end the war. Conditions in Iraq, let alone winning, are marginalia.
There are two possible interpretations -- either Obama is dangerously sincere, or he's a cynical operator playing duplicitous politics with matters of war and peace. Watch for the answer over the next several months when voters start telling him he's just another political crook and liar!

Children are smarter than Obama! Maybe he needs to get some of them to help him with his campaign; might be better than the advice he’s getting on ads, strategies, policies, etc.
Barack Obama is for banning guns in America. He is considered by those who have dealt with him as a bit more than just a little self-righteous.
At a recent rural elementary school assembly in East Texas, he asked the audience for total quiet. Then, in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands once every few seconds, holding the audience in total silence.
Then he said into the microphone, 'Children, every time I clap my hands together, a child in America dies from gun violence.'
Then, little Richard Earl, with a proud East Texas drawl, pierced the quiet and said: ''Well, dumb-a.., stop clapping!”

We have to get OUT of Iraq. We cannot continue to RECYCLE the troops forever under STOP-LOSS.
If we don't get out soon we need to RESTART the Draft. From ages 18 to 42 everybody goes, no excuses, no deferments.
Oh! and if we attack Iran you can be sure we will start the Draft, pronto...we will have to.

Reporter Mark Smith wants Bush to do an Obama and meddle in their consumption habits: “Why have you not called on Americans to drive less and turn down their thermostats?”
Bush: “People are smart enough to figure out whether they should drive less…it’s presumptuous to do so…they can decide. Of course they should conserve…let them decide.”
Wow, what a concept...let people make their OWN decisions over what is best for them...
Now compare that to this Obama quote:
"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said. "That's not leadership. That's not going to happen," he added."
Let me ask you folks...which do you want?
A. To make your own decisions on what is best for you and your family?
or
B. Some government bureaucrat telling you how much food you can buy, what you can drive, how much you can use your AC, etc?
I'll go with the LESS GOVERNMENT, MORE FREEDOM option A.

No Dick Cheney 5 deferment crap at all.
Posted by: | July 15, 2008 at 11:37 AM
First allow me to get a pet peeve of mine out of the way: The term "draft" is a euphemism for what is actually "confiscation of labor resources." The Defense Department can get all the military personnel it wants on an all-volunteer basis; it could simply raise wages.
Some argue that depending on an all-volunteer military is too expensive. That's wrong. The true cost of having a man in the military is what society has to forgo, what economists call opportunity costs. Say a man worked producing televisions for which he was paid $1,000 a month. If he's drafted, he's not producing $1,000 worth of televisions. The sacrificed $1,000 worth of televisions is part of the cost of his being in the military whether he's paid $68 a month or nothing a month.
One effect of the draft is to understate the full cost of military operations. Simple economics suggests that if the cost of a resource is understated, there will be bias toward greater and more wasteful use of that resource.
Therefore, a draft would tend to give rise to greater, not less, use of the military. Today's all-volunteer military consists of high-quality soldiers and fewer misfits than yesteryear.
The military draft is an offense to the values of liberty, causes misallocation of resources, and there's a higher risk of getting a bunch of misfits.

Does he mention his "pledge" to ignore Florida Democratic voters before the primary in an effort to pander to voters in other states?
Does he mention his line that our votes couldn't be counted because it wouldn't be "fair" because he decided not campaign for them?
Does he mention his line that our votes might count if he got to say how they were cast--an "acceptable formula" as he called it?
Does he mention that every Florida voter is only half a person for the purpose of the Convention that will nominate him?
Does he mention that he who couldn't care less if your vote counts or not except as it affects his own personal ambitions.
Did he draw an analogy between his tactics in this nominating process and George Bush's campaign following the 2000 vote?
Does he mention that he thinks Florida voters are gormless sheep who will vote for him no matter what he personally does to them and their votes?

Given the tenor of the country vs. Bush and Congress, it would seem that "change" would win without a problem.
He should be up 10% or more.
But, Obama keeps sticking his foot in his mouth, is thin-skinned, flip-flops daily, and only leading in polls within a dead-heat statistical range.
It's way early and folks are realizing the Would be Emperor has no clothes.
Shoulda chosen Hillary.

These guys are great.
Obama is leading by comfortable margins in every state that he needs.
He is up by 9 points in the latest national poll (not that it's really important at this point).
And now he is supposed to be up by 10 or more!
Next week, when he is up by 10 points or more, they will say he should be up by 20!
Posted by: Flagophile | July 15, 2008 at 01:51 PM
Flag-
None of it really matters at this point. Dukakis was ahead by about 10 points around this time in 1988, and Carter was ahead by about 15 points in 1980...and we know how well that worked out.
I wouldn't put ANY faith into ANY polls at this point. In many cases, we don't even know WHO was polled.
Pollsters can pretty much skew them as they see fit.

A good Commander In Chief would have sent in the adequate number of troops in the beginning and listened to his military leaders on the ground, not worry about his re-election. (Which is what 'W' did when he refused to send in the troops needed, after 'Mission Accomplished!') Obama has never changed his view's on this 'dumb' war. He has said in countless debates, interviews, etc., that we need to be as smart getting out as we were careless getting into this war. He has said he would listen to the generals on the ground. The surge is working, Obama has never denied that; but our President 'W' sacrificed many lives by not listening to his military leaders. If 'W' had listened, we would never have invaded Iraq! Now that we are there, we need a President who understands that decisions should be made after investigating all of the facts, and making the necessary changes/adjustments to reach the safest and best result of this mess, 'W's' legacy. A true Commander and Chief leads with courage and intelligence. We need that kind of leader for America. WE need Barack Obama.

Bank failures are just your imagination and I don't have a conflict of interest with the oil industry. McCain and I will polute Florida's beaches for no good reason.
"I readily concede it won't produce a barrel of oil tomorrow, but it will reverse the psychology," Bush told a White House news conference — his first since late April.
And on my way out of office, I am cheerfully kicking senior citizens and soldiers in the gut.

I love it how these Republicans trolling for McCain points just LOVE to prop up their "idol" while bashing Obama for perceived "flip-flops." The REAL flip-flopper is McCain, and this Web site: http://www.alternet.org/election08/90956/?page=entire lists 61 of them (and the list is not exhaustive), including links to MCCAIN'S OWN STATEMENTS in which he contradicts himself.
Some of the most notable ones:
1. McCain thought Bush's warrantless wiretap program circumvented the law; now he believes the opposite.
2. McCain insisted that everyone, even "terrible killers," "the worst kind of scum of humanity," and detainees at Guantanamo Bay, "deserve to have some adjudication of their cases," even if that means "releasing some of them." McCain now believes the opposite.
3. He opposed indefinite detention of terrorist suspects. When the Supreme Court reached the same conclusion, he called it "one of the worst decisions in the history of this country."
4. In February, McCain reversed course on prohibiting waterboarding.
5. McCain favored closing the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay before he was against it.
...
8. McCain supported moving "toward normalization of relations" with Cuba. Now he believes the opposite.
9. McCain believed the United States should engage in diplomacy with Hamas. Now he believes the opposite.
10. McCain believed the United States should engage in diplomacy with Syria. Now he believes the opposite.
11. McCain is both for and against a "rogue state rollback" as a focus of his foreign policy vision.
...
18. McCain was against expanding the GI Bill before he was for it.
19. McCain defended "privatizing" Social Security. Now he says he's against privatization (though he actually still supports it.)
20. McCain wanted to change the Republican Party platform to protect abortion rights in cases of r@pe and incest. Now he doesn't.
21. McCain supported storing spent nuclear fuel at Yucca Mountain in Nevada. Now he believes the opposite.
22. He argued that the NRA should not have a role in the Republican Party's policy making. Now he believes the opposite.
...
Need I go on??? You can't trust "Weathervane" McCain!

Video Script:
Obama: My assessment is that the surge has not worked.
Obama: I would end this war, and I would have our troops out within 16 months.
Obama: I will immediately begin to remove our troops.
Murtha: I think the surge is working.
Lieberman: The surge is working.
Clinton: We've begun to change tactics in Iraq, and in some areas, particularly in Al Anbar Province, it's working.
Gibbs: The security situation has improved, much as everybody admitted it would if we put more troops on the ground.
Axelrod: I mean, he never disputed the fact that if you throw a surge of American soldiers in an area that you can make a difference.
Obama: I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is gonna solve the sectarian violence there. In fact, I think it will do the reverse.
Reporter: You did not refer to the 16 month timetable. Does that mean you can tell us today that you will not change the 16 month timetable?
Obama: (smiles and breathes) Uh... I... (scratches head)

No change in that ad. Obama's shown he's one of the most liberal politicians in the country and changes his mind more than his underwear based on who he's talking to.
Besides, he changed South Chicago. To worse than it was before.
Many of those folks in south Chicago voted for Alan Keyes because they were so upset over Obama's change!
Proof is in the pudding. Obama's change is a liberal, socialist platform that has been proven time and again, not to work.
