Will Little Havana go Blue?

The New York Times Magazine suggests that's a possibility:

"Whether Joe Garcia and Raul Martinez win their bet, or instead, the Diaz-Balarts manage to win in what will almost certainly be a very bad cycle for Congressional Republicans, the change in Cuban Miami is palpable.

"Even the rhetoric of Washington politicians campaigning in South Florida seems to have grown more nuanced, as if these politicians and their staffs know that even David Rivera’s hard-line “supervoters” are no longer as likely to be appeased by symbolism as they often were in the past.”

Amen!

Wishful thinking!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

We'll find out soon enough....but only the NYT mag. could have made this sound so boring.

I know I'm not the only one who is getting sick of these tiresome predictions of Cuban-Americans "going left". Every election cycle, certain pundits predict trouble for Republicans in the South Florida districts and a leftward shift amongst Cuban-Americans and every election cycle they are proven wrong.

I recognize that there has been increased voter registration of younger generation Cuban-Americans and second or third wave arrivals, but that does not necessarily mean that the formidable Cuban-American voting bloc will be going for Joe Garcia or Raul Martinez this upcoming November (definitely not for Obama). The first wave arrivals and their progeny are, for the most part, still solidly conservative and remain a strong influence in Cuban-American politics.

These predictions amount to little more than wishful thinking at best, and, at worst, are hackneyed.

6:42 is correct...the vast majority of Cuban Americans are conservative...most of the families have first hand experience having their life, liberty and property taken from them...they will never turn over the security of this great nation to a complete novice like Obama. Look in your rear view mirror! The Straight Talk Express is about to overtake you!!!

GO JOE!!!

The staight talk express has no idea how bad economic conditions are in Miami Dade. The staight talk express is not going anywhere is citizens cannot afford the gas and half thebanks in Florida begin to fail!

Cuban-Americans will not be voting for a RACIST like Obama over a war hero like McCain.

Rev Wright & Father Pfleger ended Obama's chances for the W.H.

i'm cuban and i will never again vote for a republican. ever.

Cuban Americans need to start acting like real Republicans - you know, supporting free trade and opposing big government intruding into personal lives.

Vote for Change, vote for efforts to improve things, vote for JOE
