Poll: McCain slipping in Florida
Rasmussen newest robo poll finds that John McCain's lead over Barack Obama in Florida has dropped from 5 points to 1 point - 48 to 47 percent - in three days. "McCain leads 78 percent to 19 percent among politically conservative Florida voters while Obama leads 89 percent to 8 percent among political liberals. Obama also holds a 17-point advantage among self-described political moderates while McCain benefits from the fact that there are more conservative voters than liberals."
The RealClearPolitics average today has McCain up by 1.6 percentage points in Florida. In the 10 Florida polls since Sept. 11 Obama has been up in Florida once and tied twice.
Charlie Crist was rated good or excellent by 54 percent of voters.

Quick - suspend the campaign ... for the good of the country.
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 11:08 AM
Between the slipping polls and the organization that Obama has in Florida, McCain better be ready to pump a pretty penny into Florida to have any chance of being President.
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 11:08 AM
And yet, the only pollster to correctly predict the 2004 election, John Zogby, predicts that McCain will win in a landslide.
We'll see what happens...

Why is McCain avoiding the debate with Obama?
Also, why is McCain talking about canceling Palin's debate with Joe Biden in the VP debates?
It doesn't make any sense.
Posted by: Debate | September 26, 2008 at 11:32 AM
This is a sure sign that McCain is in trouble in the Sunshine State. His decision to suspend the campaign and try to postpone the debate has obviously shown the voters that he is not prepared to be President.

Here is the real reason McCain wants to cancel Palins VP debate.
http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/i_video/main500251.shtml?id=4478156n
Palin was talking gibberish. In fact, Palin is living, breathing proof that John McCain lies when he claims to put this country first over politics. She makes Dan Quayle look like Albert Einstein with a better haircut.

from AMERICAblog, 9.26.09:
"MSNBC is reporting that McCain will be going to the debate. Someone just blinked. This whole debate stunt was yet another erratic and questionable decision by McCain. In the midst of a crisis, we've seen who the real John McCain is and it says a lot to the American people McCain isincapable of managing the nation in a crisis. Where Obama has been measured in his response, McCain and the Republicans are playing politics with the international economy and making a bigger mess."

well of course HE'S SLIPPING!!
people are getting an an opportunity to SEE exactlly how johnnie mcBUSH acts and reacts in a crisis.
HE'S BATKRAPCRAZY AND UNSTABLE!!
humorous jibes about his mental state are NO LONGER CLEVER or FUNNY 'cause they are BASED IN FACTS and OBSERVATIONS!!!!

11:45 - you mean like your grammar?
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 11:45 AM
11:38, I agree with you 100%. Putting Palin on ticket is a pure political move and shows that McCain is putting "election first". If he had Romney right now, it would benefit his campaign because of the economy.
Floridians won't fall for McCain/Palin.
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 11:50 AM
The debate is going forward with Mccain.
Talk about your flip-flops.
McCain is erratic.
Posted by: MCCAIN IS ERRATIC | September 26, 2008 at 12:02 PM
This is crap. The internals in Florida now has it:
McCain - 58%
Obama - 41%
Oh right really slipping for democrats. Where everything down is up and everything is down. Look at is this way, the liberals still have HOPE! CHANGE, HOPE, and more CHANGE. And now the new addition - Call me if you need me.

Republicans are toast across the board. Why should it be otherwise? They've led us into the worst national decline since the Great Depression. The only thing that holds them together is the wingnut base, who can't admit the obvious.
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 12:16 PM
12:03, John McCain is not part of the Banking and Finance Committee. What the heck is he going to do in Washington, now? He doesn't even have a stance on the bailout.
Posted by: Tom | September 26, 2008 at 12:18 PM
Right wingers.. I have a question....
How do you feel about John McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis? The guy that was getting 30k per month as Fannie Mae's lobbyist even when it was collapsing.
Palin couldn't answer this so I want to hear what you have to say. Let's hear the spin...
Posted by: Tom | September 26, 2008 at 12:20 PM
Remember the iraq war?
That is a clinic where the republican base prefers to abort the lives of 18 & 19 year old soldiers over unborn fetuses.
Posted by: ABORT | September 26, 2008 at 12:25 PM
I want all Senators, Congressmen and Women, the President, The Head of The Fed and Treasury in Washington NOW and do not leave until we have an agreement.
But as we see; that is not what the Democraps want. They want to write this bill so they can payoff their bidders.
I say, if that is the case; be ready to take 100% of the blame for the swindle that is called a "Rescue Plan"
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 12:26 PM
Tom, how do you feel about the Democrats having their fingerprints all over the financial bust?
From the "affordable housing" to the incest at Fannie and Freddie, to them blocking any regulation that would have stopped this crisis in the 1st place.
When the truth is known, the Democrats will be forever know as the party that brought down Main Street.
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 12:29 PM
But don't fret; your leader will tax everyone to make sure you get your $2,000 "rebate"
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 12:31 PM
Does this poll still have McCain in the lead?
A tie is a win for McCain because of the 30% of racist Democrats that refuse to vote for a black man.
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 12:32 PM
I don't care that Obama is black (well actually White/African/Arab).
The reason I am not voting for him is that he is a left-wing radical.

Cut taxes for rich people, deregulate the banks, tax middle class to bail out Wall Street.
Rinse and Repeat.

Although the fate of tonight's presidential debate in Mississippi remains very much up in the air, John McCain has apparently already won it -- if you believe an Internet ad an astute reader spotted next to this piece in the online edition of the Wall Street Journal this morning."
"McCain Wins Debate!" declares the ad which features a headshot of a smiling McCain with an American flag background.

When Reagan came to office, he slashed the top tax rate.
READY FOR SOME FACTS?
That caused the biggest economic expansion ever recorded in human history.
Additionally, due to the increase in business; we collected more in taxes than ever before.
I submit to you that our problem is not too little taxation; it is too much spending.
Regarding bank deregulation: Thank your hero Bubba and the liberal Republicans for that mess.
The middle class in this country will always get the shaft. The main reason: We do not vote in numbers.
Who votes: Retirees and the Wards of the State; neither of which produce anything nor pay substantial tax (when compared to services provided).
Class dismissed....

OK folks, last warning. Stop it. Stop the sexist smearing of Sarah Palin. The fact is she's gone on three television programs and she has performed remarkably well. And that mean Katie Couric doubts that it's real foreign policy experience that Palin can see Russia from her house! The nerve.
John McCain says she is the most qualified person in the country to be vice president. Not Romney, or Huckabee, or Guiliani, or Ridge. And how do I know this? Because John McCain Always, Always, ALWAYS puts country first. He suspended his campaign and said he wouldn't debate until they resolved the economic mess. Now, after Palin's disastrous week, he's ready to debate. Country 2nd?
Nice gimmick, John. You folks can support McCain but you have to suspend reality to back anything he's saying.
Smells like desperation.
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 01:09 PM
12:29, the deregulation of banks came with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. It was authored by Phil Gramm(R) and passed in a Newt Gingrich congress and signed by Bill Clinton. All are to blame, left and right.
The oversight that McCain claims to suggest happened in 2005. It never got off the ground to debate. It was a republican congress in 2005.
So how is this solely a Democrat problem? Keep looking to the right on every issue and your head in the sand.
Now, can someone answer my question about Rick Davis?

look all, you repulicans and demorcrats there is just one person that is right and that person is Ralph Nader, open the debates and open your eyes 700Billon$ both partys are up to thier eyes in corruption.

Well, while McCain, Obama and Bush were hunkered down inside the White House yesterday working to bail out the crooks on Wall Street, we were outside in front of the White House yelling -- "That ain't right."
No bailout for Wall Street crooks.
McCain/Obama for the bailout.
Nader/Gonzalez opposed.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND...
all this hoopla was designed by johnnie mcBUSH to sabatoge the debates so the biden-palin debate could be elliminated.
IT DIDN'T WORK!!
even johnnie mcBUSH's toadies in congress TURNED ON HIM!
it is painfully obvious that suzie zamboni is so pathetically incapable of even uttering an understandable thought let alone a coherent sentence on anything of significance to this nation and the world that johnnie mcBUSH wants her HIDDEN FROM VIEW for the rest of the campaign.
once that incredibly dumb broad opens her mouth, he is DONE!!

Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 01:51 PM
Kathleen does not call Palin a douchebag. She does, however, question her fitness to be VP, which makes me question whether McCain vetted her in the first place. McCain botched the biggest decision of the campaign. It's great to be a Maverick, but sometimes you have to prove you can run something smoothly. McCain Mavericked himself to the bottom of his class, out of his first marriage into the Keating Five and now out of White House.
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 01:56 PM
Who won the debate showdown? McCain said postpone, Obama said no and McCain is on his way to Oxford. McCain, YOU BLINKED!
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 01:57 PM
Palin is at least as qualified as Obama. You don't have the luxury to vote "present" as Governor. You have to actually make a decision.

1:00 As usual, you have nothing but name calling post. Reagan, using the bully pulpit forced the Democrats to lower tax rates. That caused record growth. FACT
However (and here is where you will learn something) Tip O'Neil and his cronnies never even looked at Reagans budget; rther they called it dead on arrival. In 8 years, not a single Reagan budget was passed. The Democrats loaded them all with pork. FACT
That is the reason for record deficits. You are free to believe what you want; however FACTS DO NOT CHANGE.
Posted by: | September 26, 2008 at 02:18 PM
Tom, Newt left Congress in Jan 1999.
Anyway, Gramm Leach was passed overwhelmingly by both parties and signed by Clinton.
Right now, the House Republicans are the only thing standing between the taxpayer and a huge windfall for the Political and Wall Street elite.
Anyone have any lube....?

anyone remember DAVID STOCKMAN??

1:00 You are all screwed up. You say "it took until the cllinton years to gat back towards a balanced budget"
You have to be on crack or just plain ignorant.
Now this is important so listen up: Clinton campaigned on "LOWER TAXES FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS" and then proceeded to pass the LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN AMERICAN HISTORY.
Sound fimilar???
Clinton did not, as you say "gat back towards a balanced budget". In 1994 Newt and the Republicans swept into the House on the promise of a balanced budget and forced Clinton to the table. Had it not been for Newt, this would never have happened.
So which is it? Are you a drug addict or just plain ignorant?
