Hillary coming to Tampa, Orlando
Vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin may not be coming to Florida Monday, after all. But that other lipstick-wearing political rock star, Hillary Clinton, will be campaigning in Tampa and Orlando Monday for Obama. Details on time and place have not been announced.
“We are thrilled to have Senator Clinton back in the Sunshine State to stump for Barack Obama. They share a common vision that will get this country back on track and restore our nation’s promise to middle-class families that the American Dream is within reach for anyone willing to put in the hard work,” Florida State Director Steve Schale said. “John McCain’s more-of-the-same Bush tax plan leaves 101 million taxpayers with no relief. We look forward to Sen. Clinton discussing the Obama tax relief plan, which will grant a $1,000 rebate to help families pay for the cost of gas and provide a real tax cut for 95 percent of all Americans.”

The vetting process was completely thorough and I'm grateful for the results." - John McCain
As the true vetting of Sarah Palin continued yesterday, we learned more about John McCain's pick for vice-president. Here's a recap of what we learned about the person John McCain thinks should be a 72-year-old heartbeat away from the presidency:
She was involved in yet another ethical scandal, this time relating to her firing of a longtime local police chief, who "says he was fired because he stepped on the toes of Palin's campaign contributors, including bar owners and the National Rifle Association."
Although the McCain campaign has stressed her command of the Alaska National Guard as "experience," she never issued a single order.
Watch CNN's Campbell Brown call McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds out on his spin on this and more here.
Video surfaced of Sarah Palin at her church just three months ago, claiming that regardless of what policies are enacted, it doesn't mater if "people of Alaska’s heart isn’t right with God."
Palin also claimed that American soldiers have been sent to Iraq "on a task that is from God."
She can't "fix" Washington when she's played the Washington game so well:
Wasilla had received few if any earmarks before Palin became mayor. She actively sought federal funds -- a campaign that began to pay off only after she hired a lobbyist with close ties to Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), who long controlled federal spending as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee. He made funneling money to Alaska his hallmark.
Alaska, by the way, ranked #1 in earmarks last year.
She lied--and continues to lie without shame--regarding her alleged "opposition" to the Bridge to Nowhere.
A 62 page opposition research document from Alaska was released, filled with strange tidbits like the fact that she presided over a wedding at Wal-Mart ("it was so Wasilla") and that she once "founded a company called "Rouge Cru" -- what she called a "classy" way to say redneck -- in case her political career didn't work out a few years ago."
Just two weeks ago, she sat in the pews while her pastor delivered an anti-Jewish sermon.
Yesterday morning, we learned that the Troopergate report was due out on the eve of the election, October 31st. Yesterday afternoon, we learned that the investigation would probably be delayed because the star witness suddenly decided not to testify.
Two days ago, longtime chair of the AIP, a secessionist party, stated that Palin attended their 1994 Convention: "Palin was at the convention in 1994. She was there." Yesterday, he said he couldn't remember.
Speaking of the secessionist party (and the fact that is has been confirmed that Sarah Palin's husband has been a member for almost a decade), we learned that the FBI did not conduct a background check on Palin.
The McCain camp worked the refs before Palin's speech, claiming that the media were being sexist by asking questions. Meanwhile, in the reality-based world, McCain's National Co-Chair stated that the press coverage has been "completely fair."
Palin isn't helping McCain in the polls. In fact, it's Obama who is enjoying a Palin bounce.
All that, in just 24 hours.
But members of the press, John McCain is telling you to back off asking questions, so you should just trust his judgment.
Because clearly, from what we have learned in just the last five days, judgment is something McCain has by the bucketful

6:22, How many scandals has History Clinton been in? I probably need to take my shoes off to count them, so stop before I start. And don't talk about the vetting process either, because Barry didn't even talk to History Clinton about being VP. What kind of decision making does that show on his part?

One of the most ridiculous comments I saw today was someone telling everyone that Palin had pink toenail polish on last night. How pathetic the left-wing media is becoming.
When will they tell us that Barack Obama wears red toenail polish and Michelle wears none????

Q - What do you call it when a well qualified woman is passed over for a job in favor of a far less qualified man?
A - The DNC Convention in Denver.

Read the new poll by that bastion of "fairness", Obama's CBS:
The presidential race between Barack Obama and John McCain is now even at 42 percent, according to a new CBS News poll conducted Monday-Wednesday of this week.
This is in contrast to a poll conducted last weekend, where the Obama-Biden ticket led McCain-Palin by eight points, 48 percent to 40 percent.
Looks like the Messiah is losing ground to me. And the full impact of the Repub. Convention and Palin is not even factored in!!!! Sorry Obama Toad, you are wrong.

The McCain/Palin/Bush economy-a disaster continued. No-way-no-how-no McCain.
Stocks tank — Dow ends day nearly 350 down
Associated Press
updated Thursday, September 4, 2008
NEW YORK - Dejected investors sent stocks plunging Thursday, hurtling the Dow Jones industrials down more than 340 points after retailers and the government added to a mountain of bad economic news and devastated hopes for a late-year recovery.
The market was already nervous as it waited for the government to release its August employment report on Friday. So news from the nation’s major retailers that shoppers curtailed their spending last month due to higher gas and food prices came as a heavy blow.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world’s largest retailer, beat expectations because of its big discounts, but many teen retailers and luxury chains did poorly, a sign that consumers are spending mostly on essentials and putting discretionary buying on hold.
Meanwhile, the Labor Department said new applications for unemployment insurance rose by 15,000 last week from the previous week. That broadly missed expectations for a fourth-straight week of declines, heightening worries that the average American — already feeling the effects of the weak housing market — will have even less means to spend.

Even Chalie knows to stay away from the losing "right-wing-fringe" McCain/Palin ticket. Crist has got great political instincts all can agree whether you like his governing style or not. He knows how to win elections and back winners. Which means he knows how to spot the losers. The last thing he needs heading into a pivotal pre-election year is to be associated with the "right-wing-fringe" losing McCain/Palin ticket and wont be attending this fiasco in the making. I imagine this distancing is intentional as Charlie can see the loss coming.

Obama as a Community Organizer--what a joke!! Obama's organizing was of rather a different sort. He organized mostly radical types to promote further rabble rousing in the community. Quite a different community organizer. Moreover, he mobilised taxpayer funds for his own salary in order to organize. There generally isn't any accountability for this type of "work" and the funding. Lastly, perhaps you should read up on how he helped his friend, former domestic terrorist Ayers, mismanage $49 million that was supposed to improve Chicago inner city schools. The end result was zero improvement and no record to show what the money was spent on. This is really no surprise, we know that government bureaucrats love nothing better than to spend other peoples' money in order give themselves a feeling of accomplishment. That is all that Obama is interested in. Like Palin said, he is not interested in the welfare of the country and I say he is only interested in his own ego and rise to fame
Posted by: A Real Community Organizer | September 04, 2008 at 08:51 PM
Obama was a community organizer right after he graduated college and just before law school. Didnt you have a first job? I find it admirable that he chose as a young man to try to help others. Palin worked at Dairy Queen, are you going to hold that against her. Or the fact she was a sports reporter. Or she went to 6 different colleges in 5 years. ....etc
Posted by: Frank | September 04, 2008 at 09:08 PM
Why does Palin hate people who perform community service?
I liked McCain until last night. I can't stand this vicious woman. As a republican I think I'll vote for Barr.

I spoke with a friend today who was in Iraq in 2006. He said he watched part of the convention but was so turned off by all the pandering over the military he stopped watching. No one ever spoke about a plan to get out of Iraq.
Posted by: | September 04, 2008 at 09:51 PM
Palin came up with the taser claim three years after she says it happened. She should have called the police at the time. So she's either guilty of failing to report a crime, or she made the story up.
Either way, she shouldn't have used her office to get him fired.
Posted by: | September 04, 2008 at 09:53 PM
She didnt fire her brother in law. She fired the public official who refused to cave in to her pressure to do so. She apparently thinks the state government exists to do her personal favors. Others disagree and call it abuse of power. She later lied about the whole affair and claimed she fired him for other reasons. Unfortunately she forgot about 7 emails she previously sent to the guy threatening his job. Not too bright...

Making nasty remarks about Alaska or "okies" or small town Americans or people who run small businesses (yes, sometimes they fail) isn't going to win the libs any friends or do much to "bring us together" as the Democrats say they intend to do under Obama. When the libs talks about "bringing us together" or "bipartisanship" it means adhering to their terms and their agenda. McCain crossed the aisle and worked on legislation with Feingold and Kennedy. What does that history of bipartisanship get him now? Squat.

Yeah, the GOP water carriers are in full throat. They've got a collective stiffy for a corrupt governor of a meaningless state. The reason she belittles Obama is because it takes brains and diplomacy to build communities and alliances. It's not just "ready, aim, fire" - though that pretty much is all Republicans understand.
We Democrats are NOT scared. In fact, we've had 8 years of lessons from Karl Rove and the GOP is about to have its medicine force-fed down its throat. Hope you all choke on it. Cus you all know what payback is.

Actually, this was Obama talking about one of Palin's nonsensical attacks...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SwwO00aWqM
btw, you Republican types should be wary of who you prop up as your choice to entrust 300 million lives with...
As Governor, Sarah Palin ran a state with a population about the same as Pinellas County... If you exclude everyone living north of Gulf to Bay Blvd.
The city Sarah Palin was part-time mayor of had less than 1/3 the population of Plant City.
Sarah Palin became part-time mayor of Wasilla her first term with a whopping 600 votes, and her second term with roughly 925. lol... Heck, my little sister got more votes when she ran for Student Council President of her high school last year, and she lost!
I'm sorry, but what does it say about John McCain's judgment when this is the singlemost qualified citizen he could find out of a nation of 300+ million?
What does it say about his ability to change Washington, when he can't even change his own party's campaign tactics, or policy agenda?
Most importantly, what does it say about his integrity when he tells America tonight that he is above the partisan fray, not even a week after he blatantly kowtowed to special interests on the rightmost fringe of the Republican Party? For a man claiming he'll govern for all Americans, he and his party sure have a funny way of showing it.
Posted by: Think for yourself, they are lying | September 05, 2008 at 03:07 AM
McCain's message is just a continuation of the same old policies that got our nation into the mess we're in right now. His position on the war is especailly disturbing. He tried to paint Iraq as a patriotic effort in national self-defense, a response to the events of 9-11, which it most emphatically was not. All he did was act as an apologist for corporate greed, and he gave Americans who supported the war a way to avoid owning up that they were duped by George Bush. Let's admit the truth folks, Bush lied to us. Now "Maverick Wannabe" McCain, who's accepted the Bush endorsement and accepted the Big Oil campaign money, wants you to believe he'll do things differently?
First, He doesn't deserve the chance. We need a new direction, and at this point in time with DEMS soon to have a controlling majority in Congress, only a fresh new Democratic adminstration can bring that.
Second, McCain is, to be honest, not going to upset the GOP base. Many of them actually think Bush has done a great job, because they personally have lined their pockets while the rest of us have gone to war or sacrificed so that they could do so. McCain will not dare to offer anything new; we've already seen that in his flip-flop to the Bush view on all major issues, and his choice of a VP who mirrors Bush in almost every way.
Make no mistake, McCain is still McSame. We can't afford to continue The Great Mistake.

How about the fact that the Alaska Police Union announced yesterday that Palin's staff improperly obtained a copy of her ex-brother-in-laws personnel file in order to use the information in it as ammunition in it's efforts to get him fired? I never said anything about abortion. I happen to be one of the many Democrats who are opposed to abortion, not to the degree Ms. Palin is, but opposed nonetheless. What I was saying is that it's ok for her to bring her kids into the campaign when it suits her, but then expect the media to "respect their privacy" when the issue is something that she would rather not discuss. I don't care what the issue is. It could be the D that Piper got on her Social Studies report, for all I care. I was just pointing out the hypocrisy and you made my point for me. Why do you people always have to jump on the wedge issues? Just proves, the Republicans want nothing to do with uniting America. They only want to unite the people that look like them against everyone else!

Bryan, not to rain on your parade, but let me quote you and see if you want to clarify it before I rip into you. You said, "I happen to be one of the many Democrats who are opposed to abortion, not to the degree Ms. Palin is, but opposed nonetheless." Uh, there is death and then there is life. There is no in between. It's cut and dry so I would like to know how you can be for abortion without being for abortion. Is that a new Democrat position they just invented? Please explain what you mean.

The new star is maverick reformer Sarah Palin.

“.....I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House and Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002.”
(This says it all)

The single greatest thing about Palin. It is very likely she will eventually put the Clinton dynasty on ice, hopefully forever. Palin is fresh, real, has a functioning brain that understands lifes' realities. Now if only we could turn Hillary in an oil rig drill bit she would have a use. I don't want a hand out from the dems, I need it but I don't want it. I do want someone who will stand squarely in the way of Oil spiraling out of control. Delaying the inevitable just makes no sense none. We must use oil to bridge the gap regardless of how large the gap maybe.
Anyone with functioning brain cells knows we need to tap every resource we can to lower usage of energy. Anyone with functioning cells understands it takes time to find and drill and place into the marketplace. How much time who cares? It is what it will be. What I do know is that everyday Hillary,BHO,Reid,Pelosi,Gore and the rest of the liberal left wing Marxists stand there doing nothing it will take another day. Unlike the above enemies of the state I can add. While you wait to vote try doing some research. You gas bill is the least of the problems. You have some choices when it comes to filling your vehicle. You have no choice when it comes to food and tens of thousands of products you need to survive in this world as it is currently constructed. Its your choice people vote the dems in and lose your life as you have learned to know it. It has been said that CHANGE IS NOT A PLAN, AND HOPE IS NOT A STRATEGY. A vote for Odumblo is not getting what you hope for. Take that to the bank, you will have less money than ever to take to the bank.

Why did Obama skip over Hillary for Mr. credit card supporter, Biden?
Yet Hillary seems still willing to iron their shirts. Obama would win easily if he'd picked HRC for VP.

It's amazing to hear people trumpet things about Sarah Palin that are literally the opposite of what her record reveals about her.
My father's side of my family has lived in Alaska for 23 years in Ckickaloon (about 30 miles farther out of Anchorage, on the same state road as Wasilla). I've heard for years from my staunchly Republican family the kind of antics and corruption Sarah Palin engages in. (they are fiscal conservatives, anti-welfare state, socially libertarian, just like most Alaskans, as well as myself)
When she took over as part-time mayor of Wasilla, it had a balanced budget, and in fact a surplus large enough to warrant a property tax cut for all homeowners. When she left office a few years later, a small town of only 6700 people was left with $22 million in debt and an annual budget deficit in excess of $1 million dollars. She nearly ran the city into bankruptcy, and anyone who lives up there will tell you as much.

Something I just read about on the Associate Press... Palin was a total pothead up until just a few years ago. Yes, this means that she was a pothead when she had children to raise.
No wonder her daughter ran out and got knocked up at 16. Her husband was too busy getting drunk (2 DUIs), and she was too busy getting high!

I hope hilary is successful. Mr. Obama must be elected. I know that my socialist ideas of wealth redistribution being glossed over by nearly all media outlets will be implemented only by a man with the vision that Obama has. Anyone with the audacity to make more that $250,000 should be punished for making the rest of us feel bad about ourselves. Take the excellence away from the achievers and give it to those in need. This must be done by force of law.
