Haridopolos: Do as I say ...
State Sen. Mike Haridopolos has crisscrossed Florida this summer, warning voters of the evils of a proposed tax swap that could be on the Nov. 4 ballot.
To the Republican lawmaker from Indialantic, who hopes to become Senate president in 2010, Amendment 5 is a hidden tax increase. That goes against the mantra he has preached during eight years in the Legislature: Government must shrink, not grow.
But what Haridopolos — the most visible opponent of Amendment 5 — doesn't mention on the road is that he is a longtime government employee, who in February got a big promotion to lecturer and internship coordinator at the University of Florida's Bob Graham Center for Public Service. He is paid $75,000 a year. (story here)

Paula Dockery will be Senate President.

Hari is a LOSER and so is Amendment 5.

If Hari was a political savant, he would recruit a Senator with lesser seniority to carry his torch for this cause. With Hari being in line to be the Sen Pres, OF COURSE he will campaign against this. He will have a projected deficit of $7 Billion and will not be able to spend as he would like if the tax base remained the same. To me, he loses credibility carrying this torch because he is coming across as serving his own self interests. As the old adage goes, follow the money! He may very well be against this for all the right reasons, but it doesn't come across that way when you look at his ambitions going forward.

We need more money to educate our kids - not tax breaks for big business. Vote out the entire crop of villianous Republicans who are turning our state into a Prop 13 ghetto. That means vote out Hari and vote NO on 5 and all future selfish GOP "tax reform."

I never questioned his ambition, just his motive.

had a “Haridopolos” once… but my girlfriend made me shave it and now my dopolos is as smooth as a baby’s bottom!

Haridopolos sure has a strange relationship with lobbyist Frank Tsamoutales. It appears to be a combination of personal and professional or perhaps a business one as well?
Posted by: Tod | August 21, 2008 at 11:25 AM
Tsamoutales is a dirtbag and is tied to the hip with that Agriculture crack head dirtbag Mike Salerio. Sad to hear they are both connected to Haridopolos.
Posted by: | August 21, 2008 at 11:46 AM
Mark my word- Tsamoutales will bring Haridopolos down before the presidency.

John McCain is too old to be president.

When folks ask what happened to cutting their property taxes and it becomes common knowledge that GOP leadership killed the chance to vote on it there will be a tremendous backlash.
Where is the better plan Hari? The status quo will not work. You are about to sink the ship even if you don't see the hole in the hull you just opened up.

mike haridopolous is too young to drive

But he's a good swimmer.

The Republicans keep triping over their________

Duh 11:00 a.m. That $240 you refer to is a small part of the story. In duh like fashion, you neglect to mention the legislation that forced cities and counties to reduce taxes two years straight and limits future tax increases to income growth. Then there is portability. All together these laws add up to thousands of dollars in tax savings for all property owners. Ironic isn't it?. Stupid people always think everyone else is stupid.

Can someone please tell me who is Frank Tsamoutalis and why he has to be hired so that Haridopolos takes an interest on an issue?
Posted by: | August 21, 2008 at 06:20 PM
10:56 let me interpret for you, the news is that Steve/SPT had the guts to call him out on his hypocrisy.
Posted by: | August 21, 2008 at 06:50 PM
Very simple. Haridopolos takes care of Tsamoutales and Tsamoutales takes care of Haridopolos.

Let the People decide.
Posted by: | August 21, 2008 at 10:54 PM
Aren't Haridopolous and Tsamoutales both from Melbourne? Guy Spearman too? Isn't that a normal regional connection?
Posted by: | August 21, 2008 at 11:35 PM
12:26, we'd like to hear more.
Posted by: | August 22, 2008 at 09:26 AM
OK, I'm still waiting for the news. The punch line? The point?
