Florida Republicans say no to Oprah

Oprah300 The Florida Federation of Republican Women is calling for a boycott of the Oprah Winfrey Show following reports that Oprah will not have Sarah Palin on before the election.

"Women in Florida helped build Oprah into the icon she is today," said Linda Ivell, group president. "With our Republican sisters across the nation, we have collectively enjoyed her entertaining, informative and female-driven programming as we raised our families and became more empowered as women. We are deeply disappointed in Ms. Winfrey's decision to sit out the greatest political moment in the history of women since suffrage."

Ivell, in a release sent to newspapers and other media outlets, said the effort was part of a push-back against the "liberal media" for questioning the selection of Palin as John McCain's vice presidential candidate. But Oprah's people say she does not want to use her show as a platform for any candidate. More here.

Isn't it sexist that the McCain campaign refuses to allow Palin to be interviewed? Would they refuse to allow a man v.p. to be interviewed?

Before Oprah, Palin should go do some tough interviews. She'd probably do better than McCain, who puts me to sleep.

I didn't know about that ebay lie. I did hear about bridge lie. I'm sick of the republicans and all their lies. Isn't eight years enough?

Sign the petition to boycott Oprah until she has Palin on the show!

http://www.nooprah.com/

I am bored with Sarah Palin. She is nothing new. Let's quit talking about her...

OBAMA = RACIST BABY KILLER!!!

Obama voted with Bush policies 84% of the time! So he is as much of a Republican as is McCain!!

Look at little McToady bloggin all by his lonesome self all day long cut and paste spin spin spin. Nobody listens, nobody joins him in his lies and racist ranting. Why on earth does he bother?

Please get with it. I sold it on eBay. It's eBayed. I photoshopped it. I googled it are more like transitive verbs than nouns. They describe action taken.

You should be more concerned about some dirty muslim with his liberal communist friends trying to control this country than someone eBaying an airplane!

Why is it that anytime the Obama's are called on something they said - even on tape for the whole world to see- it is "taken out of context".

I have seen the biggest racist ever on this blog... and they aren't white!

But, I really don't care. They are nothing to me.

Wow, the FFRW is really on the ball. It is the gals like you who made hre rich beyond belief and built her a platform to speak from. Talk about living your values, why did any of you watch Oprah to begin with? She has become a new age religion promoter and is now in the tank for global socialism so long as it excludes taxing her to care for the peasants.

RUN AWAY! THE DARKMAN COMMETH FOR YOUR WHITE WOMEN!

May members of the Florida Federation of Republican Women go suck a lemon! Do you boycott Schnitt or Beck or Limbaugh or Hannity or Levin for the lies and other Obama hate speak they spew every day... and NEVER allow someone to challenge their attacks on Obama's behalf? NO!

They get away with a combined more than 12 hours of free GOP political advertising - NOT reported to the FEC - every day. And you whine about what Oprah does with a single hour? Get a life you dizzy dorks! Unlike the bloviators you cheer who bastardize the electoral process... Oprah does NOT load her program with support for ANY candidate... NONE!

At least her program ignores all of them... dynamically balanced and fair... treating them all - THE SAME!

Oprah is entitled to her political and
religious views as is everyone else in
America. She endorsed Obama during one
of his rallies. She does not have to
have Palin on her show if she does not
want to.

McCain/Palin want to USE Oprah for her
national women's audience after they
have lied/smeared/slandered Obama and
not even run on the truths during this
campaign. I am surprised Oprah would
even give them the time of day!

Grow up, Republicans! You have your
24 hours news station (FOX) and all of
your conservative talk show hosts
(Laura Ingram, Ann Whatshername and the
rest) who promoted YOUR issues.

Republicans do not have the lock on
patriotism in this country or religion
with God! Palin said degrading things
about Hillary Clinton when she was
running for President. Now the
McCain/Palin camp. is yelling that
people are using "sexism" against her!
Baloney! If you are running for Pres.
or V.P., you have to be vetted like
the men and show that you are not
going to be a "WHINER" (like Palin
called Clinton).

Palin is HURTING the women's cause
and their chances of becoming either
Pres. or V.P. in the near future.
She has NO CREDENTIALS to be in the
most important posts in America. God
forbid McCain/Palin win!!! The
country is already messed up enough
from the last eight years!

4,155 dead troops and counting in the Bush/McCain War in Iraq.

Obama voted with the idiotic democrats in Congress around 97% of the time.

That's the same Congress that had an all-time history low 8% approval rating

What do you call it when a well qualified woman gets passed over for a job in favor of a far less qualified man?

The DNC Convention in Denver.

What does that show: The Democrats are only about paying lip service to "women's rights".. Watch out blacks, gays, & any other group that thinks the Ds are for you: they are for YOUR VOTE.

Rhis election sure uncovered the sexism that lurks in the ranks of Democrat bigwigs. They stole the nomination from Hillary.

This is, plain and simply, an attempt to rally the Republican base. If the Republican women were really watching Oprah over the last years they would understand that she is a woman of her word. When she endorsed Senator Obama she stated clearly that her show would not be used to interfere with the political process. Period. And she has stuck to her word. So, along comes Sarah Palin and she is supposed to say "Wow, there is a person with ovaries on the ticket so I must interview her for the good of all womankind."? No, she will not deviate from her stated approach. Oprah's show is ENTERTAINMENT not "Meet the Press".
I, as a woman look forward to Sarah making herself available for interviews . . .on the shows that are appropriate for a candidate running for the second highest office in the country. I would really like to hear her explain how she was "For the bridge to nowhere before she was against the bridge to nowhere" and where the state of Alaska spent my money that they kept for the bridge that didn't get built. And, how cute is the "I sold the governor's private jet on E-Bay" except you didn't. You listed it on E-Bay but it was sold, at a loss I might add, by a private broker. I am sure Oprah would LOVE to ask these questions but she will not, as she will not ask anything of Joe Biden or John McCain or Barack Obama.
So, be careful of what you ask for. You may just get it. There are many journalists just waiting to ask Sarah questions.

It,s her show... she could have on her show whom ever she pleases....Oprah does & has done more for the under Dog then we all know..leave her alone you don't want to watch her show then don't. there are plenty of others thast will. I'm sure Just because a woman was picked,we woman are not all going to run to the polls and vote for her, I was a Hillary suppoter but that does not mean that I'm going to vote for Palin just because she is a woman....My vote is with OBAMA
d Do
oas

7:31 You say Oprah "stated clearly that her show would not be used to interfere with the political process".

But that is a pretty disingenuous statement, since, when she had Obama on, she knew he wanted to run for President. She knew having him on would be very helpful for his candidace.

And when she had Hillary on, EVERYONE knew Hillary was going to run for President. We have all known for years.

Why is it Oprah wants to be a-political only when the subject is a Republican women? Isn't tht playing politics on the show?

Unless we are equal, our rights are not safe, because as UNequal partners in society, we are too weak todefend them.

And we CLEARLY are not equal when a well qualified woman can still be passed over for a man. That's what they did to Hillary.

At least McCain is willing to stake his own last chance to be President on a female partner.

Sarah Palin does not represent this woman!

She is under investigation for abuse of power. She lied about her support for the Bridge to Nowhere.

Lied about her record as Mayor... She left Wasilla with a debt of 1.2 Million Dollars.

Legislated "Abstinence Only" in the Alaska schools... we see how that worked out. And She legislated Creationism to be taught as real science.

This lady is totally wacked! She referred to Sen. Obama as "Sambo" and Sen. Clinton as a "B_itch".

Sarah Palin's Church: "Terrorism Against Jews is God's Judgment"

She is the equivalent of Katherine Harris or Ronda Storms. Like I said before, she is a major WAKE JOB!

I am a FL female republican and this organization does not speak for me.
I went with McCain in primary but when he picked Palin....his thought process for me became jeopardized......

Oprah can do what she wants, it's her show and she has the AMERICAN right do to as she pleases.

Sounds to me like the MCCAIN/PALIN camp wanted to capitalize on someone else's hard work in connecting with female audiences.

So if they got a "no" answer then they should look elsewhere for other alternative solutions. If they don't then they are just going to be portrayed as weak female sore sports.

And this strategy helps if they get elected?....hmmmm another indicator there is already a problem in decision making and taking rejection like "man" or in this case a "woman".

This a mute issue, the campaign is not granting interviews with Palin to any media. The greater questions is Why? Everyone else has to do these interviews she is not even going on the conservative talk show circuit of raidio and telvesion. Also, she is not being allow to meet with the Press Corp
Why?

So Oprah has nothing to do with this and its just an attack from the right

8:17 we can tell you are an Obama troll because you just copy & paste the same misleading talking points.

BTW The news media forget to tell you that between the time the Troooer Wooten incident hapened and the time Gov. Palin fired the Commissioner 2 years elapsed. An awful long time to wait to fire that Commissioner, if the excuse was failing to fire Wooten, huh?

Also BTW Wooten treatened Gov. Palin's sister and her elderly father.

8:25 (Republican Woman MFA)

9:01 Who says Palin is not granting any media interviews? Obviously, if they wanted her on Oprah, they are trying to get her "out there". And if Oprah is appropriate for Obama and Hillary, then why not Sarah Palin?

I just heard an interview (on msnbc) with a member of the McCain Campagin (when asked why Sara Palin will not grant intervews)say, ... "She is not ready, to talk to the media yet." WHAT?, that is unbelievable, yet if McCain crokes she would be the leader of the free world. But, she is not yet even ready to take questions from the Press?

Again, UNBELIEVABLE!!!

http://www.time-blog.com/swampland/2008/09/no_questions_please_were.html

"No Questions, Please. We'll Tell You What You Need To Know.

According to Nicole Wallace of the McCain campaign, the American people don't care whether Sarah Palin can answer specific questions about foreign and domestic policy. According to Wallace -- in an appearance I did with her this morning on Joe Scarborough's show -- the American people will learn all they need to know (and all they deserve to know) from Palin's scripted speeches and choreographed appearances on the campaign trail and in campaign ads.

Here's the exchange:

Wallace's bash-the-media exercise has its merits as a campaign tactic. It certainly rallies the base. But the base won't lift McCain to 50% in November. More importantly, in her smug dismissal of the media's role in asking questions of the candidates, Wallace was really showing contempt not for reporters, but for voters. I bet there are a lot of undecided voters out there who were intrigued by Sarah Palin last night, but who don't yet know enough about her -- what she believes, what she knows -- to be comfortable with the idea of her as vice president of the United States. It's important to them to know if Palin can handle herself in an environment that isn't controlled and sanitized by campaign image makers and message mavens. Maybe she can, maybe she can't. As far as Wallace is concerned, it's none of their -- or your -- business."

Republican women are too stupid to care if their leaders are qualified or not. Someone mentioned Katherine Harris and Rhonda Storms. Are all Republican women alike? It looks that way to me.

9:51 says "It's important to them to know if Palin can handle herself in an environment that isn't controlled and sanitized by campaign image makers and message mavens."

To be honest, I haven't seen any evidence that McCain can do so either. How many times have you seen him go one on one with and interviewer and answer ad-hoc questions without a script or teleprompter?

Palin serves as a useful distraction from the real issue: How mentally sharp is John McCain, really?

Sarah Palin is the right's attempt to give wingnuts like Storms and Harris legitimacy. Just like John McCain is the right's attempt to rehab the Bush failure.

“She is a skillful politician,” said Obama, “but when you’ve been taking all these earmarks when it is convenient and then suddenly you’re the champion anti-earmark person, that is not change, come on. I mean, words mean something. You can’t just make stuff up. You can’t just make stuff up.”

Making Sarah the headliner is pure genius. She will unite the sisterhood. It seems to me that the Dems like to talk about women in power but exclude them from the upper echelon. It is still the Good Old Boy network.

It's Oprah's show and she can invite or not invite anyone she pleases. However, the issue and controversy is well worth pursuing.

The McCain campaign spokesman said himself she is not doing interviews.
All she has done is give written speeches.
Why are they so afraid to let her appear for give-and-take? It's very insulting to her.
But why make such as issue of Oprah, when the vp nominee won't do any interviews at all?

10:47 on the contrary, she is willing to go on, but Oprah is afraid of detracting from Obama by giving Srah Palin airtime.

Well, who wouldn't be, with Barack HUSSEIN Obama dropping like a rock in the polls.

10:25 NEWSFLASH: Bush is not running. And McCain hates the "agents of intolerance". Read some history.

OBAMA = BABY KILLER!!

9:30, 10:25, AKA: The same superficial fool from Lakeland keeps posting about Rhonda Storm as though anyone outside her district who is not politically active would know her and Harris as though she were still relevant just because she was famous some years ago.

You can't hide that when the pedal hit the metal, the Ds passed a well qualified woman over for a man and the Rs nominated a qualified women instead.

How about encouraging women to email Oprah also?

If you are personally disappointed in Oprah's decision to not bring Sarah Palin on her show until  AFTER the election.  We are encouraging women to email Oprah and express their disappointment as she is allowing her personal political affiliations to cloud her judgement.  Women want to learn more about Sarah Palin.  The Oprah Show has been dedicated for years to educating women on topics of all interest that effect their lives.   Why stop now? Especially before such a huge and historic election that will CHANGE our country?  Shame on you Oprah!

You can email Oprah at:

didn't the republicans tells us for years that boycotts don't work?

i love oprah

There are many, many Republicans who do not agree with that last line in the 11:13 post. But there's no doubt the base is finally energized.

this election isn't over? didn't Obama already win? I thought McCain died from heart complications last month and Sarah Palin came out of the closet to be with her lipstick lesbian lover?

If Oprah did have her on the show, and asked any kind of meaningful or tough question, she'd instantly be accused of being part of the liberal media, or trying to help Obama.
Since when was that show such a big deal for politicians anyway?
Palin should on some news shows this weekend letting people know she can handle the media without a script.

Palins Churchs True View of Jews

Are Evangelicals Really Sold on Palin?
Saturday, Sep. 06, 2008
By AMY SULLIVAN

speakers charge that violence against Israelis is divine punishment for the failure of Jews to accept Jesus, as happened at one of Palin's churches two weeks ago

A woman in a hot air balloon realizes she is lost.

She lowers her altitude and spots a man fishing from a boat below.

She shouts to him, 'Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am.'

The man consults his portable GPS and replies, 'You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground
elevation of 2346 feet above sea level. You are at 31
degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.0 9 minutes west longitude.

She rolls her eyes and says, 'You must be supporting John McCain!'

'I am,' replies the man. 'How did you know?'

'Well,' answers the balloonist, 'everything you tell me is
technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you're not much help to me.

The man smiles and responds, 'You must be for Obama.'

'I am,' replies the balloonist. 'How did you know?'

'Well,' says the man, 'You don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are, due to
a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you
have no idea how to keep, and now you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you
were in before we met, but, somehow, now it's my fault.'
