The new House lieutenants: Cretul, Reagan ...
Update Tuesday: It's official now, and Sansom has made these appointments as well: Ellyn Bogdanoff, vice chair of the Rules and Calendar Council; Anitere Flores, deputy majority leader.
--
The Buzz is incoming House Speaker Ray Sansom, R-Destin, will put shape to his administration tomorrow by naming Larry Cretul of Ocala as speaker pro tempore, Ron Reagan of Bradenton as majority whip and Bill Galvano of Bradenton rules chairman. He'll also keep Adam Hasner as majority leader.
While it may not happen tomorrow, Sansom is expected to name one of the Cuban-American lawmakers as appropriations chairman, helping Miami retain some of its power in the House. We previously reported Sansom's other moves including naming Mike Hansen as chief of staff.

No woman worthy of a position??

Great choices all around. Galvano is a superb choice for Rules Chair. Congrats Bill!

These picks are not representative of our region and show why its just stupid of us to continue to vote for a party which shows us so little respect. Not one person in the leadership when we have the majority of the population. This could pay big dividends for the democrats.

Hooray for Galvano!!!

Byrd is the wyrd.

The Grind OLD Patricians like their women to be "useful", like Bog, Palin: pretty faces when need to be, but no real power.

To 9:55 p.m.,
Which GOP woman House member do you want for Sansom to appoint to a leadership position? . . . Burgin?
Posted by: | September 08, 2008 at 11:39 PM
10:16 You would have some power if your delegation didn't spend all its time trying to prove to each other which one has the most machismo and raping the Treasury.

Are these guys going to get something done to protect Floridians from illegal aliens? Also, what is the property tax plan going to be since Amendment 5 got killed before the bench? Speaking for myself if I don't hear a plan coming together on these things Anderson and Fasano can forget my vote.
Posted by: | September 08, 2008 at 11:58 PM
WHAT ABOUT PROPERTY TAXES???????
Vote the bums out!!!!!!!
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 05:05 AM
will that appropriation chair be Zapata?
me thinks so
Posted by: terminator | September 09, 2008 at 07:56 AM
Hot Dog! I am proud of those guys, great selections.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 07:57 AM
Zapata??? LMAO.
Me thinks its Rivera, Termie...
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 08:30 AM
Approps Chair will be Rivera
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 08:31 AM
and let's put this to rest - Bogdanoff will weasel her way into power somehow (whether Sansom wants her to or not). So there's your female representative in this bunch.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 08:37 AM
We need a woman to be approps chairperson. Why give Approps to a Miami member? They take all the money anyway whether they chair the committee or not. Give it to Glorioso or Coley or Grimsley. Where are the women in this mix?
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 08:54 AM
I agree. No more Miami people in charge of appropriations please.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 09:08 AM
Ellyn Bogdanoff (presuming she can win re-election) is Vice Chair of Rules and Calendar; Anitere Flores is Deputy Majority Leader. Would be nice to see Marti Coley in a leadership position.

Zapata is a loon, look for Rivera and a darkhorse is Llorente
Posted by: ROFL | September 09, 2008 at 09:16 AM
Burgin for head cheerleader!
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 09:18 AM
Rivera is not the Approps Chair.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 09:30 AM
Speaker pro tempore: Rep. Larry Cretul of Ocala.
Rules chairman: Rep. Bill Galvano of Bradenton.
Rules vice chairman: Rep. Ellyn Bogdanoff of Fort Lauderdale.
Majority leader: Rep. Adam Hasner of Delray Beach.
Deputy majority leader: Rep. Anitare Flores of Miami.
Majority whip: Rep. Ron Reagan of Bradenton.

9:30
my understanding was Rivera was already told he wouldn't be appropriations chair and it was either Zapata, Robaina or Llorente but my inclination is Zapata.
the split in the Miami-Dade delegation is the old (Rubio, Rivera, Lopez Cantera, Flores) vs the new (Zapata, Robaina, Llorenta, Planas).
we'll see I guess

Great choice in Galvano, stand up guy, he will do great
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 09:46 AM
I know who it is and its not Rivera, but maybe if you post enough times it will become Rivera
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 09:47 AM
Definitey not Rivera or Zapata.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 09:53 AM
it will NOT be Rivera, it will not be Zapata.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 09:54 AM
With Flores being in the Majority Office, I guess that means Coley becomes Ed Council Chair.
Who becomes Health Council Chair?
Where does Rivera end up?
Which one of last year's freshmen, other than Weatherford, is going to have some power?
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 09:55 AM
No. termie posts a lot, but he is never right.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 10:00 AM
Miami had their turn!
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 10:03 AM
10:16
this after 2 years of Speaker and rules Chair...
chill ou mang...
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 10:04 AM
The other freshman who is going to have some power is Aubachon. He's a rising star.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 10:08 AM
agree on Aubuchon
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 10:11 AM
I can see Aubochon chairing something related to Transportation or Infrastructure.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 10:15 AM
Terminator is never right
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 10:22 AM
What if Sands becomes Speaker? It's unlikely, but possible.
Posted by: Voter | September 09, 2008 at 10:46 AM
Cannon will be approps chair.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 10:59 AM
Rivera as approps chair??? LMAO! He is going to look like a fool when the annoncement is made. He has been telling everyone that he is going to be it and has even been raising money on that assumption. What is he going to tell those people that he shook down for $ when they find out?
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 11:22 AM
Rivera was raising bail money.
Just in case...
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 11:30 AM
Rivera has not told people he is going to be Appropriations. People have just assumed. It's Llorente or Rivera
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 11:42 AM
Rivera has not told people he is going to be Appropriations. People have just assumed. It's Llorente or Rivera
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 11:46 AM
is Llorente old enough to drive yet?
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 11:47 AM
Not only is Llorente old enough to drive, but if Llorente doesn't get appropriations, Sansom will have hell to pay.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 12:21 PM
South Florida Resident,
Do you not remember the past 2 years?
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 12:26 PM
Llorente's wrath on Sansom will be nothing compared to Zapata's. Zapata will do a Colombian necktie on Sansom if he doesn't get appropriations.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 12:32 PM
Rivera had enough during Rubio's dicktatorship. He's going to get screwed by Sansom, deservedly so, and he knows it. That's why he tells everyone it's not him.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 12:37 PM
Both Llorente and Zapata have told lobbyists they're getting appropriations. They both said it to me and Galvano told the trial lawyers he cut the deal for Llorente.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 12:45 PM
and Fat Planas will be relegated to Kitchen duties once again. I heard Sansom is putting in a new stove just for him.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 01:15 PM
While I have not been told first hand, many in the process have informed me that Rivera has told them it is him. He says it is a done deal.
Posted by: | September 09, 2008 at 01:30 PM
Sands will be Speaker and Scott Randolph will be Majority leader, you will all see
