Excellent speech by a true American hero. He is reaching out to everyone in this speech.
I'm very impressed!!
Posted by: Candice | September 04, 2008 at 11:44 PM
Obama & McCain's final speeches were both good in the fact they went into details on how they want to change America.
But the "fun attacking ones" were Sarah Palin's & Hillary's.
Let the campaign & "attack" ads begin.

HIS SPEECH MADE ME PROUD TO BE AMERICAN.
Welcome to the White House John McCain.
Country First!
Posted by: Country First! | September 04, 2008 at 11:53 PM
John McCain showed himself to be a Maverick tonight. Willing to have democrats, republicans & everyone in his administration as long as it move the country forward prosperously.
He is truly COUNTRY FIRST.

Tonight's speech was a declaration of independence by John McCain. Wow what a speech.
John McCain & Sarah Palin are going into Washington to take it back for the people.
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 12:08 AM
McCain reads his speeches like a 7th-grader in a Lion's Club essay contest....and not the contest winner, either!
He has nothing...no charisma, no leadership, no new ideas. An event from 40 years ago is the only thing he has to stand on, and right now in America we need a whole lot more than that.
Posted by: Becky | September 05, 2008 at 12:11 AM
"Stand up and fight"
"Stand up and fight"
"Stand up and fight"
I loved the speech.
Posted by: Jim Meyer | September 05, 2008 at 12:14 AM
Becky,
I am not looking for someone to be my President that is all show and no substance.
Fireworks, huge stadiums & fake Greek columns do not impress me.
Posted by: Jim Meyer | September 05, 2008 at 12:16 AM
I guess I was watching a different speech. Mccain looked old, stumbled alot and showed he does not have the energy or stamina for the job. This places further emphasis on his choice for Vp.
Posted by: Bev | September 05, 2008 at 12:17 AM
No real attacks on Barack Obama tonight just letting Americans what they have planned for America.
I really liked it.
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 12:19 AM
I heard John McCain speak of choice a few times, once for education and a choice for parents to send their kids to private scholl and another reference to choice which I cannot remember. I wonder if he will allow choice for women when it comes to abortion? I resoect this man tremendously and believe his love for this country uns very deep. I think the world of him, I just wish he did not pick Palin and did not cave in to the right wing.
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 12:20 AM
Most of the t.v. pundits loved it.
on cable news now.
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 12:20 AM
12:20 am,
Are you kidding? Polling & almost every measure shows America love Sarah Palin. She is the hottest thing in politics right now.
Obama is yesterdays news. Even entertainment t.v. are covering her now.
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 12:23 AM
Anyone noticed that McCain's stage was in the audience while Obama's stage was high above looking down on them.
Looking down on Americans?
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 12:35 AM
Very inspirational speech coming from a true American hero.
He has won my vote. McCain/Palin
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 12:40 AM
The R party gave the nomination to McCain because it is extremely difficult for the same party to win three consecutive terms. It is better for Romney to wait. McCain is pulling all of the stops out. He feels he is the only R that can win. He has the plan. The public vetting of Palin with all its foibles, up staged Obama and gang. Obama is starting to look like yesterdays news.
Posted by: mrclean | September 05, 2008 at 12:58 AM
More of the same........
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 01:01 AM
Becky,
he had one good idea and that was pick Sarah Palin.
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 01:06 AM
Mrclean, is that what all you loser say or just you? This is also why Hillery got out early as well.
Everybody's who could have won are going to wait 4 years to then win.
Maybe Sarah Palin could pick Romney to be her VP in 4 years.
Good job toolbag
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 01:11 AM
How many choices do women need BEFORE they take responsibility for the choices they made that lead them to an abortion?
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 01:14 AM
Barak Obama, all sizzle NO steak...
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 01:17 AM
Lots of empty seats there.
Not nearly as full as the Democratic convention.
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 01:22 AM
Hill lost because R voted in D primaries to knock her out. She didn't put Obama in his place from the get go and Ms Ferrara was right. The Kennedy clan had it in for the Clinton's for some reason. The Clinton's could have won if they got meaner sooner, well of course in a nice way. She may work to undermine Obama so she would have a second shot in '12.
Posted by: mrclean | September 05, 2008 at 01:24 AM
The DNC convention was in a Stadium. This RNC convention was in a renovated former bowling ally.

Old Fart/Young Tart 2008
Posted by: Old Fart/Young Tart 2008 | September 05, 2008 at 01:28 AM
McCain's message is just a continuation of the same old policies that got our nation into the mess we're in right now. His position on the war is especailly disturbing. He tried to paint Iraq as a patriotic effort in national self-defense, a response to the events of 9-11, which it most emphatically was not. All he did was act as an apologist for corporate greed, and he gave Americans who supported the war a way to avoid owning up that they were duped by George Bush. Let's admit the truth folks, Bush lied to us. Now "Maverick Wannabe" McCain, who's accepted the Bush endorsement and accepted the Big Oil campaign money, wants you to believe he'll do things differently?
First, He doesn't deserve the chance. We need a new direction, and at this point in time with DEMS soon to have a controlling majority in Congress, only a fresh new Democratic adminstration can bring that.
Second, McCain is, to be honest, not going to upset the GOP base. Many of them actually think Bush has done a great job, because they personally have lined their pockets while the rest of us have gone to war or sacrificed so that they could do so. McCain will not dare to offer anything new; we've already seen that in his flip-flop to the Bush view on all major issues, and his choice of a VP who mirrors Bush in almost every way.
Make no mistake, McCain is still McSame. We can't afford to continue The Great Mistake.
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 04:20 AM
Lemieux is either dumb or lying.
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 06:44 AM
McCain says he doesn't work for a political party?
Then maybe we won't work for him.
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 06:46 AM
I absolutley agree with Senator Mc Same ..We must remove the cronies is Washington that have ruined America,Gov Palin says the Supreme Court is misdirected givin rights to terrorists,Change must come the low life cronyism lobbyists on k street and crooks must be kicked out of power .He wants to get rid of the Republickan party..I say good idea! Its called Barak Obama your neext president.Senator you dont have any credability!.
Posted by: Jason Straight | September 05, 2008 at 07:25 AM
He talks a good game about reaching across the aisle and a new republican party. But - give him an hour. He and his cronies will be back to the negative stuff right away. Palin couldn't even wait that long. Toaky Lieberman will say whatever he thinks is needed at the moment. Giuliani will continue his lying, cynical crap. And McCain will continue spending and war until Halliburton and Bush say, "ok - that's enough."

OBAMA = BABY KILLER!!!!
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 08:05 AM
I thought his speech was great.
Posted by: NObama08 | September 05, 2008 at 08:08 AM
Tired old man using tired old cliches. Alternated between painful and boring.
Something's wrong with the process when this guy is our candidate. Let's be honest: He sucked last night, and he isn't a real Republican.
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 08:24 AM
I changed the channel and watched 'No Country for Old Men.'
Posted by: Cormac | September 05, 2008 at 08:31 AM
Obama/Biden---Business as usual!
McCain/Palin---Good change is coming!!
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 08:36 AM
Obama will bring change....Higher taxes, less personal freedom and the end of our great country...taking us to the third world status envisioned by Obama's socialist friend, Soros!
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 08:38 AM
The only thing missing from these speeches was that “Community Volunteers and Organizers” are responsible for 9/11… and don’t vote for the n-ger!
“Republican Party, the real terrorists!”
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 08:44 AM
Anybody watch Obama stumble on O'Reilly? Obama would be a roadblock in cafeteria line in trying to decide what to eat. And then he would put one of everything on his tray and try to get the people around him pay for it.
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 08:52 AM
The choices we have in this Election are becoming much more clear since the Conventions.
Obama (The Wimp) and Biden (The Bloviator)
Versus
McCain (The Fighter) and Palin (The Doer)
Posted by: Going With The Fighter | September 05, 2008 at 08:58 AM
Unlike 8:38 I pay my taxes and dont beach about it. Why do you republicons hate your country so much you would run it into the ground?
Traitors.
Posted by: Thorny | September 05, 2008 at 09:03 AM
B-O-R-I-N-G!!!!
God help us if he is elected! I can't take it if I have to hear him speak for 4 years!
Posted by: Gretchen | September 05, 2008 at 09:05 AM
8:44 We made a mistake in 1992 with Clinton.
Clinton played while New York, DC and Shanksville burned.
Due to his non-response to Radical Islam attacks, at home and abroad, our enemy was emboldened; hence 9/11.
So no, it wasn’t community organizers; it was our philandering do-nothing to protect America Commander in Chief, Bill Clinton that was responsible.
We need a strong proven leader who will stand up to rouge nations that threaten our security and world peace to lead us. Not another appeaser that is more interested in his next career move.

8:58 missed Billy O's sexy phone call.
After his "interview" last night he states
"Obama's no whimp"
Of course he's a lying sack of sheet but even a pathological lier has to tell the truth sometime.
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 09:07 AM
Clinton made my hens stop lying and turned the goats milk sour. OH the horror. I wet myself.
Posted by: Daves not here | September 05, 2008 at 09:13 AM
I watched Obama on O'Reilly. First conclusion was that Obama had large cajones for even agreeing to the interview. Nothing to gain, much to lose, with an interviewer who plainly has an agenda and is obviously the smartest man in the history of the world because he has the "right" answer to every problem the world has ever faced. Wonder if McCain will appear on theshow for an interview? But by comparing the questions and issues discussed on the show -- like how to deal with Iran's nuclear desires, would you send troops into Pakistan if they do not pursue Bin Laden on their own, and getting Iraqi elected officials to start standing up for themselves -- by comparing those issues to choosing food in a cafeteria line you have proven yourself a simpleton. Go back to your jello.

McCain is McCain. It was a good speech...not a great speech, but a good speech. He is not Obama or Palin, but he's proved he doesn't have to be.
Like him or not, he always tells you what he thinks and what he truly believes. You can believe in your heart that this man truly wants what is best for America and believes in America.
Let's face it...business as usual has to change in Washington and you can't truly change Washington with 2 Democrat Senators who are so deeply entrenched in Washington politics and the corruption that goes along with it.
As he said, true "change is coming" to Washington if you elect McCain and Palin. People are tired of the Tax and Spend Democrats and the Borrow and Spend Republicans. Each side panders to you in order to buy your vote, by bringing home the bacon to fund this or that project, with no regard for the taxpayers.
It's time to grab Washington by the throat and give it a good shake.
McCain-Palin 2008!
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 09:20 AM
McSame/MILFwannabe ’08! “Continuing the Destruction of our Nation!”
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 09:28 AM
It's time to turm corporate America upside down and give them a good shake. Let's empty their pockets so we can get back all that corporate welfare money the Republicans have given them, most notably, the Exxon-Mobil War in Iraq. McSame is in bed with Big Oil since he agreed to the Bush endorsement and took all the big Oil campaign money. He's not for change; he's not even a different kind of conservative - he's just Bush III
Posted by: McCain = More of the McSame. Don't believe his lies. | September 05, 2008 at 09:29 AM
When will Democrats realize that Hillary lost when Howard Dean was elected DNC Chairman and conspired with the Obama campaign to have her defeated?
Posted by: | September 05, 2008 at 09:30 AM
I think he's more Bush first, voting with him 90 percent of the time as the country suffered. Any plan on the economy? No. A plan for health care? No. A plan to bring the troops home from Iraq? No.
McCain has a difficult task. After Republican Bush leading the country into a ditch with Republican McCain's assistance, he has to convince Americans that the same party that led us there is the one best equipped to lead us out. That's something that you just can't fix with lipstick.
