Obama: NASA will inspire once again
Barack Obama keeps pronoucning Brevard County like "Breverd,'' but that's not stopping massive cheers here at Brevard Community College. About the only one not on his feet is the Delmar Johnson of the RPOF, who is checking out the opposition.
Obama: "We need a real vision for space exploration. To help formulate this vision, I’m going to reestablish the National Aeronautics and Space Council so that we can develop a plan to explore the solar system – a plan that involves both human and robotic missions, and enlists both international partners and the private sector. And as America leads the world to long-term exploration of the moon and Mars, and beyond , let’s also tap NASA’s ingenuity to build the airplanes of tomorrow and to study our own planet so we can combat global climate change. Under my watch, NASA will inspire the world once again, make America stronger, and help grow the economy right here in brevard county and right here in Florida. That’s what this election is all about. It’s about raising our sights, seizing this moment, and reclaiming our destiny in this country."

My love for Barack Obama has grown stronger with each passing day. He is the man of my dreams. I would do anything for this man. Yes, and that too. I want so desperately to be Larry Sinclair’s replacement. With open arms, dear Barack, I am waiting.

McCain is always "spaced out."
Does that make him pro NASA?

FLASH: Obama's new film, "Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Keyna" will show that his presidential campaign was a scam and front and will expose his supporters as naive and gullible fools. While he could not get Pamela Anderson to star in this production, he does do a disgusting bed wrestling scene with Rosie O'Donnell. The movie is scheduled for release at the Democratic National Convention, later this month.

Read "Obama Nation". I did and am now voting for McCain.

Obama is hitting every mark dead on, I somewhat stopped watching the two campaigns a month ago because it was all mundane back and forth crap. With his visit to St. Pete I thought I'd read up on it... Obama is rising above the rhetoric and clearly laying out how his change will restore America to what it should and can be. After 8 years of total neglect I still think we are doomed but if we have any shot at getting our country back I believe Obama can do it. Guess it's time to start donating and helping out.

One of the big problems Sen. Obama faces is that his soaring rhetoric lacks specifics. And his position on issues often are different from his rhetoric. His visit to the Space Coast of Florida is a prime example.
Below is from an article in today's Tamap Tribune:
WASHINGTON - When Sen. Barack Obama visits the Space Coast today, he likely will be pressed for straight answers about his plan to help pay for early childhood education by delaying NASA's program to return astronauts to the moon and explore Mars.
"If I have the opportunity, I'm going to ask him where, exactly, does he now stand on this," said Robert Jordan, 50, of Titusville, an engineering process manager with NASA's shuttle program.
"Has he changed his position, or not?" asked Jordan, who says he and a lot of his colleagues at United Space Alliance - NASA's main shuttle support contractor - will attend today's event.
Obama may have come to Florida to tout his economic stimulus initiatives, but Jordan and others say the candidate's talk of delaying NASA's next generation of manned space vehicles will not hurt just the U.S. space program.
Obama's proposal, which would delay the Constellation program by at least 5 years to 2020 or later, could represent another major blow to the local economy, opponents say.
The Obama campaign on Friday declined to talk about whether the Democratic presidential hopeful still wants to delay Constellation development.
But Obama's "Plan for Lifetime Success Through Education" remained posted Friday on his campaign Web site - specifying that his $10 billion-a-year early education plan will be paid, in part, by "delaying the NASA Constellation program for five years."

Obama speaks with forked tongue!!!!
Posted by: | August 02, 2008 at 01:25 PM
Hey 12:27 - Maybe you better read the Buzz post again: "that's not stopping massive cheers here at Brevard Community College. About the only one not on his feet is the Delmar Johnson of the RPOF".
Looks like they love him in Brevard County, irrespective of the set up hit piece in the Tampa Trib.

Space coast needs those jobs! Delay by 5 yrs? That would be crushing to the Cape, the contract workers' etc. Obama does not understand the importance of the Space Center. VOTE MCCAIN!
Posted by: | August 02, 2008 at 02:10 PM
Develop a plan for space exploration? What a great idea---except that it ALREADY EXISTS! Only Obama has the ignorant hubris to suppose that our NASA engineers are sitting idle here in Bre-verd without his mystery plan for space exploration.
Posted by: | August 02, 2008 at 02:18 PM
Watch out tech employees and engineers if Obama gets in. Your jobs at Harris, NG, Boeing, Intersil. Days numbered. Obama will not get cheers if good paying jobs in Brevard vanish as magically as he presents oratory to the masses. The masses need to keep their jobs.
Posted by: | August 02, 2008 at 02:18 PM
218 is right. Before writing his speech, Obama staffers should have visited www.nasa.gov/missions/index.html. NASA already has a plan for human and robotic space exploration with private and (sine qua non) international partners.
Posted by: | August 02, 2008 at 02:25 PM
Ah, but this is the "moment."
Posted by: | August 02, 2008 at 02:27 PM
His lack of knowledge considering his level of education leaves me somewhat astounded. Further, his speeches often seem in direct contrast to his position papers and official campaign statements. This is not a petty program. NASA and supporting private companies are worth retaining.. especially in Florida.. I feel as though he has never ever watched a shuttle launch and felt proud of the men and women aboard and on the ground in support roles.
Posted by: | August 02, 2008 at 02:31 PM
Probably because Delmar was the only one with any sense.
Posted by: | August 02, 2008 at 02:38 PM
Or the people at the rally were not those working hard for their families in the office on a Sat!!! Who did not have the luxury of a break and who need to keep their jobs!!!
Posted by: | August 02, 2008 at 02:45 PM
How will Obama fund NASA when his tax plan will bankrupt America? Raising payroll taxes and the capital gains tax will kill the economy.
Posted by: | August 02, 2008 at 02:58 PM
If nothing changes, NOTHING CHANGES. And the last 8 years will continue into the next 4.
Vote Obama.

The politics and arrogance of Obama's attitude are NOT a good kind of change.
Posted by: | August 02, 2008 at 03:39 PM
Guess Obama forgot to mention that tiny, little detail about delaying the NASA constellation program to the Brevard crowd.

The Messiah spoke and I listened. I'm voting for John McCain!

The book, "Obama Nation" that is out about Oboybama is not being put out in some bookstores. Some of the larger bookstores are keeping it off the shelves telling people that they have not heard of it or it hasn't come in yet. Giving excuses not to sell it. Oboybama is scared to death that people will read the book and is using his supporters to keep stores from selling the book. However, it is available at all the online book sales I checked. I'm amazed that a liberal like Oboybama would use such a tactic--he's sounding more and more like a GWB clone! Oboybama suppressing book distribution will be the biggest marketing tool the author has seen to get it read

I for one am not buying his change brand.

McCain's response:
"I have tried to cut funding for NASA for decades. I'm certain all of our space research dollars aren't being properly funneled to my buddies and actual research is being done. I will put an end to this immediately!"

Interesting column in today's Wall Street Journal about a study on honesty in polling. Seems that 10%-12% of Democrats may not be telling the truth about who they are going to vote for in these telephone polls. Could well be that the polling numbers for Obama may not be that accurate. I've wondered about this.

Was that Delmar Johnson or THE Delmar W.Johnson, III?
Posted by: | August 02, 2008 at 06:03 PM
I'm just sitting here reading these comments, and I wonder how so many Americans were indoctrinated with fascist sympathies. You guys are two steps to the right of Mussolini. When did America abandon its Enlightenment ideals in favor of these anti-intellectual street thugs?

Define "change." Obama hasn't.

Interesting headline in the Los Angeles Times:
"With Obama's election sure, Illinois Dems line up for his Senate seat."
Well folks, since the media has already conducted the Election and declared the winner, guess we can skip the November vote.
The news is becoming as cocky and arrogant as the Messiah.

I understand that Senator Obama only took pre-selected questions from National Urban League President, Mayor Marc Morial after addressing the conference in Orlando today. I guess Senator Obama is uncomfortable taking questions from a supportive audience.
I was in the audience during Senator McCain's speech to the National Urban League yesterday afternoon. The delegates were respectful, but clearly the majority support Obama. Senator McCain took questions for 30-40 minutes after his remarks. The questions were not pre-selected and none were softballs. You may disagree with Senator McCain's policies, but should respect the fact that he isn't afraid of speaking to groups who may disagree with him.

That's why Obama won't have a real debate with McCain. He's too busy trying to act like Kennedy with his space speech.
Posted by: | August 02, 2008 at 10:04 PM
Obama is nothing more than a creation of the mainstream liberal media.
The voters are now seeing him for who he really is. That is why his polling numbers are freefalling.

I am an independant voter. I have looked at both sides extensively. Anyone who is keeping up to date with this election can see that Se. McCain is running a dirty campaign. Everytime McCain is on T.V. he bashes obama instead of telling us his views. It is clear we need to change the way this country is one and right now it looks like barack obama stands for that change.

This "independent voter" above is, for some reason, posting on various blogs with the same exact post.
Obama campaign bloggers go to bed! The American people will not be fooled by a flashy grin!
Posted by: | August 03, 2008 at 02:09 AM
What are McCain's policies?
What is he for? All he talks about is Obama blah, blah, blah...

Barack Obama wants to spend hundreds of billion possibly trillions of taxpayer's money to play with sand from Moon & Mars when the U.S. economy is on the brinks of recession.
Is this worst than "THE BRIDGE TO NOWHERE SPENDING IN ALASKA"?

12:48AM,
Obama needs to be bashed because the liberal media is giving "the one" a free ride.

Obama is basically proposing shutting down the manned space program. What will he fund education with 5 years from now maybe he could he could shut down the national weather service when it's time to start funding Nasa again, you know delay forecasting for 5 years, they get the forecast wrong most of the time anyhow!
Ok, Obama gives a great speech, but hasn't anyone notice he's completely incompetent. When I first read about this I thought it was a joke. How stupid do you have to be to go to Brevard and give a speech saying your shutting down the space program? By the way please vote for me.
Maybe all the people who lose their jobs can get work in the chinese space program.
What the hell is wrong with Bill Nelson he was standing right beside him! I wonder what Nelson plans on doing after politics?
Posted by: anthony | August 04, 2008 at 10:15 AM
manned space is too expensive anthony. the scientific community laughed at bush when he said he wanted to put another man on the moon.

Forget Obama. Forget McCain. Forget Tiger Woods . . . Delmar Woodrow Johnson, III is America's Only Chance.

From 200 BC to 1400 AD the china lead the word in exploration when they suddenly decided that it was too expensive. At that time they were the most technologically advanced nation in the world. Now they dream of getting a factory jobs makeing cheap crap for the people in the west who didn't stop exploring.
Ever hear of Helium-3? What do think is going to fuel the fusion power plants the scientific community is working on? Where do you think it's going to come from?
