Palin, McCain to Florida soon
Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Bartow, tells the Buzz that the GOP presidential candidate, Sen. John McCain, and his winsome running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, should be coming to the Sunshine State soon: McCain is expected in the Tampa Bay area "in couple of weeks," while Palin is expected to visit the Jacksonville area next month.
Putnam says he expects Palin to campaign in Florida a good bit and that constituents back home in Polk County have all kinds of questions about her:
"'Have you met her? What's she like? Is she coming to Central Florida? We'd love to meet her,'" Putnam recounts. "I mean, ah, you know, she's a, a ..."
Buzz: "She's a celebrity!"
Putnam laughs. "She's a valuble addition to the ticket."

You mean our next Ag Commissioner Putnam? Then we can at least send JD north a few years early!

Their is but one question that will expose this fraud and sink the ticket for good:
So tell me VP Nominee Palin… what would you have done if your teenage daughter made the choice to not have the b-stard child?
If any journalist has the stones to ask that question and not accept a sound-bite “she wouldn’t make that choice” answer… this fantasy is over.

Why else would Alexander spend over $1 million against some loser realtor from Winter Haven who no one knows? I guess he wants to be called Congressman Alexander.

I am travelling to Jacksonville to see her. She brings such excitement to the ticket.

Democrat partisans and Daily Kos clowns like Susan S. will lie & slander Sarah Palin until the cows come home but Florida will go for McCain and there isn't a da*mn thing a harpie like Susan can do about it.
Posted by: | September 11, 2008 at 06:09 PM
The desperation, and the sheer ugliness, of the zealots like Susan S. is going to reach a fever pitch as it becomes apparent Obama is going to lose in November.
Posted by: | September 11, 2008 at 06:14 PM
Can't wait for Sarah to come to Florida. Please make sure Tampa Bay has a stop.
FLORIDA LUVS SARAH!!!!
Posted by: | September 11, 2008 at 06:15 PM
Sarah only said that she welcomed Georgia and the Ukraine into NATO and as a member of NATO the other countries agree to defend them from foreign attacks. Not exactly warmongering.
The lefties like Susan S are losing it. Palin has them off their game.
Posted by: | September 11, 2008 at 06:18 PM
Heck I say go to war too, if Russia attacks NATO, which would likely never happen. Obama would answer the exact same way or risk having Russia invade England, France perhaps even the United States in the future.
Posted by: | September 11, 2008 at 06:21 PM
SO IS THIS YOUR HEADLINE TOO, SARAH?:
OBAMA ALLOWS RUSSIA TO INVADE NATO GEORGIA, UNITED STATES MAY BE NEXT.

BEWARE: THE OLD MAN AND HIS NEW SIDEKICK COMMETH TO TAKE YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN OFF TO DIE IN A WAR!!

Nice overhyping by a left-wing loon that reads FAR left wing blogs, Susan.
She was talking about as part of NATO - we are part of NATO and will do as NATO decides.
You dems are REALLY grasping. I'm sorry for you that the country has woken up to realizing Obama is a fraud.
The Dems should have chosen Hillary and may indeed, have to force Obama off the ticket.

WOW!!, Sarah was great on her first interview on ABC with Charlie Gibson.
She was firm and knowledgable of all foreign matters.

Sarah Palin just hit the ball out of the park with her 1st interview.
The elite media tried to stump her but to no avail.

Big stretch from saying we should support a potential NATO partner if it is invaded by Russia, to advocating nuclear war with Russia.
Having said that, it appears to be the point of participating in such treaties is to support ones partners and expect support from ones partners in such an event; otherwise it is disingenous to sign on.
I fully agree rap* victims should not pay for their rap* kits. I have no problem with trying to collect from their insurance companies if this is something they typically would pay for. I wonder how many rap* victims ended up being billed, this was not clear in the article. It is also not clear why this issue is being raised 8 years after the fact, nor is it clear when policy started and when it stopped. Poor reporting to me.
Lousy policy regardless, but before Palin can be gigged, this article left out too many pertinent facts that should be clarified. If the facts point out she implemented the policy, didn't stop it when complaints came out, rap* victims were actually billed (unless some sort of deceipt was involved), then she should be gigged on this one. But I am betting, like so many other issues some people are trying to get to stick, this one won't have any traction either.
I may be wrong, but my advice to Democrats would be to moderate criticism of her - she is not running for President. McCain should be a big enough target. This election was in the bag for Senator Obama before issues such as this were thrown out too quickly and with little thought for accuracy. Obviously, energized a pretty apathetic party. I think he'll win anyway, but turned a potential moderate blow-out into a nailbiter.
But since I am a Republican, likely to vote for McCain (I like Keyes myself)- keep it up.

Look at the RCP numbers for states now. McCain Palin's numbers have increased in almost every state:

Obama is running out of money and begging for funds from anybody/everybody.
Maybe the dems should put Hillary at the top of the ticket before it's too late.

Okay, I watched the Gibson interview with Palin. AS a woman, I was hoping that 10 days of prep for the interview would at least allow her to speak intelligently about the complex world we live in. Gibson asked her questions about the middle east, russian aggression and the Bush doctrine (pre-emptive war}. It wasnt pretty and it was downright painful to watch. In fact it confirmed every fear that sane people had that she was unqualified for national office. She didnt know what the Bush doctrine was, and even when Gibson explained it to her it was clear she had no real understanding of what he was asking. She suggested we might have to go to war with Russia if Russia attacks Georgia. She also gave Israel free reign to attack Iran unilaterally, if it felt the need to do so without any hesitation as to the effect on the region. (oil anyone) All the silly comments that she did great or hit it out of park are depressing if people really believe that. She exhibited no substance or thoughtful relection. She just kept repeating one liners they fed her. Electing someone who has no understanding of the world is scary. I do not fault her. She did the best she could and she is who she is. I fault Mccain for selecting someone for cynical political reasons no matter how irresponsible it was and no matter what the risk to the country.

Good thinking 4:33. That would really bring their whole campaign to a shrieking hault.
If she answered as you suggested, she would be dodging the question.
If she said she would have done everything legally in her power to force her daughter to have the child, you would crucify her.
If she said it was her daughters choice, you would call her a hypocrite.
And it would impact people's opinions not in the slightest - would any answer she gave sway you?
Abortion isn't the only issue out there: the economy, the war, energy policy, health care, job creation, competing in a global economy, illegal immigration. The one the President has the least affect on is abortion.
The Supreme Courts call. While next president may get a couple picks, it will be difficult if not impossible to get a pro-lifer past the a Democratic Congress, both Houses will likely have significant democratic majorities. Then if they decided to overturn Roe v. Wade this simply returns the decision to each state. I don't believe California, Wisconsin, New York, New Jersey, Massachusettes, Michigan or probably even Florida will make it illegal. And I don't think even a right wing court will be stupid enough to allow for 50+ different laws on this issue.

What a shame that Joe Biden, VP nominee, doesn't think he is the best person for the job. "Spokesman Ben Porritt offered this response from the McCain camp: "Barack Obama’s most important decision of this election, and Biden -- the candidate he selects -- suggests, himself, that he wasn’t the right man for the job, and that Hillary Clinton would have been a better choice. Biden certainly has a credible viewpoint on this."
What does that say about Barry's judgement. As POTUS, you don't get a do-over. More food for fodder for you Barry fans. He can't even make the right pick for VP. What's he going to say to you, Joe 6-pack, when he causes you to go belly up with his social revolution?

Another example of the unbridled, or maybe better said unbrassiered, hatred for Sarah Palin by the left:

Gator, overturninh Roe V Wade will not just turn over abortion to the states. That is a conservative talking point that makes it sound not too scary. It would allow the federal government to legislate it on a national level because there would be no federal right to privacy anymore. Congress, and I agree it would be a Republican congress could pass a national ban on all abortions and they would set a federal criminal sentence. There would be nothing each individual state could do about it.

Bev,
We must not have watched the same interview. I saw a biased interviewer and a very calm and capable interviewee. I felt she had very good anwers to stupid and unanswerable questions. I saw Obama try to answer the same ones and he was pathetic.
Posted by: | September 11, 2008 at 07:52 PM
7:52...I know people see things through their own bias and preconceptions, and God knows I have mine. I am not a blank slate here. But I really wanted her to appear well versed and knowlegable about the world. I saw no substance at all. Gibson asked important questions and he was serious but respectful. Her responses were not detailed and half the time it was obvious she didnt really grasp the problems being discussed or their impications for our country. She is like a loose cannon and we cant afford that now. Could you really imagine her as our president? I just dont think she has the intellect or the sophistication to be the leader of the free world. Again I dont blame her or dislike her. Its just my belief that the country cannot afford to risk our future on her.
Posted by: Bev | September 11, 2008 at 08:10 PM
Gibson was very condescending and showed absolutely no RESPECT to this interviewee. RESPECT in the most important aspect between reporter & subject.Gibson needs to go back to college on journalism 101.
Gibson tried to set trap doors for Palin, but she did not take the bait.
Posted by: | September 11, 2008 at 08:47 PM
I believe Senator McCain knew exactly what he was doing when he selected Governor Palin as his VP nominee. He was changing the subject. He knows he can't win the election based on meat-and-potato issues, so he wanted to bring out cultural issues -- teen pregnancy, abortion, guns, and all of the other hubris.
Folks, the question for this election is straight forward: Do you think George Bush did a good job? If so, you vote for John McCain who voted with George Bush over 90% of the time. It really is that simple.
As far as Mr. Putnam's opinion about Governor Palin, who cares? This is a manchild who was raised on the politics of Actor Reagan (quadrupled the debt), who voted with George Bush over 96% of the time (tripled the debt), and first supported Actor Thompson for President (received about 4% of the vote). Not exactly a stellar track record for THE supposed rising star of the Republican Party. The only thing he's gotten right so far is that Republicans are going to take a tremendous beating in the November elections. After he personally is beaten in November by Doug Tudor, perhaps Adam can set up a cutting-edge palm-reading shop in Bartow. His predictions couldn't be any worse astrologically than they have been politically.
P.S. Being Ag Commissioner means you know something about agricultural issues. Being the son and grandson of millionaires who use illegal citrus labor to boost their bottom line doesn't count. Nuff said!

Cable news commentators all are saying Sarah Palin did very well, no stumbles.
They did say Charles Gibson was trying to make her stumble & set traps for her and she did not bite.
Great job Sarah!!

Bev, I CAN'T IMAGINE BARACK OBAMA EVEN BEING GOVERNOR LES THE PRESIDENT.
HE HAS ABSOLUTELY ZERO EXPERIENCE COMPARES WITH PALIN OR MCCAIN.

THE ABCNEWS BLOGS ARE HEAVILY STATING THAT GIBSON SEEMED RUDE, CONDESCENDING & DISRESPECTFUL TO SARAH PALIN.
WOW!! WHAT A BACKLASH TO THE ELITE LIBERAL MEDIA
Posted by: | September 11, 2008 at 08:53 PM
I agree Charlie Gibson (the most conservative anchor) was unfair to poor Governer Palin. He had the nerve to ask hard questions about real world issues. He should have joked around with her and asked how the moose hunting was going. Maybe he could have asked for one of those delicious mooseburgers she enjoys. If asking Saint Sarah her views and getting her thoughts on difficult problems is disrespectful, then I give up. She gave superficial answers that showed she has no clue about the world. She has the talking style of a teenager and appears to have a limited vocabulary. Is this what we want? A totally unqualified national leader....This is getting crazy.

The investigations exposed "a culture of ethical failure" and an agency rife with conflicts of interest, Inspector General Earl E. Devaney said.
Between 2002 and 2006, 19 oil marketers — nearly a third of the Denver office staff — received gifts and gratuities from oil and gas companies, including Chevron Corp., Shell, Hess Corp. and Denver-based Gary-Williams Energy Corp., the investigators found.
"Employees frequently consumed alcohol at industry functions, had used cocaine and marijuana, and had sexual relationships with oil and natural gas company representatives" who referred to some of the government workers as the "MMS Chicks."
FROM THE "FAMILY VALUES" ADMINISTRATION!
BTW.... its o.k.for repub's to say Obama has no experience but when you say Palin has no experience you are bashing her ?

I don't need the pravda pundits on cable news to tell me what to think. I went beyond the fifth grade and can actually think for myself. Sarah Palin did not give an interview that conveyed intelligence, class or an understanding of the world. This was not a good first impression. I bet this was her last interview outside of Fox news.

McCain: The economy is the major challenge.
Q: You have said that the number one issue facing the US, and that is addressing the challenge of our time is Islamist extremism. What credentials does Gov Palin have in National Security, diplomacy, foreign policy that qualified her to be your partner on that issue…
McCain: Well, obviously the economy is a major challenge…
Q: No, I’m using your words Senator….
<>
McCain: I said the greatest challenge of our time is national security threats and I’ve also said jobs and economy is the number one issue facing America so, but the point is that Gov. Palin is right on the issues. She understands energy which is one of the fundamental issues of our security….She was right on Iraq, she was right on Russia….
Q: You say you’re sure she has experience, but again I’m just asking for an example. What experience does she have in the field of national experience.
McCain: Energy. She knows more about energy than probably anyone else in the United States of America..

I'm watching Obama answering simple questions about community service on Fox and he's a mumbling idiot! Ican't believe this guy is a candidate for President of the U.S. I'd take Palin in the job before this imbecile. All he does is talk, talk...and say nothing! Our country is in big trouble if this fool is elected. If he can't handle simple questions about community service, how in the he.. will he handle Russia, Iran, etc. God save our Nation from Obama!!

Posted by: | September 11, 2008 at 09:40 PM
8:51...Yes Obama does not have 25 years of government experience. He is a relatively young man. But he is smart and knowledgable. You may disagree with his views and that is a legtimate reason not to vote for him. But I think he, like Mccain, are up to the task to be president. Both have the qualities to be a national and world leader. I cannot, regretably, say the same thing about Palin. John Mccain is 72 years old. The bureau of vital statistics lists the life expectancy of a white male at 76 years old. He has a recurring form of cancer. We all have to be concerned about Sarah Palin because there is a good chance she could be our president if Mccain is elected. I'm having nightmares thinking about this.
Posted by: Bev | September 11, 2008 at 09:41 PM
Palin would be a better candidate for prez than any of the other three currently on the tickets of both parties. Biden, Obama, McCain--all more of the same, insiders who are part and parcel of what's wrong with D.C.
