U.S. Rep. Boyd taps gas outrage
It's not only Republicans who are capitalizing on outrage over prices at the pump. U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd, a conservative Democrat from the panhandle, has begun sending this mailer to constituents.
He somewhat vaguely expresses support for "responsible domestic drilling" in approved areas and invites people to participate in a "telephone town hall" next Wednesday. Looks like a campaign mailer, right? But because it does not urge people to vote for Boyd, he was able to use taxpayer money to produce and send it out.

Telephone Town Hall:
"Hello, Boyd?"
"Yes?"
"Traitorous Scum!"

U.S. Rep. Boyd is a DINO.
Democrat In Name Only.
I hope to see Congress cleared of all this DINO deadwood after Obama becomes President.

Let's just clear Congress of all Democrats. Period.
Problem Solved!

Right after he came out against drilling, too, in the Panama City Newspaper.
He also refused to support energy exploration credits.
More like opportunistic hypocrite.

A little late to the game, Boyd, you pandering idiot.

1:02 Sorry, wingnuts like you are going to have a bigger problem after November, thanks to the failure named Bush.

But they've ended the War in Iraq...no wait, no they haven't...
But they've significantly lowered gas prices....wait, no again.
Ummm....(crickets chirping)...
(raises hand) Well, have they successfully impeached Bush/Cheney for war crimes, crimes against humanity, the Lindberg baby, WWI, WWII, and the JFK assassination?
No. Sit down. Go back to your coloring book.

Boyd can see it- it is a shame that Obama can't....

Pro-drilling folks often point to China's drilling in Cuba as a reason we should soil our shores with wells off our coast. Isn't that ironic. If we had used a little diplomacy a little earlier, that could be US drilling in Cuba right now, not China. Our little Cuban snit, fueled by little Miami Cuban politicos has come home to bite us on the butt.

How is Boyd a traitor? You can be a Democrat and favor oil exploration. Not all of us are Liberals.

1:37 Circular argument, as if that's not obvious. Love the way the obtuse Republicans like to blame the Democrats because they haven't fixed the problems caused by the Republicans.

Democrats ran on a platform of ending the war and lowering gas prices.
They have done neither.
The latter is something they don't have control over anyway, but they shouldn't have lied to the American public about it...it just so happens that the American Idol public are kind of stupid that way.
The former is something they have control over. They could have ended the war the minute they took over by eliminating the funding for the war. Congress holds the power of the purse, and instead of ending the war, they continued to fund it.
Punks.

Boyd was against drilling before he was for it.

2:00 "They could have ended the war the minute they took over by eliminating the funding for the war."
Is that the platform they ran on, or are you exaggerating just a bit? I'm 100% anti-Iraq, and I would not have voted to leave our troops unfunded. Duh.
Give the DEMs a few years with a real working majority and a non-obstructionist President, and we'll see if they can clean up the mess you've been working on since Reagan. No promises though; you've done a pretty thorough job of it.
PS, Clinton was making progress until you decided to railroad him for what can only be described as a tiny fraction of the Bush/Cheney/Rove Crimes.
Posted by: | July 22, 2008 at 02:12 PM
You mean the Clinton who also attacked Iraq?
I thought Iraq was not a problem?
Why would Clinton need to attack Iraq if they were not a problem?

2:12, You wrote "Give the DEMs a few years with a real working majority and a non-obstructionist President, and we'll see if they can clean up the mess you've been working on since Reagan"
The problem is that every 4 years, we have the same tired argument that "we" need to fix the mess the "other party" created. So we elect Dems to POTUS and House control, and in their greed they create other problems that the repubs will use as a campaign platform in '12. So nothing ever gets done that's constructive for this nation, only the people in power benefit. I will guarantee you that neither party gives a rat's behind about you, me, or anybody else. It's a powergrab that will continue until every voting American decides enough is enough! So how do we change it? Well, it's too early to shoot the ba$tard$ but too late to have change come from within. Both party's are much the same on all platforms, but they use key issues to divide us (see abortion, drilling, etc) so we fight among ourselves while the pols laugh all the way to the bank at your expense. The only way to change this tit-for-tat scheme they are pulling on the citizens is to vote for any alternate party to let them know that we, as a nation, have had enough! Only then will we get back on the right track as a nation.

Too bad Boyd's substitute for reality is nothing more than him playing his hand in the popularity contest by blaming speculators.
Does he have emotional issues or is he simply stupid? Perhaps he simply has no interest in the spirit of truth.
Geez, the CFTC task force released a report today saying the run up in prices was due to supply and demand.
No kidding...the mechanics of the futures markets make sure the fundamentals always prevail.

Donald Lance, that was your most eloquent argument ever made on this blog, in many many hundreds of entries.
Well said.

Donald Lance, you are wrong. Carter was good but ineffective. Clinton was too moderate. Nixon, Reagan, Bush, on the other hand were all spawns of Satan; evil beings from the pits of Hell.
Nice try, though. If you really feel so hopeless, go ahead and vote for Barr.

Boyd was completely wrong on this issue, which is why he had to do his re-election mailer.
When Bush showed he was serious about drilling, prices dropped. Boyd and his liberal Dem buddies were dead wrong and now he has to back-track.
This is right up there with Boyd's comment of "I'm not endorsing Obama but I'm voting for him."

How are the Dems going to do anything when there are no Dems running in the election? I count two rebuplican, one is pretending.
How many energy experts and big oil officials have to keep telling you geniuses that drilling will not gas prices before you comprehend what they are saying?
If the only way to get the price of gas to come down means more drilling,
Then can any of geniuses out there, please tell me why gas is only $3.64 in SC today? Are they secretly drilling somewhere in FL?
Come on wake up, FL is paying $4.00+
And FL is Republican, 'nough said.
Edwards may not have been the popular vote but gas in his state is $3.64.
I suppose Dems have lowered gas prices.

Yesterday, Boyd voted "Yes" to giving the US Treasury an $800BILLION blank check to bail out investors who knowingly took risks during an historic real estate bubble. He is now complicit in this historic theft of taxpayer money.
And to think I was angry that my tax dollars paid for his Town Hall mailer. That isn't even a rounding error compared to the $800BILLION he is stealing from taxpayers.
