Gus Bilirakis vulnerable?
That's what Democratic Congressional District 9 challenger Bill Mitchell suggests, touting an internal poll showing Republican Bilirakis with 45 percent support and Mitchell with 25 percent. Not exactly a horse race on the surface, but the Mitchell folks argue it's a sign of Bilirakis' weakness.
"This is a clear sign of Bilirakis’ vulnerability, as on Election Day most undecideds typically vote for the challenger," pollster Margie Omero of Momentum Analysis writes in a memo. "In fact, these undecided voters lean Democratic. They are more likely to self-identify as Democrats (46 percent) than as Republicans (37 percent). And they are more likely to vote for the Democratic candidate in the generic ballot question (42 percent Democrat, 34 percent Republican, 24 percent undecided/other)."

Apparently Bill Mitchell's team has lost touch with reality... or is, ahem, "self medicating" a bit too much.
Gus wins this one 54-46 or more.

Quick, tell Phyllis Busansky! She can run against Bilirackis again simultaneous with her run against Buddy Johnson, while she prepares to run against Mel Martinez in the 2010 Senate race.

So what is the point?
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 04:38 PM

first funny thing rockabilly has said in a while
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 05:54 PM
a democrat internal poll showing him down 45-25, and he is saying this is positive for him??? Moron.
the leaners are leaning toward the challenger 42-34, so bilirakis wins 55-38, with 7% not leaning, according to this poll
Not even close.

Who in the world comes up with this stuff? Bilirakis is up by 20 and somehow this is a bad thing? Please give me a break.

That's the problem when you surround yourself with "Yes" men and women. You cannot get the correct read outside the fishbowl you live in and when you do you will not accept it. I think they call that "denial" or something to that affect(effect). Gus wins by a 58 - 42 margin.

Busansky may run for Senate in 2010 but it will not be against Martinez. You can stick a fork in him come the Republican Primaries if he is stupid enough to run at all.

I can tell you several places Bilirakis is even more vulnerable.
1) He sends out a high quality print from his office 2.5 months before election day to allegedly remind voters that he even exists. On this mailing he talks about cutting tax waste, yet the mailing he sends out is paid for with TAX DOLLARS. What a convenient legal loophole that I think most voters can see through.
2) His lack of regard for Veterans. You can read about that here: http://www.donttreadonvets.com
3) His involvement in the Adele Fletcher criminal scandal which you can read about here: http://www.adeleremembered.info
If these things aren't enough to sink the incumbent, then people aren't paying attention.
Forget Mitchell, if you want a REAL candidate have a look at Johnny K.

Gus is a Freshman Rep who is still acting like it. Voting no yesterday due to "not being in the discussions". Are you kidding me?

On Nov. 4th, I will vote against my Reps that voted NO on the Economic Rescue Bill. I think I've had a better understanding this past week of this bill's implications to Main Street than my Reps do that voted NO. These Reps were either asleep at the wheel or just fundamentally have a different understanding of the markets from me.

I am voting for change this year and to me change means no demorcrat or republican because when the apples on the flor are rotten what do you do. Go to the tree and get a fresh one. I found an independent running in district 9 his name is John Kalimnios and you know what I did. I loged on to his web site and checked him out .I Liked what I saw and donated 50 bucks to him thats all I had . And atleast I can say I tried and am willing to do anything for change.

That Adele stuff is a lot of misleading slander. Read the court file that is public record. You'll see. Bill Mitchell's being sued by his own party for the same sort of scurrilous attack he made against his opponent, John Dicks, in the democratic primary.
The vets comment is equally absurd. Mike was known for taking care of the military and Gus is no different. Obviously he hasn't. This isn't about Gus. This is about Bill Mitchell losing in the polls and what kind of ugly behavior he'll stoop to in order to win.
Gus on the other hand is a decent, hard working, honest guy who fights fair. This Mitchell guy is a *piece of work* to put it mildly.
But, yeah... agreed on Martinez. I have zero use for that waste of air. I'd seriously consider voting Democrat before I'd vote for him again.
