Ron Klein would never get votes north of I-40. Boyd is a good ole boy and conservative enough to carry some Republicans and most independents.

With the GOP doing so poorly, I guess that's why Putnam wants to come home to run for Ag Commissioner. Also explains why JD Alexander is spending $1 million against a complete and total nobody in his Senate race- he wants to take Putnam's spot in two years.

Putnam comes home, JD spends upteen dollars to jack up his name ID against a nobody in order to go to Congress. Hmmm....

Everyone knows this. No poll listed, florda republicans can't stand Martinez and will even vote for a democrat over Martinez if he happens to run again and win a primary challenge. Anyway you look at it, Martinez is a one-term senator.

Boyd voted to give Treasury an $800billion blank check to bailout Fannie and Freddie investors. How's that working for ya? The markets have given you and your ilk the middle finder and it now costs more than ever to insure US government debt. You are an idiot.
BTW, Allen, you should spell check your letters to your constituents.

The real challenge to Mel comes in 2012. Just stand by, you'll love it!
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 03:14 PM
Suppose Martinez choses not to run. I'd be interested in who this thread thinks will run for the Republican nomination. I know you guys know...
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 04:16 PM
I'm a Republican. I'll vote for Boyd if he runs. Klein not so much.
A male version of Paula Hawkins. Never thought I'd live to see the day...

Mel should leave now and let Crist appoint someone to consolidate Republicans.

It is not too late for Florida Republicans to find a Sarah Palin, or for a Sarah Palin to find Florida. A Republican needs to run against Martinez and beat the crap out of him. There are soccer moms and PTA Presidents throughout the state who would make better Senators than either dumb and dumber Martinez and Nelson. Let's all cut a deal and find a Spessard Holland and a Connie Mack to replace both of these useless pieces of s--t.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 04:34 PM
I like the Connie Mack idea.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 04:55 PM
Think Connie Mack runs????

There has to be a community organizer somewhere to run for this seat.
Posted by: Donald Lance | September 09, 2008 at 05:37 PM
Can someone tell me for whom a community organizer works? Who writes the check?
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 06:06 PM
Mr. Mary Bono is not running for it count on it. His divorce was nasty plenty of ammo
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 06:06 PM
Anyone running against Martinez that is not a supporter of illegal aliens and amnesty gets my vote. Fidel Mel should go back to cuba to be with his people rather than trying to bring them all here.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 06:32 PM
Never heard of the two guys.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 06:43 PM
How about a McCollum v Martinez rematch? How would that look?
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 07:43 PM
Mel has three choices:
(1) announce he his not seeking re-election
(2) get defeated in a Republican Primary Election (very embarrassing)
(3) get defeated in the General Election
His only face-saving exit is to not seek re-election just after November 4 to give the Republicans the full 2 years to find a replacement and fundraise.
Charlie can probably find some appointed position for Mel.
Which would at least give the Republicans a chance of keeping that US Senate seat in 2010.
Otherwise, it's one more Senate seat closer to a filibuster-proof 60 for the Dems.

martinez won with less than one percent on bush's coattails in a year in which bush won by 5%.
why did the media never report on his $400,000 income in 2004 from Ackerman Senterfit? He never did any work to earn this income bc he was campaigning all year. What was the money for?
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 11:21 PM
Yeah, the florida papers were too busy sucking up to actually ask martinez about this payoff.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 11:22 PM
Is it possible that money came from the mexican government to ensure support for open borders and an amnesty?
Posted by: | September 10, 2008 at 01:29 AM
Martinez is only a narrow rung up the ladder from Nelson but he needs to go as well.
His lack of job security does not bother me.
Posted by: | September 10, 2008 at 09:48 AM
ALL of them need to go!!!!!!Martinez, Fasano, Crist, Legg and everyone of the bottome feeders that have been living off the Florida Tax payer for years!
See today's news in the SPT
1. Lotto...not enough to cover schools, any idiot could have seen that coming.
2. Expanding Florida infrastructure and investing in our future...I sent letters to all of my elected officials months ago suggesting this.
The whole system is crazy, just who is running this state?
I am so disgusted with every single local, state and federal official!
BTW did anyone see Glen Beck last night? The guy who writes the tax codes for the federal gov't is being busted for not paying HIS TAXES, "he didn't know he had to pay, his wife takes care of that." What a crock of sh$$t.
