Rubio: Obama = socialism

Florida House Majority Leader Adam Hasner told the Florida delegation in St. Paul that as a speaker Marco Rubio "can take you to places you've never been before." The House speaker then warned that "Marx would be pleased" by Obama's tax proposals and that Obama essentially advocates socialism

"I love what Barack Obama's candidacy says about America. I just fear what his cadidcacy would do to America," said Rubio. "To leave our children with a centrally planned socialist economy is not a better plan."

Florida: Rubio = Who?

How's that Bush economy working out for you?

Well, Marco, unfortunately for me, my family and I have to live with what you did -- or more accurately, what you did not do -- for Florida while you had the chance to be a real leader. No real property tax relief, no insurance solutions whatsoever, no investment in education, nothing whatsoever that improved the day to day lives or futures of Floridians. So coming from a do-nothing poser with 1,000's of ideas to nowhere, your critique of anyone is meaningless. Thankfully, you are now irrelevant.

It's working fine for me. Got a 15% raise this morning!

Hey 10:38, the economy is at the end of a long, successful run. A temporary lull or recession is normal. During the Bush years, unemployment and interest rates have been the lowest they have been in my lifetime. And the economy is still going. Latest figures show over 3% growth. I challenge you 10:38, when was the economy better?

"the economy is at the end of a long, successful run"

Fact check - Florida doesn't even have an economy.

10:46 would be cracking me up if I wasn't paying

26% more this year for milk
40% more this year eggs
20% more for past products
etc.

sad sad sad

GulpityGulpitygulpgulpgulp… GulpityGulpitygulpgulpgulp… what’s my opinion today Mr. Hanity… GulpityGulpitygulpgulpgulp… what’s my opinion today Mr. Limbaugh… GulpityGulpitygulpgulpgulp…mmmmmm, this kool aid is scrumptious… I’m in; I say we give the launch code to a Hockey Mom!

11:09

do you understand how economies work, and why costs have increased for those products?

10:46 BLS Stats say you are wrong. 1998 and 1999 (Clinton years) Unemployment was lower than all 8 yrs of W. See:

http://data.bls.gov/PDQ/servlet/SurveyOutputServlet?data_tool=latest_numbers&series_id=LNS14000000

10:46 unemployement is at 5.5%.... are you that dumb?

11:22

also note that those stats indicate "age 16 or over"...notice how they spike when the minimum wage was raised.

Clinton Administartion was the beneficiary of the dot.com boom which created new jobs that had previously never been conceived.

We knew we were headed into a slow cycle during the 2000 campaign...we did not know the post 9/11 effects were coming.

Nonetheless, unemployment has only gone over 6% once in the last 8 years (and if you take the graph back to the 1990's, the highest it ever got then was 7%)

Compare that to some European nations who hover in the double-digits routinely - a place we have not been since the 1970's

Omega83: Is that a long winded way of saying "I was wrong"?

The unemployment numbers are as flawed as the Presidential poll numbers. The methodology is manipulated to gain a predetermined reactive result. It counts transferred jobs as “Jobs Gained” in the transferred-to category, but counts them as “Transferred” instead of “Jobs Lost” in the transferred-from category.

Also, it does not reflect the “type” of job, level of pay for that job, whether it’s someone’s second or third job, and counts the jobs taken by illegal immigrants as jobs taken by Americans.

There is no realistic unemployment rate; only unemployment politics.

More Palin issues. This is the gift that just keeps on giving. Thanks John McCain.

McCain campaign angrily defends Sarah Palin By RON FOURNIER, Associated Press

McCain shook up the presidential race last Friday by picking Palin, a little-known governor serving her first term in Alaska. Since then, the self-styled "hockey mom" with a record of bucking the state's political establishment has had a bright spotlight shone on her private and public life.

First, she announced that her unmarried 17-year-old daughter, Bristol Palin, was pregnant. Among the other revelations, none of which seem to have shaken McCain's confidence or undermined her support among GOP delegates:

_A private attorney is authorized to spend $95,000 of state money to defend her against accusations of abuse of power.

_Palin sought pork-barrel projects for her city and state, contrary to her reformist image.

_Her husband once belonged to a fringe political group in Alaska, with some members supporting secession from the United States.

_She has acknowledged smoking marijuana in the past.

McCain's aides rejected suggestions from Democrats that her selection was a hurried, last-minute attempt to shake up the campaign and wrest female voters from Barack Obama. They insisted Palin was a finalist from the start.

But one senior Republican familiar with the search, who requested anonymity because McCain did not authorize the conversation, said Palin had virtually fallen from the radar. Only late in the summer, when McCain asked for more alternatives, was she made a finalist.

11:35

no, my point is that, liek all sattistics - BLS stats need to be looked at and accounted for outlier variables.

And, Presidents have little effect on job creation/loss, sans FDR whose first 2 terms were simply creating federal jobs.

And in perspective, 7% unemplyment (the higest under Clinton) is nothing compared to economic cycles in the past or in other industrialized nations...a lot of places would kill for 7%

We have it pretty good here...

This is a great economy if you didnt buy a $500,000 when you earn $25,000 per year.

My taxes in Pinellas went down $200 per year. My insurance is below way what I was paying for just 3 years ago.

I just bought a gas guzzling truck for 50% off sticker. We are looking at a rental house that is in foreclosure and our recent trip to NYC was cheaper than I would have guessed.

This is the best time to make deals on autos, technology and homes. And with the stock market down; it is a wonderful opportunity to jump in and make some serious money.

Cry me a river.....

One persons pain is another persons pleasure.

I would expand the Obama = Socialism.

There is communism as well in his desire to nationalize healthcare.

Therefore the formula should be:

Obama = Socialism + Communism

Lets just call it Obamanism and be done with it

Have you minions seen your VP picks future son-in-law’s myspace page yet?… a fine example of an American Republican father this piece of work is.

I only wish he’d delete the f-bombs… it’d be a much faster read.

I say give the Hockey Mom the launch codes and tell her Putin just divorced her sister!

… freaking priceless

This is how McCain makes a decision on the security of Americans. Is this some kind of bad joke.

McCain did not speak face to face with Palin until Thursday morning, at his retreat in Sedona, Ariz. He also
talked to her by telephone the previous Sunday. McCain had spoken with all of the others on his shortlist over the course of a selection process that went on for several months, but he was least familiar personally with the person he finally chose.

last I heard it was Palin and hubby who had ties to anti-American fringe groups in Alaska. Are they on the terroist watch list?

Marco Rubio is a feather weight.

He just marginalizes the GOP, as if the GOP didn't need further marginalizaion.

Rubio is an idiot. Another Right Wing nut.

Betcha anything that the pro Obama bloggers are a bunch of pot smoking high school kids.

12:56

You have to be kidding. Do you want to talk about candidates that have ties to anti-American groups....

Yeah, that it, let's start that conversation!

hahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

The ONE said to leave family members out of it. If you disobey the word of the ONE there will be a price to pay!

"The gifts that God has given to Barack Obama are as enormous as his future is unlimited. As his mentor, as his colleague, as his friend, I look forward to helping him reach to the stars and realize not just the dreams he has for himself but the dreams we all have for him and our blessed country."

-- Sen. Joe Lieberman, introducing Sen. Barack Obama at the 2006 Jefferson-Jackson-Bailey dinner in Connecticut.

How much does Michelle Obama love America? Let me tell you how much--NADA!!!

I read today that Obama's youngest daughter is not really his!

1:33 I would second that guess. It only makes sense since they know nothing of history and seem to pay no taxes.

It is either that or they are just homeless bums cooling off at the library until the soup kitchen opens back up for dinner.

1:53

Yeah and Hitler used to be introduced like that until they found out who he really was.

SP Times needs to just shut down their blogs for a week... people on both sides of the presidential race are out of control - it used to be fun to read somewhat relevant banter on the issues, but the name calling has turned this blog into the likes of a teenage myspace site... posts have nothing to do with the story mentioned... it is childish!

As always liberals miss the point on the economy in a capitalist REPUBLIC. It is not the job of government to lower prices on milk, eggs, or cheese. It is not the governments job to hand you health care, lower priced homes, or "save you" from a natural disaster.

It is YOUR responsibility to take care of YOUR family, and investments.

The federal government is limited (on purpose!) in our constitution, to protect us from tyranny.

In fact the federal government has NO RIGHT to do anything that is not specified/restricted by the constitution.

Amendment 10 reads: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

To the people! Rely on yourself, not government to manage your OWN life.

2:06 BRAVO!

GulpityGulpitygulpgulpgulp… GulpityGulpitygulpgulpgulp… what’s my opinion today Mr. Hanity… GulpityGulpitygulpgulpgulp… what’s my opinion today Mr. Limbaugh… GulpityGulpitygulpgulpgulp…mmmmmm, this kool aid is scrumptious… I’m in; I say we give the launch codes to the Hockey Mom and tell her Putin just divorced her sister!

2:10 Launch Codes; I thought you banned nukes, what launch codes?

To Gul-pity -

Once the debate is lost; all that remains is insult.

Jo, may I have your permission to reprint that quote?

It seems like it could be used on here quite frequently...

Rubio is correct. Go to PES.org (European Social Party). Here's their press release:

Denver - PES was there

1 September 2008
The Party of European Socialists was well-represented at the US Democratic National Convention where Barack Obama was nominated Democratic Presidential candidate.

The PES was represented by Ruairi Quinn, PES Presidency member and Treasurer, and Philip Cordery, PES Secretary General. PES member parties had high level representatives including Mona Sahlin, Leader of  the Swedish Social Democrats; Eamon Gilmore, Leader of the Irish Labour Party; Caroline Gennez, Leader of  the Flemish Socialists SPa; Lilianne Ploumen, Chair of the Dutch Labour PvdA; Ivailo Kalfin, Foreign Minister of Bulgaria, Hubertus Heil, Secretary General of the German SPD; Eero Heinäluoma former Leader of SDP Finland; Josef Kalina, from SPÖ Austria, Ed Miliband MP from the UK Labour Party; Juan Fernando López Aguilar from Spanish Socialists PSOE, Nicolai Wammen from SD Denmark; and many others as well as Walter Veltroni, Leader of  the Italian Partito Democratico.

PES participants were hosted by the Chair of the National Democratic Committee Howard Dean. They had a full agenda and took part in the International Leaders Forum (ILF) organised by National Democratic Institute, meeting with prominent policy makers and politicians, including Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives. Many also took the opportunity to meet other progressive American organisations such as ‘Take Back America’ and the trade union AFL-CIO.

PES Secretary General Philip Cordery said “The European socialists and social-democrats support Barack Obama for President. His ‘Plan for America’ is a progressive agenda which we believe would bring many benefits to the American people and to the world.”

Reprint that quote all you want, it is author unknown. As far as *I* know.

Joe, nice work but at issue here is not whether Obama or for that matter, most of the Democrats are socialists; they are. How to keep them from obtaining further power over our government is our challenge.

Socialism is the Democrat Utopia. Unfortunately it would destroy our country. Also, you may note that many socialist countries are pacifist too.

Capitalism and a strong military are major reasons this is the greatest country in the world.

The debate is over, we have reached a consensus!

the public: Rubio = Douchebag

"Capitalism and a strong military are major reasons this is the greatest country in the world."

Yeah and the Liberals oppose both at every turn...What does that tell you?

"The debate is over, we have reached a consensus!"

That you are a cluless minion moron... yes, I believe it is over then.

Only a delusional idiot professes to be able to “Win a War on Terror”. Terror has been around since the beginning of time, and will be around until the end of time. Our focus should be to “Protect our Nation from terrorists”.

This will not be accomplished by frisking old white ladies at airports, checking only 3% of the ships that enter our ports, or spying on Americans… hell, we can’t even build a freaking border fence.

So until you self-proclaimed “patriots” who spew your “vote us or die” fear rhetoric stop exploiting the deaths of innocent Americans on 9/11 for your personal, corporate, and political gain… and protect me from terrorists… shove your politics of fear up your treasonous ... A S S.

2:59
That is a quote for the other great ONE of your party. Al Gore

2:59
We need to stop using the Politically Correct speech.

Our enemy uses terrorism as a tactic. They are Radical Islamists. That is the scourge of the world right now. They are at war with over a dozen of their neighbors worldwide.

Unfortunately they are cowards that hide amongst the innocent and kill civilians.

We need to stop the madness at the airports by using Racial Profiling.

We need to place spies in Mosques.

We need the biggest fence we can build on the border and f==== the ACLU.

The problem is we were hit over and over and did nothing about it until 9/11.

No one can guarantee your safety; you are on your own.
