Crist, Rome set a date for wedding
UPDATE: Looks like the governor and his wife-to-be may celebrate their nuptials at the Renaissance Vinoy, the premier downtown St. Petersburg venue where Crist held his 2006 election celebration and has been seen lounging by the pool.
"He has made inquiries, and we would welcome the opportunity to host the governor's wedding at the Renaissance Vinoy," said Dennis Lesko, director of sales and marketing.
Lesko said he didn't think any contracts had been signed.
"I believe it's still in negotiation," he said. "I expect the governor is still shopping (venues)."

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A date's been set.
Governor Charlie Crist said Friday that he and Carole Rome will tie the knot December 12 in St. Petersburg. He didn't give any further details.
The couple got engaged July 3. Crist met Rome less than a year ago.
Rumors have swirled that Crist is among the contenders as Senator John McCain's running mate on the Republican ticket. Crist said he and his fiancee have not talked about the possibility of moving to Washington if he's tapped.

bets on when this blog gets shut down...
I put $50 on 3:56 PM

Charlie's conveniently timed nuptails sounds like how Old Hollywood operated back in the 1940s & 1950s.

McCain already said in an on-camera interview aboard the Straight Talk Express a few weeks ago that he is not picking Charlie Crist to be VP.
Too bad the St Pete Times keeps trying to promote this wishful thinking that McCain himself has already politely shut down.

Hope their marriage is happier than the McGreevey's.

Who cares? I still can't afford my rising insurance costs, rising property taxes, and threat of unemployment from a tarnished job market.
I hope he enjoys her money, at least someone will.

In an effort to help get this blog shutdown, let me add my two cents.
I have they are very happy, especially Carol. She'll have to go through the rest of this relationship in a sex-less marriage.

timing of the announcement.. right when the heat is on for the campaign donations scandal. hmmmm....

Who gets married on a Friday?
Posted by: | August 08, 2008 at 03:32 PM
Cheapskates get married on a Friday. Things are cheaper then. He's using her for her money and just cause he's getting married doesn't mean he isn't gay. A good way to hide it, from some. Strike two, she'll be out (the door) when his political career is over.
Posted by: Julian | August 08, 2008 at 03:39 PM
3:32 - They had to make sure that the wedding didn't interfere with the job as governor. Since Friday is an actual workday, there was no conflict for Cristi.
Posted by: | August 08, 2008 at 03:41 PM
Do you think he will really wear white? How brash.
Posted by: Kris | August 08, 2008 at 03:42 PM
Charlie gets married on a Friday so he won't have to go to work that day. Has he ever sat down and worked in his office in Tallahassee?
Posted by: Poptop | August 08, 2008 at 03:45 PM
timing of the announcement...right when Silky Pony announces he, um, serviced a filly that was not his wife...hmmmm...
Posted by: | August 08, 2008 at 03:46 PM
Charlie is getting married on Friday because Saturday is Leather Night at the Green Iguana.

What is the hurry? They had hardly been dating a couple of months and the ink was barely dry on her divorce and now a quicky wedding? Is she pregnant or is this conveniently planned around the presidential election?
Posted by: LDH | August 08, 2008 at 04:11 PM
They'll both make lovely brides! I wish them well. Wait til he cleans her out in the divorce in a couple years. Comes out of the closet, writes a bestseller and becomes "minority" owner of the Rays.

GOVERNOR CRIST INSTEAD OF CONCENTRATING ON YOUR WEDDING, WHY NOT TURN YOUR ATTENTION TO THE SCAMS UNCOVERED IN THE OFR OFFICES, YOUR OFFICES AND THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICES? WHY NOT WORK FOR YOUR PAYCHECK THAT YOU COLLECT. YOU TRULY ARE A FAILURE AND JUST AS BAD IF NOT WORSE THAT EX GOVERNOR BUSH!!!

Well played 3:52. +1 to you my friend, or do we only do that on message boards that are actually edited?
Posted by: Bunny | August 08, 2008 at 04:29 PM
Crist is gay, He is such a joke and disgusting .
Posted by: jackie | August 08, 2008 at 04:32 PM
You need to resign immediately before you can cause anymore harm to florida & its citizens.
Than you can continue your partying ways, travel, with your greedy bimbo, but at least not at the florida taxpayers expense!

Why doesn't he plan on working for the people of Florida. This man is an AssClown...using our state for his ambitions......
Posted by: Dr_Dug | August 08, 2008 at 07:19 PM
Charlie treats Florida and it's citizens like his "glory hole" he pops in for some pleasure all the while screwing us; then he pops out to travel the world, become veep or spend time with his "beard" on his fake wedding day. Nicely done!
Posted by: f'd enough | August 08, 2008 at 08:11 PM
Apparently, politics has been a plethora of everything for Crist. Sorta' fits the mold, eh?
Posted by: ole gene | August 08, 2008 at 08:51 PM
Interesting comments since the citizens of Florida thinks Crist is doing such a good job. The reason he marries on a Friday is so he can consider marriage as well as all his other worldly travels a "business expense" leaving the Florida citizens to pay for yet another unnecessary expense. How about focusing on your job Mr. Governor..the state is a shameful mess. You too are a joke!

bets on when this engagement gets shut down...
I put $50 on 3 min 56 seconds after the RNC announcement.

Most likely the Renaissance Vinoy has no open event rooms suitable for a Saturday reception (busy with holiday parties). Friday night perhaps there is a room available for their reception.
Posted by: Joan | August 08, 2008 at 10:51 PM
oh Joan, surely the Renaissance Vinoy would make it happen REGARDLESS of other bookings. After all it is our wonderful Governor Crist!
Posted by: | August 08, 2008 at 11:03 PM
What is wrong with you out there? You put him in office. You know there were others running. You voted for for him like you did for Bush and Bush and Bush and Bush, Baker and Baker and you will vote for Foster and Flowers. If you stop putting them in office things many change. Now go out and vote for Young!!!!!
Posted by: KIm | August 08, 2008 at 11:21 PM
Will Charlie's daughter be a maid of honor?
Posted by: | August 09, 2008 at 01:15 AM
Unbelieviable! When is Crist stepping down and resigning from office? Thanks to Crist and his "not my problem" thought process, many floridians are left victims in Crists wake. Does he care? NO he does not! But he does care about partying, traveling, asking for donations, and chasing young women. Is this how a Governor should be acting? NO! Maybe if he spent more time working and solving problems that need to be addressed in our state, he wouldn't have time for fun & games at the taxpayers expense. When is someone going to expose Crist for the fraud he is?
Posted by: Victim of Fraud | August 09, 2008 at 01:25 AM
This guy is an empty suit in an empty chair sp debonaire !
Posted by: Jim Davis | August 09, 2008 at 07:19 AM
Lets hear more about McCain's interview where he says he is not picking Crist. Can someone find that on utube or somewhere for us. Does Carol know?? someone find straight talk express and lets all watch that. straight talk can't include discussion about gay men.
Posted by: | August 09, 2008 at 10:24 AM
Never having voted for Charlie- and never will- I still wish him and his bride to be all the best luck for the future. These idiots that are dripping with hate should be left in their sand box to play with their toys.
Posted by: True Blue | August 09, 2008 at 02:12 PM
will Jason and Bruce be invited?
Heard "the Donald" will be the ring bearer for Chuck!
Posted by: terminator | August 09, 2008 at 06:18 PM
Crist instead of planning a wedding, why don't you plan your resignation for total lack of actions to protect florida homeowners caught in the OFR'S non help mortgage scams?
Posted by: florida scams uncovered | August 10, 2008 at 03:15 PM
Charlie "the peoples' governor" with 70% approval ratings, should invite everyone and have the wedding at the St. Pete Pier with the reception over at Straub Park. The Vinoy could set up an open bar for everyone too!
Posted by: | August 10, 2008 at 04:40 PM
They'll both make lovely brides! I wish them well.
My thoughts precisely
