Obama: Put me in, coach
Barack Obama to the roaring crowd in Dunedin:
"I am running for president because we simply cannot afford four more years of an economic philosophy that works for Wall Street instead of Main Street, and ends up devastating both.
"I don’t want to wake up in four years to find that more Americans have losts their jobs, more Americans have fallen out of the middle-class, that more Americans have lost their homes, and more families lost their savings. I don’t want to see that our country failed to invest in our ability to compete, our children’s future was mortgaged on another mountain of debt, and our financial markets failed to find a firmer footing.
"At this defining moment, we have the chance to finally stand up and say: enough is enough!"
And Buzz notes a new song has replaced Stevie Wonder's Signed, Sealed, Delivered as the first song after his speech. Now John Fogerty caps it off before Stevie: "Oh, put me in, coach -- I'm ready to play today; Put me in, coach -- I'm ready to play today; Look at me, I can be centerfield."

Obama and Biden are ready for prime-time.
Contrast to McCain Campaign:
They say Palin is ready to be President, but she can't talk to a reporter because she might make a mistake. Does that sound alarming to anyone else?

Nice speech.

Obama is too inexperienced to be President. A new song isn't going to help him overcome his numbers in Florida...he will lose the State.
He would be weak on terror and is not material that could be commander-in-chief.

The St. Petersburg Times has made this site a billboard for Obama. Are you playing catch up with the New York Times?
Posted by: | September 24, 2008 at 03:04 PM
Word is the McCain campaign is so afraid to the crises caused by republicans and McCains deregulation he is putting his campaign on hold and requesting to avoid debating Obama. McCAIN CAN RUN..BUT HE CANT HIDE!
Posted by: | September 24, 2008 at 03:04 PM
He is intelligent, and has a different way of seeing things. He really represents change (funny the republicans hijacked that slogan to use at their convention, cuz they want no part of being linked to Bush; the most unpopular President of our lifetime)
People lets try the smart guy from Harvard out, what do we have to lose? Oh wait look where we are after 8 years of Republicans screwing the people and making their buddies wealthy. We need a new kind of leader and that aint McCain and The governess of Moosville.
Since when was intelligence less important than experience?

I am a Republican. I am writing this today because I simply cannot keep my mouth shut any longer. I am fearful of the potential result of this election and the possibility that Barack Obama could very easily be our next President. American is the most powerful country in the world and with that being said I ABSOLUTELY do not think Barack Obama is fit to be the next President of the United States. My fears are NOT that he is a Democrat, my fears are NOT that almost everything I stand for he is against....my fears are the substance of this man, his associations, and well documented past of forming life long friendships with American Terrorist and radicals. Let's take a quick look at some of these associations:
William "Bill" Ayers - Ayers, along with his fellow former Weather Underground terrorist wife, Bernardine Dohrn, are part of the Weather Underground group that bombed New York City Police Headquarters in 1970 , the US Capitol building in 1971, and the Pentagon in 1972. In 2001 Ayers was quoted in saying, "I don't regret setting bombs, I feel we didn't do enough." This is a friend & neighbor of Obama's who has served on an 8 person board ( The Woods Foundation), Obama has admitted spending time with Ayers in his home, and Ayers has donated to Obama's campaign. When asked about his association with this terrorist and his wife, also a terrorist, Obama simply says I can't help what this man did 40 years ago. SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!!! If Hitler were still alive today and John McCain spent time with him, accepted money from his for his campaign, and made personal visits to his home do you really think he could get away with just saying I can't help what he did years ago. Bill Ayers is not only a terrorist, but a terrorist that killed innocent AMERICANS on AMERICAN soil.
Rev. Wright - Obama's "Reverend", spiritual advisor , and the man that presided over his wedding to his wife Michele.
Here are a few quotes from the esteemed "Reverend":
In a 2003 sermon, he said blacks should condemn the United States: "The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God d&%$ America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people. God d*&$ America for treating our citizens as less than human. God d&%# America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."
Promoting Obama's candidacy in a sermon last December: "Barack knows what it means to be a black man to be living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people. Hillary can never know that. Hillary ain't never been called a n-----."
Obama defended him time after time until his campaign started to take a hit, at which point he separated himself.
Antoin Rezko: "Tony" Rezko is a businessman who again has been a fundraiser for Obama. He has been convicted on 16 of 24 counts involving mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering and aiding and abetting bribery. FELONY CHARGES.
Rezko is also tied to Obama in the purchase of his home:
"Rezko and his family donated at least $21,457 to Mr. Obama and helped raise over $200,000 more, though not for his presidential bid. He also advised Mr. Obama on the purchase of a new Chicago home and, in his wife's name, purchased a vacant lot next door to the new Obama home when the seller wanted to dispose of both properties at the same time. Rezko then sold a slice of the property to Mr. Obama. " Washington Time, 2008
Mr. Obama has donated Rezko's contributions to charity and says it was a mistake to work with Rezko on buying the house.
Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae:
Records show in 3 complete years in the Senate that Obama is the 2nd largest recipient of donations from Fannie and Freddie contributions. Second to only Christopher Dodd, Fannie and Freddie have given $126,349 to the Obama campaign. It's nice to see they have money make shady donations while their business has gone BANKRUPT.
NOT TO MENTION OBAMA'S TOP 2 ECONOMIC ADVISORS ARE FREDDIE AND FANNIE EXECUTIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have talked to many Obama supporters and asked each and everyone of them to provide me with 1, yes I said 1, accomplishment of the esteemed senator since he has been in office. HOWEVER, as it stands now I am still waiting on a single answer to such a simple question.
The media can go on and on about the lack of experience of Sarah Palin ( the 2nd name on the McCain ticket). You know what Palin has a record, has an 86 percent approval rating, has a surplus in the state she governs ( which she returned to the people of Alaska), has reformed bills, fought with members of her own party in order to defend the people of Alaska, and is the Commander in Chief of the Alaskan national guard.
Like it or not we do have national security threats, we are in a time of war, and WE need leadership and experience in the White House. In the event that our country was attacked again exactly what experience does Obama bring to the plate to handle and lead our military. In a recent national poll, Russia would like for Obama to be our next President. Well, it does not take a rocket scientist to figure our why RUSSIA would want such a thing.
I apologize for this lengthy rant. I simply love my country and honestly want what is best for it. I would like to end this with a quote from Barack Obama's 2002 biography:
"I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela."-

I am a little McToady. I am writing this today because I'm paid to. Even though my boss Karl Rove helped orchestarte the worst national decline in US history, I simply cannot keep my mouth shut when I should. I am fearful (bleat bleat bleat) of the potential result of this election and that I might lose my pitiful little job posting lies and spin from the Rove Memo and have to compete with the rest of the unwashed masses for one of the few remaining jobs in our faltering economy. American was the most powerful country in the world before we took it over, and with that being said I ABSOLUTELY do not think Barack Obama is fit to be the next President of the United Oligarchy of America. My fears are NOT that he is a Democrat, my fears are NOT that almost everything I stand for he is against....my fears are the substance of this man, his kindness and integrity, and well documented history of lifting himself up from a middle class background to a position from which he has the capability of helping millions of others. That kind of common sense, intelligence, and honesty just don't play well in the totalitarian setting we have planned for the rest of you. So please Gulp Gulp Gulp away and vote for John McBush while we deliver the final death blow to democracy. I personally promise to make your suffering short...just sign here on the dotted line, or else!

I am a Barack Hussein supporter. I blindly support him because to be honest I can't list 1 accomplishment that deems him experienced enough to be the President. I am not sure exactly what he has done, but he sure can give a good speech. I hear him say that he is only going to raise taxes for the rich, but I look at his long history of experience ( 2 years) and see that he has voted four (4) times to raise taxes on those with income of $47,500 and less. That's ok though I am sure the leopard will change his spots once in office. I know he didn't write any laws or bills during his short senate stint, but he did vote present and hey that is worth something.I know his wife really isn't proud of American, but if he is elected President maybe she will finally love our country. I know he can solve our economic crisis because he has first hand knowledge of where all the Fannie/Freddie money went. I know they were going bankrupt, but they had enough money to donate a 6 figure sum to his campaign. I don't have any problem with the fact that his political career started in the home of Tony Rezko and he is thick as thieves with Bill Ayers. I mean come on he only bombed Americans 40 years ago and Barack Hussein was only a child then. I know he defended the racist hate of Rev Wright, but he was his spiritual guide and married him so what else do you expect. I know I cant list a single (1) accomplishment, but that's ok because THOSE SPEECHES are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good.

Come on GOP'ers as a true conservative I say you are about to get "Doled" because you have not been true to principle. The Democrats got beat beyond belief by Reagan because they were so far out of bounds. Now the case is the same with you.
Right about now there are some issues surfacing that make it all too clear to the average person what the Bush Administration has been doing the past 8 years.
All those slick tax schemes to offshore jobs and not throwing down the gauntlet to demand improved regulation a few years back are going to pay off now aren't they.
Not forcing a real energy plan down the throat of democrats is about to power the GOP into a 2nd rate minority party for at least another election cycle or two. When I say an energy I mean just made Democrats eat so much clean coal that PA & MN would now be Red States and the Governor of Montana would have switched parties. Lower energy cost would have been a huge tax cut for the American people. If properly regulated, as in all energy supply and production being quarantined for domestic use only
the United States would have a manufacturing and shipping cost advantage over foreign competitors. RE-SHORING jobs would have led to another 40 to 49 state route of an extremely liberal Democrat candidate who has never done anything to create a job in his life.
How is illegal immigration working for you now? Failure to secure the border and deport illegal aliens have driven up the costs to property tax payers to the point they cannot take it anymore in many areas, services to Americans have suffered and all the while wages stagnated and unemployment increased.
Seriously, the GOP could not even lead the charge to secure the border of this nation who cares what kind of war they might be capable of waging elsewhere.
Where was tax reform as in a Flat or Fair Tax? Where was spending discipline, I mean $15 billion for fighting aids for Africa which really means supporting dictators and despots in Africa so you can massage your ego. 10 Trillion + in national debt, something that will burden this nation for generations.
And a war of 37 days and an occupation longer than WWII so that Saudi Arabia's KING and royal family will not be worried sick or have to fight Iran using their own children and wealth. The word Traitor comes to mind.
With regards to social issues did the Bush Administration do anything besides allowing a ban on partial birth abortion? No, Bush did not use the bully pulpit to push for a Traditional Marriage Protection Act, constant legal challenges to Roe v Wade, ending the ACLU's unique legal status etc.
Despite the 2006 thrashing the GOP took they did not get the message. They did not act and communicate decisively and have thus failed. The only thing yet to be determined is to what degree.
So, GOP'ers dig in and take what is coming your way. You deserve it just like the Democrats did in 80,84 and 88 when they only won between 1 and 10 states in those Presidential contests. Things will not be so bad for the GOP due to Senator Obama's radical social past and agenda but the kool-aid he is serving now is just what people want to drink. The mother's milk of the GOP has soured.
GOP'ers need to rest up and get ready to start rebuilding on November 5th because the destuction an Obama administration is going to create is going to take a nation genuinely united to address issues of common concern.
2010 will be fast upon us, what happens in 2008 was eight years of failure in the making and is already behind us.

Yet again Obama and the Dems put their party before Country.
Congress needs to get to Washington, NOW and get SOMETHING passed to keep money moving.

Republican presidential nominee John McCain wants rival Barack Obama to suspend their heated campaign and postpone Friday's debate because McSenile just found out that "Debate" wasn't that stuff you put on the end of your fishing hook!
McCain/Palin's new strategy; Hide the ho and run from the bro!

NEWS: John McCain has suspended his campaign & plans to delay debates to deal with our economic crisis. He plans to fly back to Washington D.C.

"Bill Ayers is not only a terrorist, but a terrorist that killed innocent AMERICANS on AMERICAN soil."
Er, not that I'm really interested in defending Ayers or his uh, activities in the 60's, but it should be noted that Ayers and his group never killed anyone. It's fair to call him a traitor and even a (retired) domestic terrorist, not fair to call him a murderer.
Posted by: Helene | September 24, 2008 at 05:29 PM
Helene, Bill Ayers killed a police officer. He should be on death row right now.
Posted by: | September 24, 2008 at 05:36 PM
Ayers' family wealth overcame his radical past and he was accepted into mainstream Chicago politics by repubs and dems ALIKE. He's not in prison because of illegal tactics by police and prosecutors that allowed him to go free.

"At this defining moment, we have the chance to finally stand up and say: enough is enough!"
And yet, Mr. Obama would rather campaign in Florida than serve the people of Illinois to find a solution to the financial crisis. Mr. McCain , at least, has done the honorable thing.
Posted by: | September 24, 2008 at 06:00 PM
6:00: Please- McCain is hiding. His (lack of) economic prowess is certainly not needed or missed in DC.
Posted by: | September 24, 2008 at 06:05 PM
I respect the Senator's decision to go to Washington. Perhaps Governor Palin could take his place in Friday's debate. After all, she is ready, right?

It's one thing to say the things Barry said about America today, and it's an entirely different thing to fix the problems of America today. He talks but does not say what actions he will take to improve America if elected. He only states what is wrong. As a community organizer, he should be looking for solutions but has offered none. As you all know, I could go on and on with the faults of Barry, but that isn't of relevance today. What is wrong with America is that we have two different wings of a bird with the same flight plan. Neither candidate is different except one has a funny name and doesn't look like any of the other presidents on our money. Neither candidate will fix what is wrong because both are already bought and paid for. "Change" must start from the bottom up and not the top down. Change can only take place when you go into that voting booth and realize that neither of these candidates have your best interest at heart. They are both out to screw you over and that is the sad state of America today. As an American, I implore you all to realize this and vote for ANY other candidate running. If we deprive the two major parties of our votes will we be able to get them to legislate for us and not their handlers. The choice is up to you! Vote for the candidates that are bought and paid for, or vote for ANY candidate that will truly bring "change" to Washington. It's your country and the only way to take it back is to say "I have had enough" with your vote.
Posted by: Donald Lance | September 24, 2008 at 06:25 PM
""Change" must start from the bottom up and not the top down."
Funnily enough, that is almost exactly what Obama said today.
Posted by: | September 24, 2008 at 06:28 PM
Of course OBAMA wants the debate to go on as scheduled. Why should he actually serve his comittment as Senator more than the pitiful 140 days he already has. He's been campaigning longer than he's served in the Senate. He's a community organizer fetus and a political tourist. Go home Barry, the job is for experienced leaders.
Posted by: Pamela Landy | September 24, 2008 at 06:51 PM
McCain will accomplish nothing on the ecomomy Friday evening. We MUST hear this debate. This is a stunt that makes me ill. He is scared and it is obvious. I am pround to support Obama, more now than ever.
Posted by: | September 24, 2008 at 07:13 PM
Not one comment about Larry Sinclair, the biggest story related to Obama in his entire life. Amazing.
Posted by: Rensed | September 24, 2008 at 07:29 PM
What good would either man do sitting in Washington when they are not drafting these bills? As opposed to addressing the people they would be responsible for in less than two months as already scheduled?
This is so transparent and people are so desperate to believe the hype. Like Palin.
I say if McCain refuses and Palin won't take his place, then let Obama have a solo town hall meeting. With the same national coverage.
Posted by: | September 24, 2008 at 07:49 PM
em, 7:13, the debate is on Foriegn policy. So don't get your hopes up about hearing anything pertaining to the economy.
6:28, please remember that Barry is a Socialist at best. That means top down. Read what I wrote and you'll see that he hasn't offered a solution to anything - just what the problem is. Let me reiterate for you, "Change" means neither party because both candidates are already bought and sold. Remember that when you pull the switch.
Posted by: Donald Lance | September 24, 2008 at 08:18 PM
You know...If you can't juggle a couple of (major) different things at the same time, you have absolutely no bidness being President of the United States of America. Gotta hang up on the President of Russia because the Sultan of Swahili is screaming in your ear? Get another job. Gotta cancel an election year debate, but not a speaking function earlier, because you've gotta be like Super Dog? You can't deal with the financial deal (which you're really out of the loop on anyhoo) and take a coupla hours out to debate your opponent in perhaps the most important Presidential Race In The Past 50 Years?
What kind of H*******t is that?
McCain has become a paper cut-out of the Rove model. He's spiraling into the abyss and is desperate. This is his (campaign's) way of dealing with devastating poll numbers today.
Look for PhotoShopped images of Obama with Heidi Fleiss tomorrow...
McCain's credibility is shot to hell!

How can anyone seriously say a LAWYER knows what's best?!?!?!? Obama and Biden consider themselves experts in Constitutional law. What a joke, they are the last people I want interpreting the US Constitution!
During this economic crisis I want someone who doesn't rely on ex Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac employees to provide instructions on how to write policy. I don't want someone who's campaign relies on huge donations from Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae contributors!

poor obama. he is so far out of touch with this economic situation that he doesn't realize that there is going to be no money left to fund all of these "wonderful" programs and tax credits that he wants to give. there is no way either of these guys can lower your taxes after this economic debacle. they have to pull a clinton and once they get in raise taxes across the board and cut spending dramatically.
