Crist may still "make" the RNC
Gov. Charlie Crist, at a hurricane briefing in Tallahassee this morning, said he has taped a speech that could be used tonight at the Republican National Convention. The RNC Web site still lists him as a guest speaker, though the fine print warns that the schedule is subject to change. "I've taped one. I don't know if they're going to be able to use it or not," Crist said.

Don't WASTE my taxpayer dollars flying my state jet up to St. Paul. Do as our esteemed Governor Palin did and consider selling the jet rather than trying to break any frequent flier records.
THE PEOPLE

What is really scarry to me is that if Palin is qualified to be VP then Charlie is at least 50 times more qualified. Wow.
He has been Governor for 20 months of a state that almost 27 time the population of Alaska. He has had three fewer scandals in that time. He has commanded the Florida National Guard. He was Attorney General for the State. He was Education Commissioner of the State. He was a State Senator. He served as staff for Sen. Mack in Washington. And, as we all know, Charlie isn't even the slightest bit ready.
I love when the Republicans float that she has more "executive experience" than Obama because based upon their analysis, Charlie and Palin have more than McCain. Please, she has been on the stage for five days, and its time to get off.

If the Governor attended the convention (and he deserves a great deal of credit for staying in Florida during the storms) he would fly a private plane NOT the state plane.

Sarah Palin was pregnant when she eloped and married Todd. Track, her first child, was born seven and one half months after they were married and he was no preemie.

2 out of every 3 African American babies are born to unwed teenage mothers. Polling shows that 90% of them will be voting for Obama. If you want to talk about family values, talk to the Obama supporters.

Palin is a hypocrite - both she and her daughter had unwed pregnancies. And yet she wants to legislate how citizens live their own personal lives.

Last I heard it was the Republicans that are running on "family Values" and God Cand us to Make War" platform. Democrats are running on restoring our economy, creating jobs, making Anericans truly safe and ending the Iraq War for Oil program the Republicans have going. Palin is a hipocrite.

One has to wonder... If Bristol and Levi are truly going to get married, why haven't they done so yet? She is 5 months pregnant. Could it be that family values are allowed to take a back seat to not being pregnant in wedding pictures? Or could it be that they really have no intention of getting married and that is just the story until November 4th? And who will be helping these kids once they get married? Will they stay in Wasilla while Sarah and Todd move to DC or will they move into the Vice-Presidents residence at the Naval Observatory and live off the taxpayers? I guess it is easy to keep the kid and get married when your mom is the Governor or Vice-President and you can rely on the taxpayers to cover all your expenses!!

It sounds like Gov. Crist's Political Consultant/ Director of Communications Erin Isaac out played themselves with the convention and the RNC. This is such a rookie move by Erin and her new assistant.

As an independent voter I decided to watch the Palin speech and must say I found myself looking at the clock thinking, when is this thing going to end. I couldn't believe how bad I thought it was. She came across as a giggly teenager giving a presenation on what she did for summer. It seemed beyond sophmoric. It had ackward pauses and the timing was completely off. It was awful. She is definitely not ready to be the VP. That was my take away thought.

Think Charlie is playing it cool... on the heels of being jilted at the altar, he is sulking... he knows McCain needs Florida and Charlie believes he can deliver it for McCain... fly on the wall says Charlie is positioning for a high-level position... and when one is promised, he will go all out for McCain...

he wants to be up in St. Paul partying hearty with his fellow wingnuts and these damn hurricanes keep coming.
Chuck's still hanging on. Next he hopes he'll get AG if McCain gets elected but McCain knows that post is too over the top for a lightweight like Crist.
McCain will throw him a bone if he delivers Florida, Secretary of Interior is what I see in my crystal ball!
poor pitiful Chuck!

Palin has demonstrated that someone can be Governor without all of the expensive tax paid luxuries. She cooks her own meals, buys her own groceries and sold the state plane. Meanwhile our Governor has a full time cook, flies all over hell in a state jet, lives by himself in an oversized state owned mansion and is driven by a chauffer in a state car. We have a self imposed Imperial Governor with all of the trappings. If the Democrats are smart, they will take this one issue and send Charlie Crist back to his parent's condominium in St. Pete.

Wow, 3:17, you're so hung up in the past. Guess that's why you and the Obamanations trot out tired liberal proposals like higher taxes, class warfare, and - something I can't beleive - attacking Palin in the same manner Dems accuse Republicans of attacking African-Americans.

Can Palin be Gov here too?
Posted by: ygg | September 04, 2008 at 03:30 PM
would that be the same republicans that have less than 2% of African Americans at their convention while the Dems had about 26%, more closely reflecting the countries make-up. Everyone knows that republicans only use blacks as props. They dont get any really leadership, power or opportunity in the republican party as the whites would riot if blacks were put in power roles over any white person. Look at Black republicans leaders like Micheal Steele. With all his qualifications he is relegated nationally by the republicans to token-in-chief, no power, leadership or anything else in the national republican party.

Last night, between the four speakers: Romney, Huckabee, Giuliani & Palin, George W. Bush was only mentioned once (Romney's pre-prime-time speech). On Tuesday Bush wasn't mentioned AT ALL. What an amazing sense of pride the Republicans have displayed in Bush's Legacy (snark). Wonder what tonight will bring.

The vetting process was completely thorough and I'm grateful for the results." - John McCain
As the true vetting of Sarah Palin continued yesterday, we learned more about John McCain's pick for vice-president. Here's a recap of what we learned about the person John McCain thinks should be a 72-year-old heartbeat away from the presidency:
She was involved in yet another ethical scandal, this time relating to her firing of a longtime local police chief, who "says he was fired because he stepped on the toes of Palin's campaign contributors, including bar owners and the National Rifle Association."
Although the McCain campaign has stressed her command of the Alaska National Guard as "experience," she never issued a single order.
Watch CNN's Campbell Brown call McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds out on his spin on this and more here.
Video surfaced of Sarah Palin at her church just three months ago, claiming that regardless of what policies are enacted, it doesn't mater if "people of Alaska’s heart isn’t right with God."
Palin also claimed that American soldiers have been sent to Iraq "on a task that is from God."
She can't "fix" Washington when she's played the Washington game so well:
Wasilla had received few if any earmarks before Palin became mayor. She actively sought federal funds -- a campaign that began to pay off only after she hired a lobbyist with close ties to Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), who long controlled federal spending as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee. He made funneling money to Alaska his hallmark.
Alaska, by the way, ranked #1 in earmarks last year.
She lied--and continues to lie without shame--regarding her alleged "opposition" to the Bridge to Nowhere.
A 62 page opposition research document from Alaska was released, filled with strange tidbits like the fact that she presided over a wedding at Wal-Mart ("it was so Wasilla") and that she once "founded a company called "Rouge Cru" -- what she called a "classy" way to say redneck -- in case her political career didn't work out a few years ago."
Just two weeks ago, she sat in the pews while her pastor delivered an anti-Jewish sermon.
Yesterday morning, we learned that the Troopergate report was due out on the eve of the election, October 31st. Yesterday afternoon, we learned that the investigation would probably be delayed because the star witness suddenly decided not to testify.
Two days ago, longtime chair of the AIP, a secessionist party, stated that Palin attended their 1994 Convention: "Palin was at the convention in 1994. She was there." Yesterday, he said he couldn't remember.
Speaking of the secessionist party (and the fact that is has been confirmed that Sarah Palin's husband has been a member for almost a decade), we learned that the FBI did not conduct a background check on Palin.
The McCain camp worked the refs before Palin's speech, claiming that the media were being sexist by asking questions. Meanwhile, in the reality-based world, McCain's National Co-Chair stated that the press coverage has been "completely fair."
Palin isn't helping McCain in the polls. In fact, it's Obama who is enjoying a Palin bounce.
All that, in just 24 hours.
But members of the press, John McCain is telling you to back off asking questions, so you should just trust his judgment.
Because clearly, from what we have learned in just the last five days, judgment is something McCain has by the bucketful

What's even more amazing is that Palins speech was on only 6 channels and Obama's on 10! Had she been given the favored media status of the Messiah, she would hav exceeded even his numbers.

Crist has got great political instincts all can agree whether you like his governing style or not. He knows how to win elections and back winners. Which means he knows how to spot the losers. The last thing he needs heading into a pivotal pre-election year is to be associated with the "right-wing-fringe" losing McCain/Palin ticket. I imagine this distancing is intentinonl as Charlie can see the loss coming.

Obama as a Community Organizer--what a joke!! Obama's organizing was of rather a different sort. He organized mostly radical types to promote further rabble rousing in the community. Quite a different community organizer. Moreover, he mobilised taxpayer funds for his own salary in order to organize. There generally isn't any accountability for this type of "work" and the funding. Lastly, perhaps you should read up on how he helped his friend, former domestic terrorist Ayers, mismanage $49 million that was supposed to improve Chicago inner city schools. The end result was zero improvement and no record to show what the money was spent on. This is really no surprise, we know that government bureaucrats love nothing better than to spend other peoples' money in order give themselves a feeling of accomplishment. That is all that Obama is interested in. Like Palin said, he is not interested in the welfare of the country and I say he is only interested in his own ego and rise to fame
