Florida Republicans say no to Oprah
The Florida Federation of Republican Women is calling for a boycott of the Oprah Winfrey Show following reports that Oprah will not have Sarah Palin on before the election.
"Women in Florida helped build Oprah into the icon she is today," said Linda Ivell, group president. "With our Republican sisters across the nation, we have collectively enjoyed her entertaining, informative and female-driven programming as we raised our families and became more empowered as women. We are deeply disappointed in Ms. Winfrey's decision to sit out the greatest political moment in the history of women since suffrage."
Ivell, in a release sent to newspapers and other media outlets, said the effort was part of a push-back against the "liberal media" for questioning the selection of Palin as John McCain's vice presidential candidate. But Oprah's people say she does not want to use her show as a platform for any candidate. More here.

What's news about this? Oprah is a big supporter of Obama and wouldn't want anyone to see Palin. That would jeopardize her plan to get Obama to give billions to Africa for all of her projects there. Oprah and Obama are two of a kind: "To He.. With America"!

Kudos for good leadership from Linda Ivell and the Florida Federation of Republican Women.

Oprah is entitled to have anyone she wants on her show. And let's face it, how many of HER faithful watchers were going to vote Communist anyway?
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 06:43 PM
Maybe they should extend that boycott to all except AP, Reuters and that kind of reports. Everything else comes with a letal dose of opinion.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 06:59 PM
Dont blame ophrah. The freak might pull out her bulldog lipstick joke. Its a family show.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 07:14 PM
However much I would like to see Oprah interview Palin, she decided not to have candidates on her show. When Obama was on Oprah's show, he was not running for President.
Why is Palin refusing to apear on Meet the Press? That is the show for candidates.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 07:31 PM
7:31 that's just a very thin technicality.
And who says Palin is refusing to appear on anything?
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 07:49 PM
I bet its those mysoginistic SOBs on those leftie Sunday morning shows who don't want to have her on.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 07:54 PM
If Oprah has no respect in this historic victory for women then she doesnt deserve our support for her media outlet. Her wel-heeled audience is tuning out and canceling their subscriptions
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 07:54 PM
This is purely a black and white issue. Before this election is over we will see if reverse racism and overt sexism trumps the juggernaut of the left wing conspiracy.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 07:55 PM
Palin can hold her own on Meet The Press and anywhere else!
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 07:56 PM
What a shame Oprah is putting party before sisterhood. And we ARE sisters, no mistake!!
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 08:11 PM
Today was the first day I didnt watch Oprah....and I'll never watch it again. The unfair and unbalanced media is just sickening to me
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 08:19 PM
We don't watch her show anyway.
Oprah is so 90's
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 08:38 PM
From what I can tell, Oprah should go ahead and have Gov. Palin on the show. It would be great to see a real interview with Palin - not a scripted speech.
I'm very curious about her. After watching Palin at the convention and reading about her, she reminds me a whole lot of Katherine Harris, which is a very frightening prospect - vindictive, selfish, lots of talk but little substance. The idea of Katherine being a heartbeat away from the presidency makes my blood run cold so Palin makes me afraid.
I'm a Republican woman and a card-carrying member of the Junior League. it just amazes me that all those blue- haired women at the convention wrapped their conservative arms around Palin and her questionable family.
The truth is, Michelle Obama is much more their type - well-spoken, modest, well-educated, successful, etc.
If Republicans were color blind then Mrs. Obama would be much more their type than Mrs. Palin.

Finally women see through the smoke screen of the infamous "O"
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 08:42 PM
expact:
How is Michelle Obama more of the Republican Womans type when she is quoted as saying "For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback."
That to me is disgusting and has absolutly nothing to do with her race just as most Republicans dont like Obama because he is the WORST thing for this country....Nothing against his race
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 08:47 PM
You mean the Michelle Obama that had been not proud of being an American?
She seemed angry like someone with a chip on her shoulder.

The average age on the floor of the Forida Delegation at the RNC was about 35 ... vibrant, young, middle age, and seasoned Republican veterans.
We will bring in the race as we always do here in Floida
And we have nothing but admiration and respect for all women reguardless of their age!
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 08:53 PM
Expat... Ms. Obama would NEVER be my type. I am color blind, but SHE is NOT! She is the biggest racist I have seen since Al Sharpton.
I was already boycotting her anyway as soon as she came out for Obama. In fact, I am boycotting any celebrity who is using their status to help Obama. No George Clooney movies for me. And no MSNBC!!!
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 08:53 PM
Jenn:
Well Said! I completly agree.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 08:54 PM
expat: you are a phony. As an Obamabot, have you done your homework? Are you ready for Monday at school?
Well you should get ready beacuse Obama is NOT going to get elected which means you kids WILL NOT be getting any Govement handouts and you WILL have to EARN a living.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 08:57 PM
Michalle Obama soft-spoken and modest???
Are we all referring to the SAME Michelle Obama?? The one who is a lawyer, hospital administrator and goes on all sorts of talk shows to drum up her husband's candidacy? The one who dresses her kinds in shrill colors totally inappropriate for little girls their age?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 08:59 PM
Expat: Nice try you smarmy liar.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 09:11 PM
All these fine comments coming from the white party of America, the Republicans. Did you notice more than one or two blacks, Hispanics, or anyone else besides lily whites on the floor? Hm?
What will you do in 2050 when white people will be a MINORITY in America?
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 09:24 PM
Sarah Palin will not give a single press interview. They are going to hide her from any real interviews or questions until the election is over.(thats when we find out how unprepared and inappropriate for national office she really is}. Thw whole Oprah story was made up by Drudge to create more false outrage. Sure looks like people are really buying it, thats why they make this bs up. I'd love to see her on Oprah or any TV interview show. But it aint gonna happen.
Posted by: George | September 06, 2008 at 09:25 PM
8:53, the fact you said you are color-blind means you believe the opposite. Same as someone who says, "it's not about money". That's a guarantee that it is. Racists hide behind their "he's liberal", "he's foreign". And as for Sarah "bulldog" Palin, she'll be yesterday's news soon. Even if McCain wins, which he probably will owing to white people's discomfort with a black, a "Hussein", and a "half-African", he will be one person in an ocean of Democrats as the Repubs will get smashed in the congressional races....
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 09:29 PM
The end for Republicans is near. ZERO members in the Senate, ZERO in the House, ZERO in the Florida Legislature. Will lose Martinez in 2010. Yes, the lily white party will be overwhelmed and beaten by the rising tide of BLACK faces, BROWN faces, and OTHER NON-WHITES. Can you feel the FEAR? LOL
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 09:33 PM
Go and get your white woman elected. It will be our turn in the future.... We are outproducing you, you have fewer children. We have more immigrants. America will be brown and black... soon......soon......
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 09:35 PM
Funny, isn't it. Oprah has spent all of this time talking about women's rights - I KNOW she would have had Hillary on - but why is she so afraid of Palin? We all know why. Women are excited about someone who has made her own way, and delivered leadership on her own terms. Maybe O just can't stand the competition.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 09:35 PM
I think all these people who are accusing all these people of being color blind ... are actually the racists. Why does everything have to be about race?
I am a proud BLACK republican women and its annoys me and breaks my heart to see all these people throwing the "race" card instead of discussing the politics. 9:24,9:25,9:29 ...Grow up
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 09:36 PM
I think Oprah handled this all wrong. She should have called their bluff and said come on the show. There is no way she would have done it. The whole farce would have been exposed. If she did go on it would not have pretty as she opposes every womens right issue there is.

Can some please send these crazy people to the hospital.
9:33 and 9:35 , you should go get your head checked because you obviously insane!
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 09:38 PM
If you think the GOP is a "white" party, put on your glasses when you see newsl clips of the convention.
And if you think it is a party of "men"
remember, it is the Democrats who passed up a well qualified woman candidate for a job for a man. Because that is EXACTLY when they did to Hillary.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 09:44 PM
The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. And unlike these foolish kids, including Barack HUSSEIN Obama he talked the talk AND walked the walk for civil rights. He sat in and he was arrested. But he persevered.
It is NOT about the color of a man's skin. It IS about the content of his charcter.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 09:46 PM
I guess the Florida Federation of Republican Women have alot of time on their hands if the best they can do is rally the base to boycott Oprah over a fake controversy. I guess when you dont support promoting real womens issues like equal pay for equal work, this is what you are left with. Sooooo typical and predictable and sad.

Hey Sista Go Sista, better put Palin on that show, sista! Met Hockey Mom down in old Anchorage, strutting her stuff on the street...She said, "Hello, hey Jo, wanna give it a go?" Oh! uh huh

Martin Luther King was not a Republican. I think you got the idea from the phony ads some right wing group has been running to....wait for it....get black voters to say "i didnt know that, I'm voting for John Mccain." The ads are insulting and untrue. King delivered 10 million black votes to Kennedy in 1960 and was a big reason he became President. He strongly supported LBJ and was a Bobby Kennedy supporter before he died.

“It is NOT about the color of a man's skin. It IS about the content of his charcter.’
Nope… for the Republicans it’s about picking some unqualified split-tail in hopes that 9-square inches of mucus membrane with a little hair on it will convince a boat load of old perverted rich white meat-spankers and their spinster cake bakers will show up and put the senile old fool in office to continue the destruction of this once Great Nation.

9:249:29, 9:33,9:35(probably all the same loser)... YOU are the racist. I don't see any posts from the republicans mentioning race. Yet, you do nothing but mention race. In fact, you sound like Hitler wanting to get rid of our race. But, hey, you have to live with yourself. I pity you. You are pathetic.
I would have no problem voting for an African American. If Condi Rice or Colin Powell were running... I would be thrilled! I am not shunning Obama because of his race. I am shunning him because he is a racist. Because he says things like:
From Dreams of My Father: 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'
From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'
From Dreams of My Father: 'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'
From Dreams of My Father: 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'
From Dreams of My Father: 'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'
And FINALLY the Most Damming one of ALL of them!!!
From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'
He hates white people and he hates America. THAT is why he will never have my vote!

So if he hates white people he must hate himself, his white sister, his war her uncle, cousins, grandparents and his mother. What a loser. I did not grow in a mixed race family so I cannot imagine the confusion that causes a child. The search for personal identity were the things he was talking about in his books and if those are indeed quotes they were of course taken out of context. I dont think either candidate is a racist and it is discusting to suggest otherwise.

don't believe the McSame/Paliar ticket.
Lie 1: The luxury state plane was not sold on Ebay, Sarah Paliar. And it was sold at a loss.
Lie 2: Paliar did support the bridge to no where. She also kept the money instead of sending it back to the feds. That's our money, Sarah paliar.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 11:07 PM
I heard about that ebay thing also. It's amazing they think they can just lie to poeple like that.
I liked Palin at first, but telling a lie to the entire country like that is ridiculous.

I agree she should send the bidge money back to Washington, and give us another rebate. I don't trust this lady AT ALL.
