Obama's strength worries Adam Putnam
No, U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Bartow, doesn't think John McCain is in any real danger of losing Florida, given McCain's natural appeal to veterans, independents, and pro-Israel voters. But the Chairman of the House Republican Conference thinks Barack Obama's ability to turn out African-Americans voters across the south could pose trouble for some Republican incumbents in states that McCain will still carry.
"I think you'll see House members who won their last race by 60%-65% percent lose because of the turnout model that Obama brings,'' said Putnam after taping a Political Connections interview on Bay News 9. He wasn't talking about any Florida seats, but his pick for the five races to watch in Florida: the seats held by Democrat Tim Mahoney, by the Diaz-Balart brothers, by Tom Feeney, and by Ric Keller.

Adam Putnam:
what a joke! net worth of 13 million dollars oh he is qualified to decide issues for everyday folks like you and me....typical RETHUG go back to daddys orange grove ya snob!

Surfdog would rather have someone in office who has a hard time balancing a checkbook! Class envy and economic bigotry wear the same clothes.

"McCain's natural appeal to veterans, independents, and pro-Israel voters"
Let's take those one at a time:
veterans - McCain's against benefits for Iraqi War vets.
independents - McCain lost the independents when he accepted the Bush endorsement and became McSame.
pro-Israel - really! Let's ask his mentor John Hagee about his views on Israel!
If McCain has any appeal at all in Florida, it is not among sane folks, but rather because Florida has become a last bastion for cranks, Kool-Aid drinkers, and wingnuts.

no 2:47 just want someone in Govt who BELIEVES in govt!
people who do not believe in govt should not govern.....
If you break the air traffic contol system and repalce them with hacks then years later problems arise (gee wonder why)
wonder why all of a sudden MINE deaths ?? wonder why we have tomato poisoning....when you hear of problems with 2010 census you will know why..
GWB WORST PREZ IN HISTORY

3:06: You're a Kool-Aid drinker. The worst president in history was James Buchanan, who allowed the Civil War to occur. The second worst was Carter, who allowed the crazies to take over Iran. Obama would be the worst in history, after allowing the socialists and Moslems to take over.

Surfdog-
Of course you believe in government...you are a liberal.
Liberals believe America is great because of government, and you want more of it.
Conservatives believe America is great because of individual achievement, ingenuity, and entrepreneurship and we want more of that. Government has a tendency to get in the way of these things through over-regulation and bureaucracy.
I know why we have tomato poisonings (if that is actually what caused it)...it is because those pesky consumers want a cheap product, so we import them from Mexico.
You want a better census? Hire a private firm...they can do it better than any government employee. The same could be said of the air traffic controllers.

If you dumb liberals would actually read the above post, you might be elated to hear what Putnam had to say. Your vitriol and immediate, gutteral reaction to anything Republican shows your lack of intellect for what it truly is.
Did schools fail you on reading, too - or are you really that dumb?

3:17 is your typical Ill-informed Delusional Indignant Opposition Troll… aka: Idiot.
These are the same morons who profess Christianity while blaspheming our Saviors name by calling Obama Messiah. They are also the same hypocritical fools who profess “Pro Life” while 80% of the women who seek abortions by choice are 25-35 years old, professional, and Republican.
Pro Life… so long as it doesn’t interfere with the P&L.

One more thing...the more power you give to government, the more of your freedom you give away.
You would not be welcome at the table with Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.
You would be one of those loyalists to the King of England.

3:17,
Put down the Kool-Aid and the Rove memo and crawl back out of your Mommy's basement. Look around. There's a conservative in the White House right now and he's spening money faster than any socialist. What do we have to show for that?
He is and always will be the worst president ever and even if McCain is elected his failed policies will just be seen as a continuation of the abysmal Bush legacy.
Posted by: | July 07, 2008 at 03:28 PM
Once again the St. Petetersburg Times is one big plug for John McCain! He will win Florida hands down? You have all turned into what can only be called poster children for McCain. I know McCain is the big business candidate and that you are a big business, but in that case please do not claim and or make believe you are presenting real news. We in the reading public call what your doing propaganda.

3:17, you're speaking my language.
We need to abolish these lazy deadweight government employees because private companies can always do a better job.
Police, Sheriffs deputies, Firefighters, Teachers, Judges, Professors, Corrections officers, Detectives, State Attorneys, Air force pilots, Public health officials, Army captains, Meat inspectors, Naval officers -- All lazy bums who need to be replaced by private employees, if we're to protect our liberty.

We need republicans that can give a conservative message that people can connect with. Regan, was great at this. Which is why the RNC, NRCC and the RPOF need to get off their duffs and start supporting Lt.C Allen West. He is a true American hero and we need leaders like him. Plus, he isn't afraid to take on Obama like everyone else. Go to his website today:

So the Bush tax cuts went to the wealthiest Americans, and so gas is more than 4 bucks a gallon, and so we've spent billions upon billions upon billions in Iraq, and so we're in a recession, and so 80 percent of Americans think we're headed in the wrong direction and so we're bleeding jobs and so 47 million Americans don't have health insurance. So what? As long as we stop the gays from marrying, we'll be all right. That'll cure everything. And Charlie's engaged, so we've got that going for us.
Which is good.

Now that Obama's the Dem candidate for President he needs to advocate sensible policies. In the primaries he could advocate silly policies that were effective vote-getters from his base. Now he needs to advocate policies that won't make him look like a fool if he tries to implement them as President.
Like the anti-free-trade rhetoric he was spouting on the campaign trail. The Messiah even had to send operatives to Canada (and probably other countries) in order to reassure foreign governments that he wasn't really a fool.
Expect President Obama to continue 98% of the Bush Administration policies. He'll throw his followers a few high-profile bones like "gays in the military" to cover this up. Maybe the media will continue to play along with the charade, maybe it won't. My bet, they are going to crucify the guy late in the campaign.
Pretty funny stuff if you ask me. Don't you just love politics?
Obama is nothing but another political clown. No different than McCain or Bush or Carter or Clinton. That's why Nader is getting my vote.

After 130+ years, Ulysses S. Grant can finally be at rest, as GWB easily the worst two term president in our history, and arguably the worst
overall; though my vote still goes to Buchanan on that one. He was American History's version of Nero; fiddling while the Republic was almost literally burning.
For sheer incompetence though, GW is hard to beat:foreign and domestic policy screw ups that may take a generation or more to fix, and an overall economy that may become 21st Century's version of the Great Depression before it bottoms out.
If we are entering the era of the Great
American Decline it is directly attributal to the policies of this President, and that will be his legacy.

We entered the Great American decline sometime around 1968. Fortunately for us, another rival superpower was in further decline until its own collapse in 1991, so when comparing, the illusion showed a much stronger US.
We have had economic spurts and lags in the years since, yet our role as sole superpower continues to diminsh.
Whether or not this is entirely bad will be left up to history. Our decline is as much our internal doing as it is foreign nations finally "catching up".

Which is exactly what GWB is doing -- oil company record profits quarter after quarter, while they continue to get huge tax breaks from the feds, defense contractor getting no-bid contracts and then delivering sub-par service to our troops and the reconstuction effort. It's one great big corporate handout to Dubya's friends, and you an me (and our children and grandchildren) will be left with the bill.

McSame does not appeal to all veterns, people are realizing, he voted AGAINST the GI Bill AGAINST VA Hospital benefits....He actually has a TERRIBLE voting record for veterens
McSame also has a terrible voting record for women's rights. He wants to over turn Roe vs Wade, he voted against requiring insurance companies to cover birth control but they cover Viagra...voted against requiring insurance companies to require mamograms be covered...voteed against the equal pay for women bill.
He is a 3rd term of bush but in my opinion, even worse, he is a WAR MONGER, that is all he cann think of WAR WAR WAR and he has said if we get into a 3rd war the DRAFT may be necessary and now he wants war with Iran? GET READY FOR THE DRAFT

Adam Putnam claims he does not to support earmarks, unless they are of "worth" in his opinion. Apparently farm earmarks are not "wasteful" in his opinion and he, a farmer ... Need I say more?
Putnam has done little for Poinciana, while ignoring our housing crisis. It is time that those who live in the Poinciana, Florida, show support for a candidate who at least cares about constituents ... us.
I will be voting for DOUG TUDOR.

Posted by: ernieson | July 11, 2008 at 11:49 AM
Putnam is the cousin of Katherine Harris which explains a lot about him.
McSame is against the GI Bill. His campaign is loaded with lobbyist like Charlie Black who was caught making lobbying calls on his cell phone from McCain's bus. The wife of McCain's Alabama State Chairman, Troy King, just caught her husband in bed with his male aide. McCain's Florida co-chair, Bob Allen, was arrested for offering oral sex to an undercover male officer in a park bathroom. McCain told reporters this week he didnt want to discuss women's healthcare issues. His solution to high gas prices is to drill off the coasts but admits there will be no gain for at least seven to ten years.....and that the oil is sold on the open market...it doesnt "belong" to the Americans.
Finally...who cares? While they have everyone out here fighting constantly, they are wining and dining each other at our expense. They all have universal healthcare at taxpayers expense. Republicans wont ever abolish abortion or outlaw gay marraige because they would have no other wedge issues. The Democrats wont ever pass universal healthcare for the same reason. The only ones who keep at each other are we the people. Why dont we try working with each other and screw the politicians?
