Meet the winner and loser of the week
WINNER OF THE WEEK: State GOP Chairman Jim Greer managed to maneuver through national party leaders trying to block Florida Republicans from having a full delegation at the convention and a hurricane washing out the first night of the national convention and still have lots of delegates praising the way he organized Florida's role in the convention. He also generated some national Buzz about him being a contender for chairman of Republican National Committee. November results are what matter most, of course, and we'll be interested if anyone steps up to challenge him for re-election in Jan.
LOSER OF THE WEEK: Once again the Florida Supreme Court dashed Jeb Bush's efforts to put in place a broad school voucher program in Florida. After the court knocked down two controversial Constitutional amendment proposals dealing with vouchers, it's unclear where he goes from there. The legislature's appetite for vouchers isn't great.

Greer indeed was one of the winners of the week. His hard work resulted in Florida seating all of its delegates at the convention. Moreover, his move to put all women on the floor for Palin's speech was a great move.
Even though Governor Crist missed out on his opportunity to give a speech on national television...he is a winner this week too. He showed great leadership this week by staying in Florida and leading our efforts to prepare and respond to storms.

Gotta say it Greer did a Great job with getting all of us on the floor and his take charge approch to the convention showed all of the state committee and delegates what a good leader he is, Thanks Chairman!

As a member of the state committee and a member of the Florida delegation, who, by the way, didn't vote for Greer the first time, I was very happy with him at this convention and plan to support him in January if he decides to run again.
Let's win in November!

As a RPOF county Chairman, Greer is the first State Chairman who is really running the party, which is just what we need. His staff loves him and he's always making sure the State committee members are treated right. If Chairman Greer decides to run again ,only a fool would challenge him.

RPOF Chair? OK. RNC Chair - who is Greer to get a job like that? And won't it be up to McCain?
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 05:32 PM
Seeing what Jimmy has done in Florida would make him a good choice for RNC Chairman, this guy has put the RPOF on the map.Plus he does not put up with much BS which is just what we need in a GOP Boss.

This was my second convention, compared to NY this one was tops. Greer did a good job keeping us motivated and I must agree he really is the person in charge. Seeing CJJ sitting in the back of the group made me think of the big difference between the two, Greer is what we needed!.

Watching Chairman Greer help his elderly mother to her seat on the convention floor and then kiss her forehead, told me alot about this man. I'm very proud our Party is lead by this Gentleman and I along with many others will support him in the future.

Ok, Greer is doing a good job, but does he need to promote Crist every time he open's his mouth, he even mentioned Charlie when he gave his Delegate vote remarks. Looks like Greer has a big future in politics, but he may want to unhitch his wagon from Crist a little.

07:05pm that will never happen, Greer ( AKA Crist's enforcer) worships the Governor and no matter what, will never tell the Emperor he has no clothes! To bad too Greer would have made a good Chairman.

Crist=Greer
Greer=Crist
One Term for both!!!
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 07:52 PM
I was at the GOP convention in St. Paul with the Florida Republican Party. RPOF was great, GREAT!.
Thank you to Jim Greer and all of the RPOF staff, many thanks.

I wasn't too sure about Greer at first. I thought he was a little too camera happy. But, he won me over this past week. He did an amazing job. And getting us women on the floor was incredible! When I arrived, I was happy to be there, but when I left... I was psyched!
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 09:06 PM
But we just gotta have vouchers. Otherwise how will we live up to our promise of a world class education for "some" students.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 09:52 PM
Wait, did I miss something? The Republicans were planning to deny the hardworking voters of Florida (some of them undoubtedly mothers with pitbulls) their full voting rights at the convention? We will not stand for this. The only way to show the Republicans not to treat us like this again is to vote for Obama in November. This slight, this despicable and insulting slight will not stand. We are the Party of Lincoln! Which means we're for voting and freedom and stuff like that that came some years after Lincoln.

Jeb has always been a loser. His amendment proposals show how stupid he is. And his brother shows how pathetic all the Bush's are.
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 11:24 PM
Wow, looks like Delmar and Jeremy are up late blogging on a Saturday night. We know you guys are the Chairman's butt-boys but this is a little much. Don't you two have anything better to do...
Posted by: | September 06, 2008 at 11:49 PM
Vote Obama/Biden. If McSame wins, this will give Jeb the idea that the citizens of our nation don't hold the Bush family responsible for the ongoing degradation of our once great nation. He'll be back in our faces before we know it and smirking just like his imbecile brother that we're ignorant enough to forget the Bush family is for flushing us down the toilet.

11:58 - NEWSFLASH - Bush isn't running.
You don't vote for a party, you vote for a person.
Otherwise, only racists would vote Democrat, since it was the solid DEMOCRAT South which wanted to keeps slaves slaves and brought us decades of JIM CROW Laws.

If Greer is doing such a bang up job how come Chuck Crist's poll numbers are in a free fall and the R's are losing more seats in the legislature?
You guys are legends in your own minds!
Posted by: terminator | September 07, 2008 at 10:52 AM
As usual Terminator...you are wrong on both counts.
Posted by: | September 07, 2008 at 11:50 AM
After what Greer has done to improve the RPOF in the last 2 years, anyone who would think of running against him would be a FOOL, but then again there's lots of fools in the local REC's. Greer was the right guy at the right time to lead the Fl GOP. Thanks charlie!
Posted by: | September 07, 2008 at 12:35 PM
12:35...the same goes for anyone thinking about running against Crist.
Posted by: | September 07, 2008 at 12:41 PM
Greer=Great Leadership!!!
REC Member who was a Delegate at the convention.
Posted by: | September 07, 2008 at 12:45 PM
It's been a while since I commented, but after what Ive heard From people in Tally since the convention about how good Greer did, Plus the fact he remains loyal to Crist while other's are leaving or not fully supportive anymore , my bet is the Governor and Greer become even closer and greer becomes Charlies main advisor for re-elect and beyond. I dont agree with everything, But seems Greer is a real leader in an Administation that need's Leadership. Hat's off to both Governor Crist and Jim Greer

"Loser of the week" is really Florida's students
and the Miami Hurricanes
Posted by: | September 07, 2008 at 05:21 PM
Greer is a self promoting blowhard. He is a complete fool.
Posted by: | September 07, 2008 at 06:04 PM
Jim Greer heads the national party and Rimes heads florida heading into the reelect.
Posted by: | September 07, 2008 at 09:26 PM
George will be the next head of the RPOF if Greer moves up.
Posted by: | September 07, 2008 at 10:27 PM
Greer is a Crist tool and Rimes is a robot who loves computers but does not understand people. Rimes should never be in a leadership position because people will not follow him. Greer can lead but it's always to Crist.
Posted by: | September 07, 2008 at 10:35 PM
Rimes has made the RPOF a cold place to work, since he became Ex Director it's just not the same. Rimes is good at numbers and flow charts, but supervising staff is not his strong point, some RPOF staff dont understand how Greer, who many look up to, has let rimes ruin what was such a good place to work before he arrived. PS, I dont work there anymore. But most can't wait till Rimes leaves and RPOF goes back to being a happy place to work!!
Posted by: I love RPOF | September 07, 2008 at 10:51 PM
Greer is a Leader
Rime's is a Manager( Data)
BIG Difference!!!
Posted by: GOP insider | September 07, 2008 at 10:57 PM
Chairman Greer has full confidence in Rime's ,so until that changes Rimes stays ED. Crist has made it clear Greer run's the party and if Greer was not happy with Jim Rime's he would be gone.

Florida's citizens, students and taxpayers were the winners. The biggest tax SHIFT which would have resulted in higher federal taxes was avoided. A proposal for the biggest state entitlement ever (even eclipsing Bright Futures) was avoided. And, the forces of evil were slain for a time.

GO Chairman Rear!
