Dueling campaign events
Not that anyone will actually want to hit both events ... But the Barack Obama campaign is hosting the grand opening of its Tampa field office at 5 p.m. tomorrow at 817 E. Washington Street. A half hour later and just one mile away, the John McCain camp is hosting an RNC Victory Tour and Strategy Briefing at their headquarters at 142 Platt Street. Featured speakers: RNC chair Mike Duncan and RPOF chair Jim Greer.

from AMERICAblog, 8.4.08:
"Joe posted a video yesterday from Jed, showing McCain trying to answer a question from an audience member, and the video is really disturbing.
From three different angles you just watch McCain get sort of totally confused.
It's like one minute he's there and the next he's not.
McCain's campaign would like nothing better than to demonize anyone who dares mention McCain's age (he's going to be 72 this month).
But the fact remains that there's a real question as to why the John McCain we knew in 2000 was vibrant and on the ball, and why John McCain circa 2008 seems prone to repeated gaffs and bouts of confusion.
And let's not forgot, McCain got tons of media attention in 2000 as well - and he wasn't at all as "off" as he is today, so it's not just a question of "oh, candidates make gaffs when they're on cam 24/7" - McCain didn't have these problems in 2000."
maybe a final chance to see johnnie before he becomes ronnie ray-gun...drool and all!!
truly tragic personally and even more so for ALL OF US, if this is the BEST the R's can offer!!!!

Oops: Democrat on VP shortlist underscores Obama’s inexperience
By Michelle Malkin • August 4, 2008 02:50 PM This is definitely snort-worthy. The foot of Democrat VP shortlister Bill Ritter, governor of Colorado, meets his mouth:
“Michelle – check out Colorado Governor Bill Ritter’s oops this morning on the Mike Rosen show, hour two (www.850koa.com). When asked about rumors that he was on the list as a vice presidential candidate he remarked (not quoting) that his 18 months of gubernatorial experience were insufficient to be considered for vice president. When asked to compare this to [Obama's] 143 days of experience [in the Senate], he quickly changed the subject.”
I’ve transcribed the relevant parts of the exchanges, in which Ritter first downplays the rumors that Obama is considering him…
Rosen: “Why don’t you think you’d be a good choice?”
Ritter: “Well, just because, I think there are a lot of things that he has to take into consideration. I’ve been governor for 18 months. My experience before that was as a district attorney. I loved being a district attorney…but I don’t think that’s what Barack Obama’s looking for in a vice president. I’ve been governor for 18 months. It’s been a great experience. But it’s just 18 months…Obama has to think about experience…levels of experience…”
[Ritter then discusses other VP possibilities...Tim Kaine, Evan Bayh...praises their experience, foreign policy creds...Joe Biden/chair of Senate Foreign Relations committee..."Any of those three would make sense to me"...Kathleen Sibelius is a great woman...]
…and then during Q&A, Ritter fields an excellent question:
Caller Richard from Windsor: “Governor, you said 18 months’ experience wasn’t enough experience as governor to be the vice president. Would you want to contrast that with the 143 days’ experience Obama as senator before he decided he had enough experience to be president.”
Ritter: All I can tell ya is I am a fan of Barack Obama’s. Met him in 2004 during his campaign for Senate…You meet him and discover there’s something very different about him. That’s all I’ll say.

...kinda funny Obama's trying to steal McCain's energy policy now! He's not only said he'd be open to offshore drilling, he wants to tap the reserves (that he was against before), and wants to "get off foreign oil in 10 years.
Uh, Obama, McCain's already laid out a plan to do that. So, has non-candidate, Boone Pickens.
Maybe instead of calculating and watching polls every other minute, mix in a little common sense.
We know you're not ready to lead, can't admit you're wrong, and are woefully arrogant, but, common sense isn't that tough, Mr. Obama.
Maybe in 2012. Though, doubtful, as Hillary will be running then.

John McCain is younger than Nelson Mandela was when elected President of South Africa.

Why are we even discussing this? The people of Berlin have spoken -- this election is over.

Duel?
Is that way you compare one event which will need traffic control to get to that will have an electric feeling in the crowd 20 times what a similar event down the street will have?
McAmnesty has really got the base of Corporate CEO's and other users of cut rate illegal alien labor fired up. Well, doesn't he or have they left him too because they can get the same anti-American deal from Obama?

People outside of the U.S. MAY want Obama as the next president. But come November, the majority of the electorate will not!!!

Obama can become the President of Germany or the European Union. He fits in more there than here as a liberal elitist.
Don't they have Arugula & Whole Foods in Germany?

And the RPOF couldn't give tickets away in the panhandle that they advertised for more than two weeks to "view" McSame - glad no one went to hear him speak - he only spoke three sentences!
Posted by: Sydney | August 04, 2008 at 11:07 PM
Sydney, the people of the panhandle have TVs. They saw the Obama European Tour and know the election is over. Why should they go to see McCain when the Germans and the French have made it perfectly clear who they want to be our President?
Posted by: | August 05, 2008 at 08:31 AM
8:31 problem is - no one wants to see/hear John McSame here at home! even with 1/2 a well-known country band. with tickets offered for two weeks!
and it looks as though the campaign only wants their campaign covered by caucasian reporters.
sad. Not only does McCain disrespect women, Vets, but non-caucasians as well. Wouldn't be too bad, if the country was filled with white men only.
Posted by: Sydney | August 05, 2008 at 09:37 AM
Sydney, Sydney, Sydney.
Were you asleep during the Clinton presidency? Disrespecting women actually makes people call someone a great president.
As as for only caucasian reporters covering McCain, I'll have to take your word for it, but the major media have decided the race is over - why send the first string to cover a candidate when its been decided already?
